ParticipantI gave the Yummy Combs a shot with my Bulldog, Daisy, and she’s been lovin’ them too! Fantastic for her dental health without the worry of harsh chemicals. They are a bit on the pricier side but the quality is well worth it, IMO. One piece of advice though: make sure to choose the size that’s appropriate for your pup – Daisy is medium-sized and the large ones were way too big for her comfort. She almost choked on it once due to being oversized, so I found that the small size works better with her. Something to keep in mind when ordering these treats! Has anyone else noticed a difference in their dog’s behavior or health since starting them on Yummy Combs?

ParticipantTotally with you on this one, guys. The size of Pedigree’s dry dog food did throw me off initially especially since my beagle Louie is a tiny fella already. He took a while to adapt but once he did, he seemed pretty okay with it. However, around the same time, I stumbled upon this brand – Nutro Ultra Small Breed Adult dry food. I decided to give it a shot and boy was it easier for Louie to chew and digest! It’s a bit pricier than Pedigree but you might want to consider it for smaller pups. Did anyone else try this switch? How was your experience stepping up the price bracket for better sizing?

ParticipantSize Matters with Tractive GPS Dog Tracker
Hey folks, thought I’d throw in my two cents regarding the Tractive GPS tracker. My little pug, Snuffles, is a firecracker that loves to explore, which is why I picked up this tracker. One thing that bothered me though was the size. It’s a bit bulky and seemed uncomfortable for Snuffles at first especially due to his small frame.
Over time he got used to it, but I still think it’s more suitable for medium to large dog breeds. The material and durability are top-notch though, no complaints about that or the price realy. Has anyone else faced similar issues with the size? I’m considering looking for alternative trackers specifically designed for smaller breeds.

ParticipantI’ve seen some great reviews on Tractive GPS but gave the Findster Duo+ Pet Tracker a try for my Great Dane. It’s a bit pricier, but it has no monthly fees, which can add up over time with the Tractive. The size was perfect and quite durable; it survived the rough play sessions at our local dog park without any hiccups. The Findster also has a range of up to 3 miles, more than enough for us even on our rural hikes. Anyone else tried this as an altrenative? Would love to hear your thoughts!

ParticipantHaving fed my 9-year old Labrador, Rufus, a variety of dog food brands over the years, I’d say we’ve definitely found a winner with Open Farm Dry Dog Food. The quality and transparency of their ingredients are next level. Rufus is an absolute fan of the Homestead Turkey & Chicken recipe – he gobbles it up every single time! Plus, kudos to Open Farm for the eco-friendly packaging.
Since Rufus is a larger breed, I ensure I consult his weight chart from our vet and keep changes in his diet gradual. Just thought that’s something worth sharing if you’re considering swapping your fur kid’s chow. Just remember though, every dog’s dietary needs may vary significantly so always seek professional guidance if unsure!

ParticipantWhile I generally agree with the consensus on NutriSource treats and their seemingly high quality, I’m curious if anyone else has found them a bit on the small size? While they’ve been hit with my Jack Russell Terrier, Lizzy, she tends to go through them pretty quickly. In contrast, I’ve tried some other brands whose larger treat size lasts quite a bit longer – or maybe it’s just that Lizzy’s a little chomper! Anyway, are there any suggestions for similarly high-quality but larger treats? Might be worth considering for folks with bigger breeds or pups with a healthy appetite like Lizzy. Don’t get me wrong though – I love how much she enjoys them but just wondering how economical they are in the long run.

ParticipantSmall Size, Big Satisfaction with NutriSource
I’ve got to say, those NutriSource treats have indeed been a hit with my three-year-old Golden Retriever. She’s always had a bit of an issue with larger treats – tended to gulp them down without chewing much. The smaller sized NutriSource treats have proven to be perfect for her. Also, the cost factor can’t be ignored; pretty reasonable considering the quality we’re getting.
On the downside, the durability could be improved upon. They tend to crumble if I shove them into my pocket on our morning walks. Just as something to consider if you are an active dog-owner annd planning on purchasing these treats.
Coming about an alternative product, anyone tried wellness WellBites? I’ve heard they are pretty sturdy and come in various customized sizes too.

ParticipantI’m a big fan of the Garmin Dog GPS too, but I’d suggest investing in their longer-life battery. Living with a springer spaniel who loves her woodland adventures, it’s been a godsend for me. Also regarding size, it isn’t as bulky as some other models out there – hangs snugly on Daisy’s collar without bothering her. Bit pricey but worth every penny for the peace of mind it offers.

