ParticipantAbsolutely agree with the Yummy Combs love here! I’ve been giving these to my 6-year-old Beagle, Rufus. What I appreciate the most is the unique design. He’s quite fussy and tends to gobble down his snacks quickly, but the comb shape of this treat slows him down a bit, making snack time last a little longer which Rufus seems to thoroughly enjoy. I won’t lie though, they’re a tad pricier than your regular treats but they do seem to serve us well in terms of dental hygiene (though it’s no replacement for regular brushing!). Any one else noticed any positive changes in thier pup’s oral health since trying Yummy Combs?

ParticipantTotally appreciate the rave reviews Canine Carry Outs has been receiving! Having used them for my Westie, they indeed fit the ‘small bite-size’ bill and have worked great as training rewards. However, if you’re after a more natural treat, you might want to look at premium options such as Fruitables Crunchy Dog Treats. They’re free from artificial colors and flavors and my dog equally loves them – maybe even a tad bit more! Always remember though, if your dog’s got any dietary issues, it’s best to consult with your vet before introducing new treats into their diet. Anyone tried Fruitables before? What’s been your experience?

ParticipantI’ve been using Nudges Natural Dog Treats too for my bull terrier, Goliath. He’s a big boy with big teeth, and these treats are pretty durable and seem to hold up fine! We even use them as part of his training routine because he loves the taste so much. My only question would be about the size – they seem a bit small for larger breeds. Has anyone found any similar natural dog treats that come in bigger sizes, perhaps?

ParticipantWhile I can see the appeal of Jiobit Next, especially for larger dogs or those with a propensity to wander, I’ve had a different experience. When my Pomeranian Bella bolted yesterday (bless her adventurous spirit), my trusty Whistle GO Explore came in for the save. It’s smaller and lighter, an important factor when your pooch falls into the petite category like mine does. The battery life has also proven sufficient. That said, I’m keen on hearing about any other tracking devices what you guys might recommend? Different strokes for different folks (or dogs) after all!
05/01/2025 at 8:51 AM in reply to: Upgrading to Freshpet Dry Dog Food – A Review from my Experience #6446lively-tabby-3301
ParticipantI’ve also tried the Freshpet dry dog food for my golden retriever and have mixed feelings about it. It’s definitely on the pricier side compared to other brands, but its ingredient list is one of the best out there with real meats and veggies.
However, I noticed that my furry friend wasn’t as enthusiastic about this meal compared to his previous ones. Took me awhile to realize that he probably prefers some crunchiness in his meals – he loved chewing his previous, more traditional kibble!
As an alternative, I’ve started mixing in a bit of high-quality grain-free kibble with the Freshpet, just to add that extra texture. This seems to be working well for us at the moment!
For any newbies considering this transition, do keep a close eye on your dog’s reaction to the change. They might love it or they might not be huge fans. If you notice any negative reactions, maybe book an appointment with your vet just to discuss diet options – no harm in making sure what we feed our pets suits their pallet and keeps them healthy!
Anyone else here mixed Freshpet with kibble? How’d that go for you?

ParticipantOh, the memories with Wag dry dog food! My dear old Jack Russell, Cooper, was on it for a while. Wasn’t half bad and it’s quite a reasonable price too. Cooper liked the taste, although he’s not what I’d call fussy eater, mind you. But from an owner’s perspective, loved the fact that they had grain-free options which seemed to agree more with Coop’s tummy. jsut remember every pup is different and what worked for Cooper might not bode well for other fur kiddos so it’s always a great idea to monitor them early on when introducing new chow. Also, consult your vet if there are any sudden changes in their behavior or health condition. Happy feeding!
03/26/2025 at 10:15 AM in reply to: “Hollywood Stars Dog Treats Review: My Experience in a Nutshell” #7026lively-tabby-3301
ParticipantI’ll chime in here – my chessie, Sam, loves Hollywood Stars dog treats too but agreed they are pretty massive for smaller pups. I usually break them into smaller pieces which seems to do the trick. It’s a bit of extra work but Sam doesn’t seem to mind munching smaller bits annd it means I don’t have to shop for different treats for his size. So maybe try that if you’re feeling like these treats are too big for your fur-baby? As for cost – yeah they’re not the cheapest on the market but in terms of quality, I think they’re worth every penny. Any other folks had luck resizing these without losing thier effectiveness?

