ParticipantWhile I see a lot of love for Jiobit Next in this thread, have any of you tried the Tractive GPS Dog Tracker? Its main selling point: worldwide coverage! I bought one for my globetrotter Golden Retriever, Apollo. The lad loves going on trips with me, and Tractive has been a lifesaver whenever he embarks on his mini adventures while we’re abroad. Thing is as durable as they come and the price doesn’t make your wallet cry. Are there anyone else here using it or is it just us?

Participantgang, Rex’s dad chipping in. I’ve been using the Garmin Dog GPS for nearly two years now. Despite it being a bit on the pricier side, its durability and reliability cannot be beat. My own lively Lab, Rex, is a notorious wanderer, especially when we go hiking in unfamiliar terrain; with this device, I have peace of mind knowing exactly where he’s off sniffing about. One tip though- make sure to size it properly for your pooch right from the start. Too tight or too loose could cause some discomfort. The material is quite sturdy and has survived Rex’s many dip-and-dash swim sessions as well! Absolutely worth every penny if you ask me!

Participantthere, I’ve been feeding my border collie, Bailey, NutriSource treats for quite a while and she absolutely adores them! The size is perfect for her, but I can understand how it might not be ideal for larger breeds. They are also a pretty good bang for your buck – a little pricier than some treats, but you’re paying for quality. There’s just one thing, though: the packaging could definitely use some work as the zip-lock at the top easily loses its functionality over time. Anyone else experiencing the same issue?
By the way, if you’re looking to mix things up, try giving Whole Earth Farms treats a go – Bailey favours their chicken & sweet potato recipe as well. Anyhow, always feel free to experiment and find what best fits your furry friend’s preferences. Aren’t all these food choices part of the fun of having dogs? 😊

ParticipantI totally get where everyone’s coming from with the Ol’ Roy treat love. My senior Golden Retriever, Doodle, has been enjoying them for years and they’ve been a big hit. The size is ideal for her, not too small and not overly large. Plus, they’re strong enough to last her a good few minutes of chomping before they’re completely gone.
That said, I have noticed that these treats can be a bit tough/hard for older dogs or those with dental issues. It might not be an issue for younger puppies with strong jaws but just thought it would be worth mentioning. Our Yorkie struggles with them so we had to switch his treats.
Price-wise, I’d say they’re pretty affordable compared to other premium dog treats on the market. So if the hardness isn’t a turn-off for you and your pup, I’d say give Ol’ Roy a try! Just always remember to monitor your pet while they’re indulging to avoid any choking hazards. For any health-related concerns surrounding treats, it may be best to consult with a vet first before making any changes to their diet.
Has anyone else found their older dogs struggling with hardier treats like Ol’ Roy? Would love to hear about your experience or if there’s an alternative you’d recommend specifically for elder pups!

ParticipantAbsolutely agree about the size of those Dingo treats. I even thought they were a bit chunky for my Lab mix, Rufus. He’s no small breed dog, but the first time he tried to chew on one, it was a bit of an ordeal – took him longer than usual to get through. Can’t imagine how it would go down with the tiniest terriers or delicate Yorkies.
On the plus side, Rufus loves them. They keep him occupied for awhile, which is great when we’re trying to get stuff done around the house or when guests are over and we want him a little distracted.
So here’s a tip for anyone else discovering these are rather robust for their pooches: try cutting them into smaller pieces before giving them to your dog. Keeps the same treat excitement, just at a more manageble size.
Still wondering if anyone has any recommended alternatives that don’t require manual resizing?03/20/2025 at 1:19 PM in reply to: “Getting to the bottom of Minties dog treats- A comprehensive review” #7064Chunky_Chihuahua_3004
ParticipantI’ve been browsing this thread and hearing your experiences with Minties dog treats has piqued my interest. Do you think they would be suitable for a smaller breed like a Shih Tzu? My little guy, Bosco, is prone to dental issues, but I don’t want anything too hard that might bother his delicate teeth. Also, are these things on the pricier side? I’ve no problem investing in good treats for Bosco, but just wanna ensure they’re worth the bucks! Any tips for introducing Minties to him? Cheers for any advice!

Participantfolks, just tossing in my two cents as a long-time user of Hollywood Stars dog treats, specifically with my Golden Retriever, Sunny. She’s quite the fan, but I’ve also noticed the size seems perfect for her larger breed. Does anyone else find the treat size to be a good fit for their bigger dogs? Just curious if it’s a universal thing or just my Sunny loving ’em regardless!
On the topic of price, they might be on the pricier side but judging by Sunny’s reaction and their durability, I say they’re definitely worth every penny! Anyone else feel that quality over quantity is what’s important when it comes to our furry friends’ treats?

ParticipantWell, strap in folks, because my experience with these Dingo treats sure has been… interesting. Got ’em on a bit of a whim for my three-year-old pug – she’s pretty fussy about her snacks but hey, the price was right so why not, right? Never seen her go to town on a treat like she did with these! Not just tasty apparently; they’ve proven to be quite durable too considering my pup’s tenacity.
On the flip side though, I’ve found them rather messy. Crumbs galore every time she chomps down, and let me tell you it’s no fun cleaning these up from the rug. So uh… maybe only give ém to your furry friend on hard flooring or outdoors. Anyone else found this to be the case, or is my lovely little shredding machine just an outlier here? Always possible I suppose.