ParticipantJust reading the thread and I’m chuckling to myself because my border collie, Max, is another mega-fan of these Hollywood Stars dog treats. As much as they’re a bit on the larger side, he does seem to appreciate the challenge and thoroughly enjoys every nibble. That said, for smaller pups or older dogs with dental issues, breaking them into smaller pieces might be a safe bet.
The quality is top-notch too – they haven’t crumbled or cracked in the bag and even on hikes, they stay fresh and enjoyable for him. Made with wholesome materials which is always reassuring.
Price-wise, they are slightly more expensive than standard treats but honestly, seeing Max’s overexcited tail-wagging when he smells one, I’d say they’re well worth it! Anyone else’s fur-baby does a special ‘treat-dance’ for these delicious bites?
Happy-Siamese-6502
ParticipantWell, we tried Heart to Tail too for our Great Dane, Bruno. As much as the natural ingredients appealed to me, Bruno seems to have a different opinion. He sniffed it once and then completely lost interest. The smaller size of these treats also didn’t seem to attract this large fella as much as the grossly oversized ones from other brands do. So, if you have a larger dog that loves monster-sized treats like Bruno does, you might want to consider options with larger proportions. We switched over to Old Mother Hubbard’s Large dog biscuits which are not only big in size but are also filled with all-natural ingredients. A win-win- Bruno happy, mom happy! Any other suggestions for natural large-size treats?

ParticipantAgree 100% with the size issue! I tried the DIngo treats with my Maltese mix, who’s not exactly the biggest dog on the block either. He struggled to get through one of those ginormous treats, which was kind of a downer, especially since he seemed to love the taste.
I ended up breaking them into smaller pieces, which worked pretty well – he still got to enjoy his treat without any struggle. Though, it’d be so much better if they would offer various sizes to suit smaller breeds too.
Has anyone else been breaking them up, or maybe found a different brand that offers similar taste in a bite-sized format?

ParticipantI couldn’t agree more about the size of these Ol’ Roy dog treats. They’re absolutely perfect for my big fella, a Saint Bernard named Cooper. Coop’s a pretty picky eater but he goes nuts for them – even learnt to ‘sit’ quicker in anticipation of his favorite treat! The value for money is another big plus! The price is great and these treats last awhile, reducing frequent trips to the store. But like always, keep an eye on their intake, don’t want them getting too chunky! However, if you have smaller dogs or pets with dietary requirements, it might be worth consulting with your vet on suitable treat options. Anyone else with giant breeds noticed how much their dogs love these?

ParticipantWell, as a proud dad of two rambunctious Border Terriers with a never-ending appetite, I couldn’t resist trying these Hollywood Stars treats either. Got to admit, they’re massive! You could easily think you’re treating your doggos with a full meal! Once, I gave my boys one each before heading off to pick up the Sunday papers. Returned to them peacefully napping on the couch, belly-up and smiles wider than an Oscar winner’s!
In terms of their price, sure they can be considered pricey but it’s a luxury treat and sometimes our four-legged buddies deserve it too, you know? Definitely wouldn’t suggest these as an everyday reward though. As for the material and durability – well folks, lets just says if chewability was an Olympic sport, these treats would get gold!
As a tip – I prefer breaking em down into smaller bits for training purposes or to make ’em last longer. That might solve fellow Yorkie owner’s issue maybe?
Those with mini breed dogs like Shih Tzus or Yorkies ever tried supplementing their diet with smaller-sized treats? Which ones did you find worked best without being so oversized? Do share!
02/14/2025 at 8:48 AM in reply to: “Discovering the Taste and Nutrition of Wholehearted Dog Treats: My Experience and Review” #6935Happy-Siamese-6502
ParticipantI’ve also been using Wholehearted treats for a while now. Our golden retriever Bruno seems to be quite fond of them and quickly responds to commands anticipating his tasty reward. Love their size to be honest, they’re small enough that I can give him a few during our training sessions without overfeeding him. However, I’ve had some trouble with the packaging, it doesn’t seem very durable so storing after opening can be bit of a hassle. Does anyone else has this experience, or perhaps any suggestions for better storage options?
02/12/2025 at 7:50 PM in reply to: “Discovering the Taste and Nutrition of Wholehearted Dog Treats: My Experience and Review” #6932Happy-Siamese-6502
ParticipantTotally on the same page about Wholehearted dog treats! They’ve been a hit in my house too, especially with our chocolate lab, Bruno. He can be really picky with his snacks, but he chows down on these like there’s no tomorrow. Plus, the treat size is perfect for his rather large mouth to avoid any potential choking. For those with smaller pooches, you might wanna pay attention to the size tho and maybe break ’em down a little bit. But beyond that, thumbs up for being so budget-friendly considering thier quality! Anyone else find they’re dogs are preferring these over other high-end treats?
