ParticipantI definitely need to throw my hat into this discussion about Wag dry dog food. I have a Sheltie, Sammy, who’s a fairly finicky eater. Initially, she was pretty enthusiastic about Wag food, so I thought we were home free. But as weeks went by, her interest started waning annd she’d occasionally skip meals entirely. Here’s what I learned: having a variety of foods seems important to some dogs. I now mix Wag with another brand (Taste of The Wild is our choice) and Sammy loves it. No medical advice here, just personal observation – always consult with your vet while making significant changes in diet. Curious, anyone else noticed thier dogs ‘boredome eating’ before? How did you manage the situation?

ParticipantI absolutley agree, Heart to Tail dog treats are the bee’s knees in our household too! My Cocker Spaniel, Max, is a picky eater but these treats are the exception. He just went bonkers over the duck annd sweet potato variety. Really appreciated their size too – perfect for training purposes without overfeeding. One thing to monitor though, some of these treats can be a bit hard, so it might not be suitable for pups with sensitive or weak teeth. As always, any changes in diet or reaction should warrant a visit to your friendly neighborhood vet. Anyone else tried succulent flavors from Heart to Tail?

ParticipantI totally get where you guys are coming from about the size of these treats! My little yorkie, Benny, had a heck of a time trying to chomp down on thesebad boys. Even tho they’re larger than most, they were still durable enough to withstand his gnawing. For larger dogs like Labs and Boxers, I imagine these would be an absolute hit, especially considering their affordability!
Still, has anyone tried breaking them down into smaller pieces for smaller breeds? Does that affect their durability or your dogs’ interest in them? I personally noticed that Benny seemed far less interested once I started making the chunks smaller…it’s making me wonder if it’s just my Yorkie being picky, or if others have noticed this too!
Of course, as always, for digestive concerns related to new food or treat sizes, it won’t hurt to check with your vet!

Participantfellow dog owners! Another fan of Hollywood Stars dog treats here, and I’ve been using these products for several years with my Labrador, Bella. In terms of size, they are perfect for medium-to-large breeds like her – just the right fit. Plus, the price point doesn’t hurt the wallet too much, which is always a bonus.
A small piece of advice for newbies: It’s best to introduce these treats gradually into your dog’s diet, as you would with any new food item. Bella loved them from the get-go, but other dogs may need time to adjust.
Now I wonder if anyone’s tried using these treats for training purposes? My Bella’s already well-trained (19 years of dog experience pays off!), but I’m curious if they make good rewards in training for younger pups.
02/21/2025 at 4:59 PM in reply to: “Spoiling My Four-Legged Papillon: A DreamBone Dog Treats Review” #6993playfulpaws602
ParticipantComing from someone who has had dogs in their life for almost two decades, I wholeheartedly second the love for DreamBone dog treats here. My labradoodle, Fuzz, is a big fan too. The size annd durability of these treats are perfect for keeping him occupied and challenged during our training sessions. They’re not overly chewy but offer enough resistance to keep his jaws busy.
Here’s a fun little story about Fuzz and his DreamBones: once I accidentally dropped a treat behind the sofa and forgot about it. Later that evening, Fuzz was on an enthusiastic scavenger hunt. He wouldn’t rest until he had retrieved his beloved DreamBone treat! 😂
As for the price point, I’ve found them to be quite reasonable given the quality of the product. Once in a while I’ll switch things up with other brands, but we always come back to DreamBone.
P.S: Even tho my fuzzy boy loves them and has had no issues, it still stands to reason, if your pup experiences any discomfort or adverse reactions to any new treats, it’s always best to check with your vet. Stay safe, fellow fur parents!

ParticipantI’ve also found Aldi’s dog treats to be amazing value for the quality you’re getting. What surprises me most is the size distribution in each bag – my German Shepherd Brewster finds them jsut nicely sized while his little sister, a Dachshund named Poppy, takes her time but eventually gets through hers too. Only ever so slight hiccup was when Brewster got a particularly hard one that he didn’t like much. Apart from that, both dogs have absolutely devoured these treats, and not a single complaint about the digestibility or any troubles afterwards. However, if your pet does face any issues, I’d recommend consulting with a vet promptly. In terms of price, it’s really hard to beat what Aldi offers. Certainly plan on continuing this tasty tradition at our home!

ParticipantI’d have to agree with you guys about Applaws’ quality and nutrient profile. Switched my active jack russell, Molly, onto it about 2 years ago after browsing different brands for nutrient-rich foods not pumped full of fillers and byproducts. She’s been doing great since we made the shift, energetic as ever and her coat even seems shinier! But I gotta say, it’s a bit on the pricier side compared to other brands. Definitely something to consider if you’re feeding a larger breed or multiples dogs. Has anyone else noticed a difference in their dog’s energy levels or coat condition?
12/29/2024 at 11:30 AM in reply to: “Why the Switch to Trekker’s Calming Dog Treats Was Totally Worth It!” #7298playfulpaws602
ParticipantOh boy, here I thought I was the lone fan of Trekker’s Calming Dog Treats in this wild dog-owning world! I’ve been using them for my feisty wee Jack Russell, and whoa buddy, they’ve been a game changer! Before Trekkers’ treats, walking Max felt like trying to tame a wild-born hyena. Now he’s more of a domesticated badger – still got that spirited edge but much easier to manage.
These treats are spot on size-wise for smaller breeds like mine. There’s no question about durability either – could probably build a mini dog-fort with these babies (kidding!).
And folks, don’t get me started on the price. For all they offer, these treats should be marketed as gold nuggets (that thankfully don’t cost an arm and a leg).
But hey, just outta curiosity, anyone else have tricks on how they use ’em? Like during training or particular times of day? My Max seems to respond best during our evening walks post-dinner.
12/25/2024 at 4:13 PM in reply to: “Why the Switch to Trekker’s Calming Dog Treats Was Totally Worth It!” #7290playfulpaws602
ParticipantTotally with you there, folks! My energetic husky, Blizzard, used to be so hyperactive during family gatherings. I tried Trekker’s Calming Dog Treats based on a friend’s recommendation and to my surprise, they really worked wonders. The convenient size of these treats is just perfect for medium to large dogs like Blizzard.
I really appreciate their durability too; unlike other calming treats which can crumble easily, these stay intact in my pocket while we’re on the go. Plus, their price is kinder to the wallet compared to some other high-end options on the market.
Remember though, just like with any behavioral modification aid, it’s important not to over-rely on these treats alone for calming your dog – training and appropriate stimulation are key also. Has anyone found similar success with other natural calming treat brands? Or any additional tips for managing high-energy pups during social events? Let’s share!

