ParticipantA Personal Experience with Heart to Tail Dog Treats
I’ve been using Heart to Tail dog treats for my springer spaniel, Toby, for about six months now. He absolutely loves them! I appreciate the natural ingredients and the treat size is perfect for training purposes – not too large, but substantial enough to be rewarding. Price-wise, it’s definitely affordable compared to some premium brands out there.
Fun fact: Toby’s learned to do a little spin every time he sees me reaching for the treat bag! However, always be patient when introducing new treats to your pooch; each dog’s dietary tolerance may vary. It’s exciting watching them enjoy thier treats, but ensuring no adverse reactions keeps things smooth and enjoyable. And don’t forget, despite our best knowledge as pet parents, it’s a good idea to consult a vet when introducing any major dietary changes in our furry friends’ life.
Has anyone else noticed any interesting behaviors their dogs have developed around these treats? Would love to hear more stories about it!

ParticipantAbsolutely agree with the positive feedback on Smokehouse treats! I have a stubborn Shih Tzu who’s quite particular about her snacks, but she loooves these. One of my mates suggested them to me – said they were long-lasting and I couldn’t agree more. For their price, the durability is pretty impressive. Plus, they don’t leave any nasty residue like some other chews do – so clean-up is minimal! Anyways, anyone has tried to use them as training treats?

ParticipantI’ve been feeding my Golden Retriever, Rufus, the Smokehouse dog treats for a little over a year now. What I particularly like about these treats is their size-suitable for a big guy like him-and not the petite morsel which would disappear in one chomp. In terms of durability, they don’t crumble quickly, and Rufus takes some time to eat it, achieving that task of keeping him engaged.
Price-wise, they are a bit on the higher end initially but considering how long-lasting they are when compared to other treats, it feels justifiable over time. And let’s not forget the material; with authentic USA-sourced meat there’s less worries about sketchy additives.
A little advice here tho: when you’re introducing new treats like this into your pup’s diet, always start slow and see how they react. Not all dogs have iron stomachs! If your fur-bud gets digestive upset consult a vet immediately.
Anyone else found a better way to introduce new treats?

ParticipantWhile I won’t dispute the praise for Trekker’s Calming Dog Treats, I’ve found ‘Unleashed Calm’ treats work a tad better for my furball. Guess it depends on your dog and how they react to different formulations, huh? After all, these aren’t one-size-fits-all solutions. Plus, side note for budget-conscious pals out here, Unleashed’s price per treat tends to be a smidge lower. And hey, we all love a good deal, don’t we? Anyone else tried other calming dog treats that are worth considering?

ParticipantCouldn’t agree more with everything that’s been said about Trekker’s Calming Dog Treats. In my house, they’ve become a game-changer for our high-energy German Shorthaired Pointer, Trixie. Previously she would be bouncing off the walls at every single noise – from the mailman’s knock on the door to a car passing by. Cue in Trekker’s and we’ve a whole new story now!
I love that these treats aren’t just effective, but they’re also made using natural ingredients which is a big plus when it comes to the health and well-being of my furry friend next to me. Pricing is reasonable too considering the quality, and a pack lasts a notable amount of time given their size too.
Incorporating these into our daily routine was pretty seamless. I started giving Trixie one of these treats before anticipated stress situations (guests coming over, loud storms etc.) and soon noticed her being much calmer, less receptive to all the stimuli around.
Just keep in mind everyone’s pup is different and while they worked for Trixie, might not be the same case for your doggo. If you notice unpredictable reactions or if your dog’s anxiety still persists, definitely consult your vet. Cheers!

ParticipantAbsolutely relate to the notion of Greenies as the “green gold” of dog treats! My Shih Tzu, Belle, practically does backflips when I pull out the bag. The regular size works great for her and honestly, it’s outstanding how long they last considering she’s a heavy chewer. Plus, they’re made from natural ingredients which puts my mind at ease. One tip – check the prices across various pet stores. You’d be surprised how much you can save from one place to another! Have any of you guys experienced the same price differences or is it just me?

ParticipantCouldn’t agree more about Greenies! They’ve become the go-to in our house for a quick snack or reinforcement during training, with my Boxer mix absolutely in love with them. The price might appear a tad steep at first glance, but considering their size and quality, I’d say it’s completely worth it.
One thing I’ve noticed is they can be pretty tough for smaller dogs due to their size and hardness. If you have smaller breeds, I suggest you try out the petite size Greenies. That’s what I started doing for my little Dachshund, and she loves em’ jsut as much – no issues with chewing or now!
As always tho, do remember to supervise your furry buddies while they’re chewing away because small fragments could still potentially cause blockages. And of course, if you notice any digestive problems after starting them on these treats, don’t hesitate to consult your vet. Have fun treating!

