I’ve got to say, my experience with Happy Dog Dry Food was acceptable, but not superb. I mean, its kibble size is perfect for both small and large breeds—my terriers and Labradors have no trouble gulping them down. And yes, it’s pretty durable in terms of shelf life, which is a bonus when bulking buying. But the composition—it just struck me as lacklustre in comparison to some other brands out there on the market.

For instance, I switched one of my Labs over to Blue Buffalo Wilderness recently and, without making any specific health claims, I can see she’s got a bit more spring in her step during our morning jogs. Now, it may be her age or it might be the diet change—I’m not sure. It’s more expensive than Happy Dog but given my observation with her energy levels increasing I reckon it might be worth considering.

Has anyone else tried both Happy Dog and Blue Buffalo Wilderness? Would be interesting to know if your furry friends showed similar changes or not. And remember guys, always consider consulting your vet before changing your pup’s diet!

I totally get where you’re coming from with your review of Happy Dog Dry Food. Our Lab, Rosco, didn’t exactly jump for joy either when we first fed him this brand. I think the kibble size could be a problem, especially for larger dogs like ours. They seem a bit small and Rosco had to cram quite a lot before he felt full. In the affordability department however, it definitively earns a few points. It’s durable that it doesn’t easily crumble and turn into dust. But here’s my question: did you notice any changes in your dog’s coat or overall energy level after switching to Happy Dog? I’m curious coz Rosco’s been somewhat lethargic recently and I can’t tell whether it’s the food or just his moods playing up.

I’ve got the same experience with Happy Dog Dry Food as you have. Our Belgian Malinois, Max, was pretty indifferent to it. He ate it alright, but not with much gusto. Kind of unusual since Max is usually not picky about his food. It also made his stool a bit loose for my liking so we switched to other dry foods after finishing the bag. I’d recommend owners to be observant about how their dogs react to new food especially related to digestion; don’t hesitate switching if your pet seems uncomfortable. Definitely consult a vet too if there are any troubling signs!

As for an alternative, have you tried Nutro’s Ultra Dry Food? Max went gaga over their chicken, lamb, and salmon recipe! Hands down, Max never had any digestive issue with this product and he looks just as healthy and active as before, if not more. The price tag is slightly heavy on the pocket compared to Happy Dog, but I think the premium ingredients makes it worth investment.

jsut wanted to chime in on the Happy Dog Dry Food discussion here. I recently switched my golden retriever, Ginger, to this brand based on the affordable pricing. She didn’t seem too enthusiastic about it at first, but now she eats it up without a problem.

I did notice some changes in her coat, it appears shinier than before. Can’t say for sure if it’s just a natural seasonal change or the new food though. Did anyone else observe similar changes after switching to Happy Dog? For any alarming changes, obviously, we should reach out to our vets – thought this could be an interesting discussion point!

Just wanted to jump in on this thread about Happy Dog Dry Food. I’ve been feeding my German Shepherd, Luna, this food for quite some time now and she absolutely adores it! She’s been thriving on it, and her coat appears glossier than ever. But I’ve noticed the kibble size is slightly larger compared to other dry foods. Has anyone else noticed this with their pups? Does your dog struggle to eat it or do they enjoy the challenge of bigger kibble pieces? Love to get some feedback on this aspect!

Alright, I’m here to offer an alternative view on the Happy Dog Dry Food situation. I personally switched my Labrador, Bella, to Orijen Original Dry Dog Food about 2 years ago and have been thrilled with the results.

With Happy Dog, Bella was eating alright, but her coat looked kinda dull and she wasn’t as active for a young Lab. Once we started with Orijen, her coat got shinier and was full of energy – noticeable difference! Plus she gobbles up every meal like there’s no tomorrow, so taste wise it’s pretty spot on.

On top of that, Orijen foods are a tad pricy than Happy Dog but they’re rich in proteins and grain-free which make them great quality for the price, I believe. Sure, it’s a little more coin out of pocket initially but in the long run seems like a good investment for Bella’s overall wellbeing.

I know everyone’s expereince can be different, but I thought I’d bring up an alternative that worked wonders for my pup. Anyone else tried Orijen or other brands after switching from Happy Dog?