ParticipantI have a small Shih Tzu named Daisy who’s also on the Canidae All Life Stages formula. Despite her picky eating habits, she gobbles it right up and seems to really enjoy it. I noticed that the kibble size is perfect for her small teeth too. My question is, for those of you with larger breeds like German Shepherds or Retrievers, does the kibble size work well for them too or do you find yourself wishing it was bigger? The price point works for me but just wanted to hear other’s experiences with this.
playfulpaws602
ParticipantOh boy, where to begin on Old Mother Hubbard Dog Treats? I was once like you all, charmed by the promises these treats carried. Size? Perfect for my medium schnauzer. Price? Slightly higher quotient but reasonable for their supposed “superior quality.” What went wrong then, you’d ask!
Narrate my biggest folly: the day I left a couple of these treats on our coffee table, only to find them intact at the very spot hours later. My dog Ellie, the same pup that garners envy from her peers for her impeccable tastes (might I remind you – she once chewed through a leather couch), didn’t give these doggy delicacies a second sniff.
So here’s my two paws up review- it’s elicited more excitement from me than it ever did from Ellie. In future, I would suggest introducing new treats when your dog shows genuine interest and in smaller quantities— don’t make my blunder of commitment to an entire bag straightaway! For any sudden change in their eating habits though, always always consult a vet.
Your move now, folks. Anybody else got ghosted by their pooch with these delish treats?
11/06/2024 at 6:45 PM in reply to: “Honest Nutro Dog Treats Review: Efficient and Value for Money, Perhaps?” #6805playfulpaws602
ParticipantWell, well, well. Jumping on the Nutro train too, eh? Gotta say, these treats are something. And by “something”, I mean an absolute winner in my books. Got a hyperactive Siberian Husky – a monster that can chew through anything you put in front of him. From stuffed animals to supposedly indestructible toys – all fair game.
I started giving him these Nutro goodies about a year ago and haven’t looked back. They’re the perfect size for his wolf-like jaw and crunchy yet not so hard he’ll lose a tooth trying to enjoy his reward. Hasn’t turned his snout up at them once – age hasn’t dulled his enthusiasm, the old timer.
About price? Worth every single penny. These aren’t just dog treats; they’re lifelines during obedience training sessions or when you’re just trying to get some peace and quiet around the house. Treats with purpose, if you will.
Fair warning though – don’t go overboard handing out treats left, right and center no matter how much your pooch begs – it’s easy to spoil them with these little morsels (I fell into THAT trap). Balance is key. Introduce these Nutro gems gradually into their diet and always keep an eye on their weight & general health.
Anyone else here have some tales of their pups demolishing these treats in record time?
playfulpaws602
ParticipantI’ve also hopped on the Old Mother Hubbard Dog Treats train over a year ago for my little Shih Tzu, Bella. She absolutely adores them and it’s a sure-fire way to get her attention during our daily training routines. The treat size is perfect for small breeds like Bella, but I’d be curious to know if anyone with larger dogs finds them too small? On another note, has anybody tried their grain-free version? We are considering it but would love some firsthand reviews!
10/17/2024 at 11:52 PM in reply to: “An Honest Buddy Biscuits Dog Treats Review: From a Fussy Eater’s Perspective” #6957playfulpaws602
ParticipantOh boy, Buddy Biscuits! Don’t get me started. Tried them with my Dachshund, Rufus – king of picky eaters, and he gobbled them right up. For training though, not the best choice due to their size. However, you could break ’em into smaller pieces… although watch your fingers if your fur buddy is as eager as Rufus! Price-wise, totally worth it for the joy on his little face. Anyone use these with super small breeds? assertThat might be a fun mini-adventure…or a mess!
10/07/2024 at 5:50 PM in reply to: Stewart Dog Treats Review: A Detailed Look into My Pup’s New Favorite Snack #6770playfulpaws602
ParticipantI’ve found that not only does my Bella love Stewart treats, but they’re just the right size for her too. She’s a smaller breed so it’s been a challenge finding treats that aren’t too large or hard for her to handle. However, with Stewart’s, I had no such worries. Plus, they last a pretty good while – durability is definitely one of the top characteristics. As for pricing, I’d say they’re fairly reasonable given the quality annd the fact that Bella can’t get enough of them! Would highly recommend for anyone struggling with picky eaters or smaller pups with specific dietary needs!
Side note: I do sometimes change things up and go for Blue Buffalo’s training treats – another favorite of Bella’s, and great alternative if you want to switch things around occasionally.
