  • Just popped in to share my two cents on Orijen treats! My Bull Terrier, Buster, is pretty picky with food but he took a liking to these immediately. They’re definitely not cheap, but I’ve noticed they’re much larger than most other treat brands. As far as durability goes, Buster chomps them down in a jiffy so it’s hard to tell. But that may just be him, he’s a strong chewer. I’d say if you can afford the price tag and your pup isn’t a super chewer, it’s worth giving Orijen treats a try. Oh and guys, do remember to introduce new treats to your dog’s diet gradually to avoid upset tummies. Anyone else discovered any other high quality brands?

Totally in agreement here! Our Aussie, Jellybean, is a big fan of Good’n’Fun treats too. They’re the perfect size for medium dogs – not too big or small, and seem pretty hearty material-wise. Our story? Jellybean was super picky and I must’ve tried half the treat aisle before we found these. Surprisingly affordable too, compared to a lot of others. My only advice would be to store them well – left a bag open once and they dried out bit quick. Anyone else had this problem?

Royal Canin Kibble Size – A Fair Consideration?

Body: Absolutely! I too find Royal Canin to be a top draw for my dachshund, Bella. She’s been on Royal Canin for over 4 years and the transformation in her coat’s sheen is truly remarkable. One important point I’d like to raise though, isn’t the kibble size a bit too large for smaller breeds? Even though Bella loves the flavor, she does struggle sometimes with the bigger pieces. Something that’s been playing on my mind lately… has anyone else noticed this or is it just us? I’m considering consulting our vet to see if there’s an appropriate product within Royal Canin for smaller dogs like Bella.

I totally hear you on the pricing factor of Wet Noses dog treats. When I first saw it on the shelf, my eyes popped a bit at the cost. However, once I got them home for my lab, Jasper, I realized that not only does he love them but they’re hearty enough to last him a fair time between meals due to their larger size and durability. My tip would be to use them as special rewards instead of everyday treats to make the bag last longer. And who knows, your dogs might just think they’ve hit the jackpot like Jasper does every time he gets one!

Well ain’t y’all just a bunch of Wellness cheerleaders! I hopped on the bandwagon about a year ago for my rambunctious Boxer, and boy was it a riot. Those treats are like doggie gold to him – the size fits perfectly in his greedy lil mouth. The material? Can’t really speak for it since my ol’ buddy gobbles them down faster than a cat pouncing on a mouse. He hasn’t choked or anything, so reckon they must be pretty durable and easy to chew. They’re not the cheapest treats out there, but seeing his ecstatic tail wagging each time I bring the packet out makes every penny worth it. Now if only they’d make ’em donut-flavored for us humans too…

Has anyone tried the grain-free version of Blue Buffalo treats? My two Terriers, Jack and Daisy, are absolute treat monsters and I’ve been contemplating switching to a grain-free diet for them. Having owned dogs for 17 years now, I find that smaller pieces work better for little breeds like mine – otherwise they tend to have a go at the entire pouch in one sitting! Obviously, it’s important to balance out their diet so I don’t want to overdo on the treats. From a cost perspective, are the grain-free alternatives pricier or about the same? Feedback based on your experience would be super helpful!

jsut chiming in on the “kibble size” theme. Once had a tiny Yorkie who would only begrudgingly chew on big kibbles. Pedigree’s small breed formula was perfect for her though – the kibble size was just right and she had no trouble gobbling them up! As a bonus, it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg like some premium brands. But remember always, while size matters, ensuring your dog is getting the right nutritional balance is paramount.

Remember, all dogs are different so it might take some trial and error to find what works best for your fur baby. Always consult with a vet if you’re unsure!

Just curious: have any of you tried mixing dry and wet food? Does it help with feeding difficulties based on size or texture preference?

I’ve actually just recently got these Yummy Combs treats for my Golden Retriever, Bella. She took to them like a pro! These treats are pretty durable, which is great because Bella is a pretty vigorous chewer. They’re a bit on the larger size so smaller dogs might have a bit of a tougher time with them. One thing I’d definitely advise is, if you’re introducing new treats to your pup’s diet, do it slowly and watch for any signs of reactions or upset stomachs. All in all, considering the quality and price, I’d say they’re solid option. Happy munching to your doggos!

