ParticipantI’ve been feeding my Golden Retriever, Sunny, Ollie’s dry food for about six months now. I get it, pups like Sunny are no match for smaller breeds when it comes to meal sizes. But hefty bag or not, the price point can be steep if you’re planning on making this their main diet. My tip is this: mix in some high quality wet food to stretch out those Ollie bags without sacrificing a balanced diet. This has worked wonders for us. Yet, do keep an eye on your dog’s condition; if there are any drastic changes, take him/her to the vet. How about you guys? Any other wallet-friendly feeding hacks up your sleeves?

ParticipantCan’t agree more with the love for Old Mother Hubbard Dog Treats here. I’m currently on my third bag for my playful little beagle, Fergus! As a dog owner of 13 years, one thing that stands out for me is their size – they’re perfect for smaller dogs but they also work great as a quick reward during training sessions too. Their price point is decent for the quality you get. Has anyone else noticed how their dogs seem specially attracted to the Classic P-Nuttier flavor?

ParticipantThough I have to give props to Pet Pride for their affordability, my doggo Chester seems to prefer Zesty Paws’ Aller-Immune Bites. These treats are a bit larger, but they have this chewy texture that keeps the big man occupied for a while. It was quite the switch though – we transitioned slowly from Pet Pride, introducing a couple of Zesty Paws treats at first to see how he would react. Anyone else tried tossing their pup a Zesty Paw now and then? Love to hear your experiences!

ParticipantTotally agree with you all – Good Lovin’ treats have been a game-changer for us! We’ve got an 11 year-old Golden Retriever, Benji, who’s still as playful and energetic as a pupper, and these treats are his absolute favourite rewards. They’re the perfect size for training sessions without him getting too full, and they seem super durable in terms of shelf life.
Not to menttion the price point – they’re surprisingly affordable considering how much my fur-buddy loves ’em. I personally think it’s great value for money. Just goes to show that you don’t need to break the bank for your doggo to feel spoiled. 🙂
Has anyone else noticed thier dog being more obedient when they use these treats? Or is it just my Benji being an extra good boy?

ParticipantWhile I see where you’re all coming from with the Ollie dry dog food, I’ve kind of found my stride with ‘Taste of the Wild’ for my golden retriever, Charlie. Talk about a dog chowing down with gusto! Size-wise it’s similar to Ollie’s kibble but there are more flavor variations which lets me keep Charlie’s diet exciting. Just remember guys, not all dogs have the same nutritional needs – what works for one might not necessarily be the answer for another. Do consider discussing diet options with your vet for tailored advice. Anyone else tried ‘Taste of the Wild’? What was your experience?

ParticipantYeah, it’s hard to beat Nutro treats in terms of value for money. My Husky, Freya, absolutely loves ’em – she practically does a little dance every time she spots the bag! And with a pretty swift gobble rate and desirable size, they make for great training incentives.
But an odd thing I’ve noticed? Despite the perfect size for small and medium dogs, they prove a bit challenging for larger breeds like Freya. She tries to devour them whole, which worries me a little. Anybody else noticed this with their larger pups?
My advice: if you got a bigger doggo, maybe break the treat into smaller pieces before giving it to them just as a safety measure – until Nutro comes up with something more size-friendly! As always though, if any major eating issues occur, best consult your vet. Anyone got additional tips for making these treats work for our large furry friends?

ParticipantOh, Good Lovin’ treats? Another product of the hypetrain! Used them with my own Rottweiler, Rocky for a little while. The bite-sized pieces were actually perfect for training but I found their durability quite questionable – crumbles a lot, mates. Price-wise though, they’re not particularly hard on the wallet. In my honest opinion, there are treats out there that can offer you better balance between cost and quality. Check’em out and let the doggos have their pick! Send ’em to sniff town in your local pet store next time you’re there. Might save you from another hype-induced disappointment!

ParticipantI’ve also been trying out Good Lovin’ treats, but with my Golden Retriever, Daisy. She’s a big girl and these treats are sometimes too small for her. She’d almost swallow them whole! Plus, the pricing is just slightly steep in my opinion. I often find myself turning towards Zuke’s Mini Naturals Dog Treats not only because they’re a tad larger, best suited for larger breeds like Daisy but also they are quite affordable. I think it’s definitely worth trying different options to see which one suits your pup and your pocket the best. Any other folks here using Zuke’s? What’s been your experience?

