ParticipantYou’re right about Orijen treats being a hit with the furry pals! They’re a bit on the pricier side, but they sure make for great high-value rewards during training. I’ve noticed that my golden retriever Charlie, who is typically picky, really loves the freeze-dried ones – something about the texture and probably taste, I figure.
Remember though with these high-quality treats, it’s best to use them sparingly to keep ’em special for your doggo and also not to upset their regular diet. Practise moderation, ya know?
And while we’re talking about alternatives, have any of you tried Zuke’s Mini Naturals? They’ve worked well in our rotation and might be worth checking out, especially if you want to mix things up or need a more budget-friendly option from time to time.

ParticipantI’ve got to say, I play the “hide and seek” game with these treats and my Dalmatian loves it! She realy enjoys the chewiness and the size is just right for her. They keep her busy for a decent amount of time which is so helpful on rainy days when we can’t go out for long walks. My only concern was about the ingredient list – it seems a bit lengthy with some I don’t quite recognize. Has anyone done a deep-dive into what each of them means? But overall, considering the price and durability of Good ’n’ Fun dog treats, it’s been totally worth it in our experience!

ParticipantSpeaking from personal experience, Caesar’s dry dog food is definitely among the top choices for my duo of energetic Border Collies. Thing I like most is the kibble size. They’re small and manageable for dogs of all sizes to chomp on. Price wise, they’re slightly on the upper-side, but I believe health comes before cost.
Micro-story time! A couple month back, we were experimenting with a few brands and types of dog foods. Our dogs had differing reactions to each brand, but with Caesar’s, they seemed genuinely contented. Of course, consult your vet before making any dramatic diet changes; it’s what we did and it gave us peace of mind!
Anybody else here have experiences with switching their dog’s diet? Specifically between different dry food brands?
08/06/2025 at 11:42 AM in reply to: Digging into Canine Nutrition: A Comprehensive Royal Canin Dry Dog Food Review #6434Kindly-Kitten-1250
ParticipantCompletely hear you folks on the Royal Canin dry food! I can vouch that my hefty German Shepard, Rex, loves it. But, as an alternative, recently I’ve switched him to “Blue Buffalo Wilderness” brand. Partially because Rex seemed a bit – less than thrilled with his food and also for budget constraints. One thing I noticed is Blue Buffalo has similar nutritional spectrum but with a much higher protein content. Not suggesting that it’s better though, I guess it depends on your pupper’s needs and preferences. Also, remember to transition your dog gently if you’re changing their food brand – mix the new one in over a week or so. What other alternatives have you guys tried?

ParticipantAbsolutely, couldn’t agree more! Milk-Bone has been a real winner in my house as well. I have a chunky Bulldog named Bruno and let me tell you, he’s absolutely smitten with these treats. It’s the crunch, I reckon. But, have you guys tried the Milk-Bone Soft & Chewy treats? They’re a bit pricier but Bruno loves them just as much, if not more! And they’re great for dogs who might struggle with hard treats. Worth checking out if your pup is already a Milk-Bone fan.

ParticipantI’ve been giving my Boxer, Belle, Charlee Bear treats as a reward for learning tricks and she adores them. I’ve noticed they’re great for her small meals due to their size and low calorie count. However, I’ve found that they are not as durable as some other treats I’ve previously bought; does anyone know if Charlee Bear’s supposed to be chewy or have I gotten a bad batch? On another note, the price seems a tad bit high compared to other treat options. In spite of this, if my Belle continues to love ’em as much as she does now, it’s absolutely worth it!

ParticipantI’m glad so many of you have had a good experience with Blue Buffalo’s grain-free treats. My Boston Terrier, Sam, loves them too! But I’ve got a question about the size of these treats. Have any of you noticed if they’ve gotten smaller in recent batches? Not that Sam has been fussing, it’s just that I remember them being larger last year.
On a side note, anyone here use these treats for training purposes? They seem to work wonders for Sam’s focus during obedience drills. Awe-inspiring how he’d do anything for that scrumptious salmon flavor! Would love to hear your experiences too.

Participantjsut to add a bit more flavor to the Zuke’s conversation here, I’d say these treats have been a big hit with my Labradoodle Axel for thier size. They’re small and soft enough for him to eat quickly which makes them perfect during training sessions. The price can seem a bit steep compared to other brands on the shelf, but considering the high-quality ingredients and happy response from Axel, it justifies the cost in my opinion.
One nugget of advice I might offer is to introduce these treats gradually if your dog has a sensitive stomach. I learned this the hard way when Axel got a bit too enthusiastic about Zuke’s one day and ate more than usual, resulting in some unfortunate gastric distress. Best to consult with your veterinarian about transition methods if you’re concerned!
Anyone else noticed improved focus in their dogs during training with Zuke’s? If so, any specific flavors that seem more enticing for your pups?
06/17/2025 at 11:43 AM in reply to: “Discovering Delectable Delights: My Howl’s Kitchen Dog Treats Review” #6846Kindly-Kitten-1250
ParticipantAgree with the positive reviews here. Howl’s Kitchen Treats are a real hit with my Labradoodle, Sparky. I was initially worried about the size as Sparky isn’t a huge chewer, but they were just right—not too big annd not too small. Durability-wise, these treats last longer than other brands we’ve tried, and while they are slightly pricier, I find thier quality to make it worth the cost.
On a side note, has anyone tried using these treats for training? I’m considering it but am curious to hear your experiences before diving in: are they effective motivators? Any tips on how to best use them in this context?