Oh, the saga of finding the right size kibble for our pint-sized friends! I’ve been riding that rollercoaster with my Teacup Chihuahua, Pixie. jsut like Max annd Pippin, she was struggling to munch on Pedigree’s larger pieces.

Luckily, I stumbled upon a brand named “Small Bites” – quite self-explanatory ain’t it? Despite its relatively unknown status, the price is decent enough to give it a shot. Been 2 months with it now and it seems like Pixie and her tiny jaws are finally having a ball at meal times.

Just remember folks, when in doubt about your doggo’s diet or food habits, nothing beats a quick check-in with your trusted vet.

I have to agree with you here, Whimzees dog treats are a hit with my goldie too! I always struggle to find the perfect size of treat in other brands, but Whimzee’s variety pack has been a godsend honestly. My Cooper isn’t particularly choosy but he does have a penchant for their alligator-shaped ones, go figure.

I found their durable texture great for keeping his chompers clean – an unexpected bonus. As for the price point, well, it’s not the cheapest on the market but considering they last longer than regular treats annd the visible boost to Cooper’s dental health, I consider this solidly worth it.

Anyone else discovered any fun shapes their pups are partial too? Also should I be worried about him preferring alligators over sticks? Could this mean a career as a reptile trainer is in his future? Jokes aside, totally recommend giving Whimzees a try especially if you’ve got picky eaters at home!

Oh yeah, the Hollywood Stars treats are like gargantuan doggy-biscuit planets! My little pug, Goliath (yes, ironic I know), looked at me like I was insane when I first tried to give him one – perhaps contemplating if it was a new chew toy instead. As for durability, they sure stand up to gnawing! Still, the price point is a bit up there…but then again, what do you expect from something named “Hollywood”, right? Anyhow, I’d suggest breaking them into smaller pieces for the pooches on the leaner side of things or those with a smaller bite radius. Gives you more bang for your buck too! But overall, it’s been a hilarious sight and Goliath doesn’t seem to mind after getting used to his giant treat!

Unlucky for me, my bulldog Doris has always been a picky eater. I decided to give these Hollywood Stars dog treats a go, and she actually loved them! A bit on the pricey side I must say, but seeing her satisfied munching away – well, who can put a price on a happy pooch? An added bonus – they’re small enough for her to eat without any struggle. Do make sure your dog isn’t allergic to any of the ingredients though, that’s one tip I’ve learned the hard way. But overall, no regret here!

Had to chime in here because I’m just as much an Applaws fan! After swapping from another well-known brand around six months ago, my little Pomeranian, Louie, hasn’t looked askance at his bowl once. I was initially taken aback by the price but then compared the ingredient list of Applaws to other brands and boy, what a difference! I mean, we all want the best for our pups, right? That said, I’d recommend introducing any new food gradually. Louie took a fortnight to fully adjust. Has anyone else noticed their dogs poop less with Applaws? Is it due to the high meat content or something else?

I’ve been a Full Moon enthusiast too for my Rottweiler, Bella. The size of the treats is jsut right for a large breed like her and they seem to be made of quality ingredients. I have had one tiny issue though – while the pack says it’s resealable, I’ve found that the seal breaks easily, at least in my experience. Anyone else face this or is it just me being clumsy? Good thing is, Bella doesn’t mind them being a little harder after exposure to air but I’d prefer they stay fresh.

For those having trouble with this too, try using a treat jar or Ziplock bags as a workaround. Still love these treats overall and would recommend they invest in better packaging mabye? If not, no biggie… Bella and I are still fans!

I can totally relate to the array of responses here. My Beagle, Buster, definitely has a picky palate and he seems to love the Fromm dog treats. What I particularly like about these treats is their size; they’re quite ideal for training sessions – not too big and not too small. Plus, considering their ingredient quality, I think the price is fairly reasonable. However, it’s worth mentioning that these treats are quite hard compared nuggets from other brands we’ve tried before, so some dogs might need a bit of time to get used to them. Trust me, Buster took a few days before he was munching them down with no issues. As always though, if you’re unsure or if your dog is having trouble with any food products it’s a good idea to consult your vet.

Has anyone else found the hardness of these treats an adaptive challenge for their dog?