ParticipantAbsolutely onboard with you guys about Nutro treats. They definitely hit the sweet spot in terms of price and effectiveness. My Border Collie, Jess, is pretty picky when it comes to treats but she’s been a fan of Nutro since day one. From tiny training bitesize pieces to larger treats for good behavior, they seem to hold up well without crumbling and leave very little mess which as an owner is greatly appreciated!
In fact, I have also found them useful when introducing Jess to new experiences – placing a few around during her first car ride was a great distraction and now she hops in without any fear. Another tip I’ve found particularly effective is using them when handling sensitive areas (like paws or mouth) during grooming; it helps keep her relaxed and cooperative.
Anyone else experienced this? Any other novel ways you’re using your Nutro goodies? Considered trying other flavors too?

ParticipantIt’s pretty cool to see all these different experiences with Ollie dry dog food. For myself, as an owner of a fairly active Australian Shepherd, the nutritional value aspect really mattered to me. I was particularly attracted by the high-protein and low-grain combo Ollie promotes. After using it for a couple of months, though, I noticed that while it fueled my buddy’s energy levels, it just didn’t satisfy him completely. He always seemed hungry and started gaining some noticeable weight.
Instead of cutting down portion sizes drastically or switching back to his old kibble, which he wasn’t too thrilled about in the first place, I decided to give “The Honest Kitchen Whole Grain Chicken Recipe” a try. It also boasts a high-protein profile but has more fiber content that keeps my Aussie feeling full longer without packing on extra pounds. The rehydratable dehydrated formula surprisingly worked well for us. My dog loves it, and we haven’t faced any issues with weight or digestion since the switch.
Out of curiosity, anyone else tried swapping from dry kibble like Ollie to dehydrated options? How did your dog respond to that?

ParticipantI really appreciate this discussion about Happy Hips dog treats. Already been using them for several years now with my Golden Retriever, Flossy – she absolutely adores them. The bags are always generously filled and the guaranteed natural ingredients put me at ease.
In terms of their functionality, I’ve noticed that they do seem to make Flossy more energetic on our daily walks – a noticeable difference before we started using Happy Hips. Also, the size is perfect becuase I can easily carry a few in my pocket when we’re out and about.
As an alternative tho, and if you’re looking for more variety, I would recommend Zuke’s Hip Action treats. They come in different flavors like beef, chicken and peanut butter which keeps things interesting for your furry friend (Flossy loves having a different flavor every now then!). For any concerns on their effects on pups’ hips or overall health, it’s always best to consult with your vet first.
Anyone else tried Zuke’s Hip Action? Or perhaps other healthy treat alternatives?

ParticipantI’ve been using Grandma Lucy’s dog treats for quite some time now and my terrier, Rex, simply loves them! They seem to be the right size for him and he enjoys the crunch. But I also noticed that they’re a bit pricier compared to other brands we have tried before. As for durability, they do hold up well in the treat jar without crumbling down or spoiling too soon. All in all, it’s a good treat – just watch out for the price tag!
09/10/2024 at 7:35 AM in reply to: “Finally Found My Pup’s Perfect Match: Iams Dry Dog Food Review” #6529mellowterrier7329
ParticipantAbsolutely! I’m also a big fan of Iams Dry Dog Food. I’ve been using it for my Labrador, Benny, for about three years now – he just can’t get enough of the chicken flavor, plus his coat has never been this shiny in our 11 years together. Dr Jeremiah, my local vet, appreciates its simple annd healthy ingredients – he even gave me the okay on it during our last visit. However, remember folks, always check with your vet before switching your fur buddy’s food altogether. They all have different dietary needs after all! Is anyone else’s doggo as enamored with the chicken flavor as Benny is?
09/10/2024 at 3:01 AM in reply to: “Unleashing My Thoughts: Alpo Prime Cuts Dry Dog Food Review” #6543mellowterrier7329
ParticipantYou’re absolutely right about the Alpo Prime Cuts. My Labrador, Buddy, didn’t care for it either. At first glance, the size annd texture seemed perfect for him since he’s a big guy with a strong jaw, but he just was not interested in it at all. I tried mixing it with some wet food, thinking maybe he’d get used to it gradually. To my surprise, Buddy started picking out the Alpo kibbles and only eating the wet food! It’s decently priced, but what good is that if our furry mates won’t eat it, right? As for an alternative, I’ve found that Hill’s Science Diet went down a treat with Buddy; maybe your pups might fancy a change too? But remember, any diet changes should be made gradually and under the supervision of a vet to avoid digestive problems.