Well, hats off to everyone singing praises for Happy Dog Dry Food. I gotta say, my experience sings a different tune. I moved Buster, my five-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, onto the Happy Dog stuff and it wasn’t pretty. The food bits are just too small for his jaws and the dish was constantly a mess – food shooting out left and right with each enthusiastic chomp. Not to mention that it’s not exactly easy on the wallet if you catch my drift. After three chaotic weeks, I switched him over to “Big Chompers Supreme” dry food; larger pieces designed for broader-jaw breeds. Life’s been less messy since, and my bank account is happier too! Of course, every dog’s different so you might have a different luck. But always consider size & breed specificity before committing to a brand, folks! Anybody else here has experience with “Big Chomper Supreme”?

Has anyone else noticed a change in their pooch’s energy level since they started Happy Dog Dry Food? I recently switched my trusty beagle, Fred, to this brand and have seen an uptick in his overall liveliness. Not sure if it’s the food or if it’s just because we’ve been spending more time at the park lately.

Also, the kibble size is perfect for him and it doesn’t break apart easily like some other brands we’ve tried. However, one concern I have is about the price, it seems a bit steep compared to others. Do you guys think the benefits justify the higher cost?

I’ve heard that rotating between different foods can be beneficial for dogs’ health – might be worth discussing with your vet if you’re concerned. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

It’s quite refreshing to see multiple views on Happy Dog Dry Food. I’ve recently switched my golden retriever to this brand of food and it’s been nothing short of brilliant for her. She was a tad underweight and not showing much of an appetite before, but with this food, she chows down almost instantly! I can see her energy levels have also shot up, evident from the fact that she wants to play fetch way more than before.

In terms of size, I’d say the kibble is perfect even for smaller breeds (had a Maltese over for playdate and he managed just fine). The price tag does make you think twice but honestly, when it’s about our fur-babies health and happiness, it feels so worth it. Pardon some typos – typing while keeping a frisky Retriever at bay isn’t easy peazy.

But if your doggo seems unhappy or shows signs of discomfort after the switch, it’s probably best to check in with your vet. Anybody else notice their dogs’ coats getting glossier with Happy Dog? Or am I connecting unassociated dots here?

Reply: I’d like to chime in here as someone who’s been using Happy Dog Dry Food for a little over a year now. My 7-year-old Border Collie, Rex, was getting bored of his previous food and his coat was looking a bit dull. Since switching to Happy Dog, not only has his coat regained its luster, but he seems more energetic and enthusiastic during our long beach walks too.

Now talking about the food itself, it’s worth mentioning the size and texture of the kibble. They’re not too large or hard, which makes it easier for Rex to chew and digest. A minor detail that many might not consider is the packaging durability. It has held up pretty well even beng shoved into corners and occasionally pawed at by an eager Rex.

I do feel that the price is a tad on the higher side compared to other brands, but given how much Rex loves it and considering the positive effects on his health (always consult with your vet first), I think it’s worth it!

As an additional note, I would recommend introducing any new food into your dog’s diet gradually. I started transitioning Rex onto Happy Dog by replacing about 10% of his old food every few days until he was fully switched over.

Anyone else introduced Happy Dog slowly or did you make the switch all at once? I’m curious to know what other fur parents have tried!

I’ve been using Happy Dog Dry Food for my ol’ buddy Max, a border collie mix, for around 8 months now. I was a bit skeptical at first due to the slightly higher price tag, but honestly, it’s been worth every penny. Max seems more energetic and his coat is looking shinier. He also finishes his bowl faster than ever before which never happened with our previous brands.

My tip for anyone considering a switch would be to gradually introduce the food into your dog’s diet – suddenly changing foods can sometimes upset thier stomachs. It took Max about a week to fully adjust to Happy Dog.

Has anyone noticed if the food retains its freshness after opening? We’re halfway through our first bag and it still seems pretty good so far… But always looking for more insights from fellow pup parents!

It’s quite funny how we humans quibble over pet food like it’s our personal dining experience! That being said, I’ve been feeding Happy Dog Dry Food to my border collie mix, Romeo, for around 6 months now. For a bit of context, Romeo is a fussy eater – he’d prefer chasing his tail over eating most things! But with Happy Dog, his bowl is empty every time. The smaller kibble size seems to suit him and the packaging promises only high-quality ingredients. Price-wise, it’s a tad bit higher than our previous brand but hey, anything for our fur babies! Just a word of caution though – every dog is individual and what works for Romeo might not work for your pooch. Always consult your vet when switching your dog’s diet.

P.S. Has anyone noticed how their dogs’ coats have improved after switching to this? Might be the fish oil or just Romeo showing off his glossy coat!