Participantall! I’ve tried the Hollywood Stars with my Border Collie, Max, and he seemed to enjoy them, but I found them to be a bit pricey for the amount you get. For anyone on a budget, I’d recommend giving Zuke’s Mini Naturals a shot. They’re great for training, come in a variety of flavors, and are quite affordable while still maintaining quality. Sure they aren’t as extravagant as the Hollywood Stars, but my boy Max gobbles them up just the same! Anyone else tried Zuke’s? What are your experiences?

ParticipantFor sure, count me in as another fan of Hollywood Stars dog treats! I’ve been giving them to my pug for about a year now. They’re perfectly sized for his small mouth and he seems to really enjoy the taste. When training him to stay off the couch, these treats played a crucial role due their irresistible flavor (for him, of course!). Their durability is also impressive; the bag doesn’t compromise the quality of the product over time – still as fresh as on day one. To those considering it, definitely give it a go! I’d love to hear others’ experience with introducing these treats during training sessions. Are they effective universally or does it vary from breed to breed?
02/24/2025 at 9:48 PM in reply to: “Spoiling My Four-Legged Papillon: A DreamBone Dog Treats Review” #7001Chunky_Chihuahua_3004
ParticipantCan I just say how much my Basset Hound, Lucy, adores DreamBone treats? We’ve tried different brands and sizes before, but these seem to hold her interest the longest. The size is just right for her and they’re durable enough to last about a day or two of dedicated chewing. But yes, I agree with some of you about them being a little on the expensive side. An amusing side note – the other day I found one stowed away in my shoe; Lucy’s secret stash, perhaps? As for availability and pricing, I find that ordering online in bulk usually gets me the best deal. For those worried about potential digestive issues, it’s always best to consult your vet first before introducing a new type of treat into your dog’s diet. Has anyone else’s fur baby developed any cute “hidng spots” for their DreamBone treats?
Chunky_Chihuahua_3004
Participantthis reminds me of when I tried giving my Golden Retriever, Daisy, these Blue dog treats. She really loved the flavor but like many here have mentioned, she also struggled with the size – I had to break them up into smaller pieces for her. On the bright side, they did seem to last longer that way!
Now here’s a question for you all: has anyone tried moistening the treats a bit before giving it to their pup? I wonder if that might make it a tad easier for them chew and swallow without losing the crunch that dogs seem to love. Your thoughts?Chunky_Chihuahua_3004
Participantthere, I’m in agreement about the size of the Blue dog treats. I learned the hard way when my Boxer mix, Bella got put off by their large size too. However, instead of ditching them completely, I tried breaking the treats into smaller pieces and voila! It worked out great! Now, Bella loves them and I feel good knowing she’s getting a quality treat. Always remember your pup’s preferences might require a little tweak in how you serve things. Has anyone else tried this approach? Let’s discuss some creative ways we can introduce these nutritious treats to our pups!
Chunky_Chihuahua_3004
Participantfellow dog owners! I’ve definitely found that the size of the Smokehouse dog treats are perfect for a mid-size to larger breed. My pup, Bella (she’s a Border Collie), takes a good while to munch through one — so it’s not just gulp and gone. Really great for keeping her occupied while I’m trying to get some work done at home!
But folks with tinier dogs might want to be careful. For smaller fur babies, consider breaking the treat into smaller pieces, at least initially, just to be safe. It’s not about how “hardy” your dogs seems, it’s more about the fit with their mouth and teeth size.
About their durability––I was pleasantly surprised! Bella is pretty much a chewer but these treats hold up well. And considering it costs less than some of those fancier brands out there, definitely worth your bucks.
A little story here: Once we ran out of Smokehouse treats and I gave Bella a different brand (won’t name names here), she sniffed it once and walked away! Haha… she’s a Smokehouse gal now for sure!
By the way, has anyone tried using these as high-value training rewards? Just curious about your experiences!
02/12/2025 at 2:41 PM in reply to: “Discovering the Taste and Nutrition of Wholehearted Dog Treats: My Experience and Review” #6931Chunky_Chihuahua_3004
ParticipantOh boy, I couldn’t agree more about the Wholehearted dog treats. My Golden Retriever, Benji’s tail won’t stop wagging every time he sees that treat bag! The size and consistency of the treats are also great for training purposes, since they’re small enough to not fill him up too quickly but substantive enough for him to actually enjoy.
In terms of price, I believe they’re pretty reasonable considering the quality. I particularly appreciate that they’re grain-free and contain no artificial colors or flavors—just real chicken and other wholesome ingredients. Great for a health-conscious owner like myself!
The only downside that I’ve found is that they can get a bit crumbly if not stored properly. So my advice would be to make sure you tightly seal the bag after each use. Has anyone else had this experience? Or found a creative way around it… maybe using them as food toppers?
Overall though, I’d say Wholehearted dog treats are worth both your time and money! Let’s keep spoiling our pups with wholesome goodies!