ParticipantI’ve given my golden retriever, Max, Old Mother Hubbard treats and he really seemed to like them. They have a nice crunch, which he seems to enjoy more than softer treats. What concerns me, though is the size. I feel they’re quite small for larger breeds and I’m always concerned about choking hazards, especially at treat-time when Max couldn’t be more excited!
In terms of price, they’re not bad, but there are similar options out there that offer bigger-sized treats with the same wholesome ingredients, like Blue Buffalo’s Health Bars. My Max loves their pumpkin and cinnamon variety – it smells good enough for me to eat! Anyone else notice smaller treat sizes becoming common?
And as always, watch you dog as they snack. Better safe than sorry!

ParticipantThe Stewart dog treats have really been a game changer in my household too. My energetic Collie, Skipper, has taken quite the liking to them ever since I first brought them home. I’ve found that they are fantastic not only for training due to their size and bite-ability, but also as a simple treat when Skipper’s been a good boy. They’re durable enough to keep him busy for a bit, but not so hard that he might hurt his teeth – perfect balance! For those with a stricter budget, it’s worth mentioning that while the price point is slightly high, the quantity and quality of these treats really do justify the cost. Does anyone else feel like their bag of Stewarts lasts longer than other brands?

ParticipantI’ve been giving the Fruitables treats to my terrier, Benji, for the past year or so and he absolutely loves them. They’re just the right size for his small mouth, and I appreciate the variety in flavors offered. Price-wise, I also think they’re pretty reasonable for a high-quality dog treat. That said, I do have a bit of concern with the durability of the packaging; it’s easy for Benji to sneak into if left within reach! Anyone else had this issue or am I just not storing them properly? In terms of value though, these treat can’t be beat. Just make sure to keep an eye on your furry friend around that packet! Talking from experience here, folks!
Loyal_Siamese_9145
ParticipantI’ve also introduced my pup, Daisy, to Fruitables a few months back and she simply can’t get enough of them! They’re great in terms of size and durability for training purposes, but I have noticed they can be a bit pricey compared to some other treats on the market. However, I believe quality trumps quantity in this case as my Daisy always looks forward to her training sessions now. How many treats do you usually give Max during a session? Always recommended to keep an eye on his weight and adjust accordingly. The crunchy texture is also quite helpful in keepings those canine teeth clean; just double-checking, your Labrador has no problems with hard treats right? Remember to consult your vet if unsure!
Alternative: My friend uses Zuke’s Mini Naturals Dog Treats as a more budget-friendly option and her dog seems to love them as well.

ParticipantStewart Dog Treats, A Quality Snack My Pup Can’t Resist
Oh, absolutely! Are Stewart dog treats top-tier, or what? I initially ordered them thinking they might just be another one of those over-hyped products. But boy was I wrong! Our 5-year-old Golden Retriever, Muffin, instantly fell in love with them.
They’re perfect when it comes to size and are just hard enough for her to enjoy a bit of a chew but not too tough to where I worry about her teeth. Plus, the price for the amount you get isn’t bad either; definitely decent value for money.
Did anyone else find their dog having a new favorite “flavour”? Muffin is quite partial to the Beef Liver Bites and hardly even glances at her old snack favourites ever since we introduced these. Just wondering if other pooches developed a similar liking for these treats as well.
10/06/2024 at 2:59 AM in reply to: “Finally Tried the Happy Hips Dog Treats: Here’s My Honest Review” #7074Loyal_Siamese_9145
ParticipantJust wanted to weigh in as a long-time dog lover and owner here. I’ve been using Happy Hips with my old Pointer, Molly, for a good year now. I really appreciate the ease of use and convenience-factor with these treats, plus they’re certainly sturdy enough to withstand Molly’s relentless chewing. In terms of size, they are perfect for her, not too big but substantial enough for her to enjoy.
However, while Molly seems to like them okay, I must admit they are on the pricier side compared to other similar products we’ve tried. As much as Molly enjoys them, we do use them sparingly due to the cost. If budget is a concern, I’d recommend alternating Happy Hips with less expensive treats that your dog also likes. Remember, it’s always worth discussing any significant dietary changes with your vet.
That said, anyone else feel like their pooch loves Happy Hips more than other treats?
10/02/2024 at 2:08 PM in reply to: “An Honest Buddy Biscuits Dog Treats Review: From a Fussy Eater’s Perspective” #6951Loyal_Siamese_9145
ParticipantTotally in agreement with all the love for Buddy Biscuits here! I recently introduced them to my older Lab, Max, and he’s been wagging his tail non-stop ever since. The size of the biscuits is indeed perfect for a larger breed dog, not too small or large. One thing I’ve noticed though – do they seem harder than other biscuits to any of you? With Max’s ageing teeth, I usually soften them a bit in warm water before giving it to him. Was just curious if anyone else has this practice or found another solution?