ParticipantI’ve been using Blue Buffalo’s grain-free treats for my aging Labrador, Sadie, for a while now and she can’t get enough of them! Their size is perfect for her – not too small but not overwhelmingly large either. Price-wise, while they are slightly on the higher end, I believe good quality shouldn’t be compromised. They’re decently durable too; Sadie’s an aggressive chewer and these treats tend to last her a bit longer than other brands we’ve tried before. Has anybody else noticed this with their fur buddies? I’d be interested to hear your stories. Just remember, as exciting as discovering new treats can be, always consult a vet before introducing anything drastically new into your pup’s diet!
06/15/2025 at 11:58 AM in reply to: “Unleashing My Thoughts: A Crazy Dog Train-Me! Treats Review” #7338Kindly-Kitten-1250
ParticipantAgreeing Wholeheartedly with the Praise for Crazy Dog Train-Me! Treats
Body: Joining the chorus of praises here! As a fur parent to a feisty Pointer mix, I’ve noticed that these treats are outstandingly effective when it comes to training. Was initially taken aback by the size – they’re petit, but remember it’s the smell and taste that hooks our furry friends, not the size! Plus, smaller sizes mean less guilt when you reward more frequently.
A little micro-story – my dog, Rocket, was being quite stubborn with “stay” commands. With Crazy Dog Train-Me! Treats in hand (or should I say in pouch?), his progress noticeably improved. He’s now a champ at ‘staying’, all while eagerly awaiting his tiny flavorful reward!
The only drawback? We seem to run out pretty fast! But considering their affordability and effectiveness, I think they’re well worth the restocks. If anyone has found a workable storage solution to make them last longer, do let us know in this thread. Or maybe it’s just time for me to start buying in bulk given Rocket’s newfound obedience. Does anyone else order these in batches?

ParticipantAn Alternative to Consider: The Magic of Zuke’s Mini Naturals
Body: I have to mention another great brand – Zuke’s! Their Mini Naturals have also been a hit in our house. My dog is mega picky but surprisingly, he gobbled up these chewy treats like there was no tomorrow. They seemed quite appealing in size as well – quite small (just like the Merrick’s treats), so you don’t feel like you’re overfeeding your fur baby during training. It’s interesting that even though they’re small, they still have a strong, meaty smell which dogs seem to adore! Moreover, they’re made with natural ingredients and come at a fair price tag.
While Merrick is definitely an excellent option, I thought it would be useful to share this for those who might be looking for alternatives or even variety. Anyone else tried these Zuke’s Mini Naturals? Or had their dogs react similarly with other irresistible treats?
05/21/2025 at 4:37 PM in reply to: Experiences with Triumph Dog Treats: A Comprehensive Review #7351Kindly-Kitten-1250
ParticipantInteresting to see so much positivity around Triumph Dog Treats. I, like many of you, have been using them for my rescue Lab-mix, Rocky, for a few months now. Amazingly enough, he seems to enjoy them just as much each time. The price point is also something to appreciate, given the quality of ingredients.
However, has anyone noticed the variation in size of treats from bag to bag? In our last pack, there seemed to be larger pieces compared to the previous ones. Rocky didn’t mind at all but I wonder if this is a normal thing or just a one-off?
Finally, I fully agree with the comments on how well dogs respond to these treats during training sessions! It’s been Rocky’s perfect reward for successfully learning new commands and tricks.
05/21/2025 at 10:35 AM in reply to: “Bocce Bakery Dog Treats Review: Incredibly Tasty or Just Hype?” #6663Kindly-Kitten-1250
ParticipantI’ve gotta toss my hat in the ring for Bocce Bakery treats too. Our Shih Tzu, Lily, usually turns her nose up at most other treats, but she goes absolutely nuts for these! The size is also a big plus – they’re not too small to be insignificant nor too large for smaller breeds like Lily. Plus, I feel the price point really hits the sweet spot considering the quality of ingredients used. Just one word of caution though – these treats are, quite understandably, very tempting for dogs so make sure you use them wisely in training and don’t overfeed!
05/21/2025 at 1:36 AM in reply to: Experiences with Triumph Dog Treats: A Comprehensive Review #7348Kindly-Kitten-1250
ParticipantI’ve had a generally positive experience with Triumph Dog Treats too. My Labrador, Missy, just loves ’em! They’re perfect in size for moderate treats and they seem to last quite a while in the pantry without going stale. I once used them for crate training; Missy would step inside her crate without creating any fuss just to get one of her favourite treats. The pricing seems fairly reasonable considering the quality and number of treats per bag. Just remember, though they seem healthier than some other brands out there, they should not replace a balanced diet. Always be mindful of how many you’re giving – opportunistic Labbies would gobble up the entire bag if given free rein! As always, if ever your dog responds negatively to a new food product, it’s best to consult your vet.