ParticipantMy Tiny Terrier’s Take on Dingo Dog Treats
I got into this Dingo Dog Treat hype for my little Yorkie, Oscar. Despite their larger size (which can be a tad overwhelming for tiny jaws), I cut them into smaller pieces and presto, Oscar is head over heels! Gotta say, the price felt a bit steep at first, but seeing Oscar’s enthusiasm changed my mind – definitelly worth every penny. Just be aware of the size before purchasing though, especially if your furry friend is on the smaller side like mine. All in all, these treats seem to be quite durable and not so quickly devoured as others we’ve tried. Anyone else with small dogs who’ve figured out any tricks to make the treats more manageable?
03/07/2025 at 3:05 PM in reply to: “Spoiling My Four-Legged Papillon: A DreamBone Dog Treats Review” #7004lively-tabby-3301
ParticipantTotally feel the DreamBone love in this thread! My Rottie, Bruno, can be a bit of a picky eater at times, but he never turns down a DreamBone treat. They’re the perfect size for him, not too small or large, and they last quite awhile despite his powerful jaw – which means more enjoyment for my handsome boy. Their price is also pretty decent considering their durability. Just one hiccup tho: Bruno did once lose interest mid-way through a particularly large chew- mabye it got just a bit plain taste-wise? But sure enough, the next day he was right back to gnashing away at it. So all’s well that ends well – even with a hiccup here and there, these treats are still head and paws above the rest of our trials.
How about you guys, any quirks or hiccups with your pups while using DreamBone?
lively-tabby-3301
ParticipantWhat a roller coaster with these treats! I agree that they’re a bit like ‘boulders.’ My Jack Russel, Milo, is an energetic little guy with an impressive bite, but even he struggled a bit with the size and hardness of the Blue treats. We started breaking them up into smaller pieces which worked better for him. These things definitely seem more durable than a few other brands we’ve tried previously.
As for price, it’s a touch high but considering how long each ‘boulder’ lasts, it actually seems pretty cost-effective in the long run. All in all, not terrible treats but maybe best suited for larger breeds or determined chewers. Anyone else with a small breed have this problem? Or found a way to make these work best for their pup?
02/16/2025 at 9:42 PM in reply to: “Swap and Hop: My Applaws Dry Dog Food Review after Switching Brands” #6568lively-tabby-3301
ParticipantAh, the Applaws saga continues! Don’t get me wrong, I’m all aboard this train too – my old Beagle, Max, can’t get enough of the Applaws lamb flavor. For a dog that’s notoriously picky, it’s been a game changer. On the price-front though, let’s be real guys – it ain’t the cheapest! But I reckon you do get what you’re paying for in terms of quality. Anybody else finding themselves compromising on quantity due to cost? Always curious to know how other fur parents manage this trade-off.

ParticipantTotally agree with you on the size of the Smokehouse dog treats, they’re just right for our medium-sized fur pals! I’ve been giving these treats to my Cocker Spaniel, Milo, and he can’t seem to get enough. Plus, they’re made from all-natural ingredients which is a relief cause I’m trying to keep his diet as healthy as possible. The only downside I’ve found is the price – it’s a bit steep especially if your pup loves them as much as Milo does. Any tips on where to snag these bad boys on sale? Gotta save those pennies, am I right?
02/05/2025 at 3:55 PM in reply to: “Swap and Hop: My Applaws Dry Dog Food Review after Switching Brands” #6557lively-tabby-3301
ParticipantWell now, ain’t this a stroll down memory lane? My fluffy Pomeranian, Fred, also hopped onto the Applaws train about a year ago. Before that, he was quite picky with his kibble. Now, I just shake the Applaws bag and he comes running! Firstly, I appreciate the smaller kibble size – it’s perfect for my little guy. Secondly, the ingredient list isn’t scary or confusing. It’s pretty much wholesome stuff – no long scientific names that make me scratch my head.
One small tip if you’re thinking of switching: don’t rush it! Gradually mix in the new food with your doggo’s current brand so as not to upset their belly. Finally, while there’s indeed a slight increase in price compared to other brands, for me it’s totally worth every penny seeing how Fred cleans up his bowl every time.
Just a reminder though, if your pup shows any signs of being unwell after a switch in food always consult your vet. They are the experts after all!

ParticipantI have to agree with the positive feedback for Fresh Kisses dog treats. I’ve got a picky eater named Ringo at home who usually turns up his nose at most treats, but not with these! The size and texture seem to be just right for him – he has no issues chewing them, and the price is pretty reasonable too. However, it’s thier durability that really impresses me – Ringo takes his sweet time nibbling on them, so it’s nice to have a treat that lasts!
Oh, and protip: when introducing any new treat, always monitor your pet to ensure they’re not having any adverse reactions. If anything seems off, best take them to your vet. Have your pups tried the mint flavor of Fresh Kisses? Ringo’s pretty keen on it!

ParticipantLike many of you, I’ve tried Good Lovin’ treats for my Siberian Husky, Luna. She loves them and they’re the perfect size for her – not too small that she could swallow it whole and choke nor too big that chewing becomes a chore. I often use them in her puzzle toy because they are reasonably hardy and don’t crumble into a mess. Price wise, they’re more expensive than some brands but considering their quality, I think they’re worth it. Every time Luna hears the packet rustle, she will dash from even another room! That’s enough evidence for me to vouch for their appeal. Always remember though, treats should be given in moderation. And if you notice any unusual behavior in your pet after introduction of a new treat or food, may be best to have a chat with your vet. Anybody else using these as rewards during training sessions? How is your experience?
