Well, talk about all bark and no bite. Tried giving my Golden Retriever, Zeus, Alpo Prime Cuts Dry Dog Food, big mistake! It’s bulky chunks were a total turn off for Zeusy- he had trouble even chomping down on them. I ended up wasting more money than saving with this “affordable” choice, because we threw out half the bag.

Funny thing, though- the neighborhood raccoons loved it! So, if you’re really looking to adopt a racoon army… this could be your golden ticket. Serious tip: For the pickier eaters like my Zeus, try switching it up sometimes. Different flavors or switching between dry and wet food can do wonders.

Anyone else have a fussy Fido when it comes to kibble size? Or were you lucky with a pup that swallows everything whole like a vacuum cleaner?

Oh, you’re singing my song with this Alpo Prime Cuts review. My Boxer, Rocky, turned his snout up at it like he was suddenly royalty or something. The kibble pieces were jsut too big for him to crunch on casually, annd the toughness of those pieces – another story in itself! As for the price point, I felt like we were paying a premium for it to just end up untouched in his bowl. Changed to Canidae All Life Stages and haven’t looked back since. Out of curiosity, has anyone else noticed their dogs having a hard time with the size and texture of Alpo’s kibbles?

You’re absolutely right about the Alpo Prime Cuts. My Labrador, Buddy, didn’t care for it either. At first glance, the size annd texture seemed perfect for him since he’s a big guy with a strong jaw, but he just was not interested in it at all. I tried mixing it with some wet food, thinking maybe he’d get used to it gradually. To my surprise, Buddy started picking out the Alpo kibbles and only eating the wet food! It’s decently priced, but what good is that if our furry mates won’t eat it, right? As for an alternative, I’ve found that Hill’s Science Diet went down a treat with Buddy; maybe your pups might fancy a change too? But remember, any diet changes should be made gradually and under the supervision of a vet to avoid digestive problems.

Totally get where all of you are coming from with the Alpo Prime Cuts dry food. I have a Beagle named Daisy and she wasn’t a fan either; barely even sniffed it before deciding to walk away. From a dog owner’s perspective, I did appreciate the size of the kibble pieces – not too small, not too big, seemed just right for medium-sized pooches like mine. But at the end of the day, palatability matters a lot when it comes to food, right? Luckily no health issues noted but quickly switched to another brand after Daisy’s reaction. She now enjoys Hill’s Science Diet Adult Advanced Fitness formula and seems to absolutely love it! Always remember what our dogs prefer can sometimes be trial and error. If your pup is finicky about this one, maybe consider trying another option. And if there are any digestion problems or pickiness that worries you, definitely worth checking in with the vet’s office.

Oh, so I’m not the only one experiencing the ‘Alpo Prime Cuts standoff’ with my pooch! My stubborn Shih Tzu, Daisy, literally did a sniff annd walk away routine when I first introduced Alpo Prime Cuts to her. Even enticed with a little bit of cheese sprinkled on top (her favorite), she simply wasn’t having it. With the price being quite affordable compared to some other brands, I honestly had high hopes that this would become our new go-to. But alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

Anyone else try any luck by mixing Alpo Prime Cuts with another brand? If so, what kind? Can’t help but wonder if there’s some kibble out there that might play nice with these prime cuts. Meanwhile, looking to find another nourishing yet budget-friendly substitute for Daisy. Suggestions welcomed!

Yeah, chiming in here with the ‘Alpo Prime Cuts standoff.’ My Boxer, Rufus, gave me the same look! Played around with the kibble size and mix-ins but no go. I’ve found a bit of success transitioning slowly – like ridiculously slowly – from his old food to the Alpo over a month or so. Still wasn’t his favorite but he got used to it. Honestly though, if your dog isn’t into it, maybe try another brand that caters to their palates better (you know what they say about leading a horse to water!). Check with our vet for suggestions if you’re not sure! Dogs are just like us; they have flavor preferences too!

So, I hear your Alpo Prime Cuts woes, and boy, do they resonate. There was a month-long period when my long-suffering Lab, Buddy, would barely touch his bowl if that’s what I served him – all while giving me the saddest ‘is this it?’ look. In my experience, switching to a different brand can sometimes help to stir up some enthusiasm.

I’ve moved over to the Pedigree Chopped Ground Dinner which he seems to love. It’s about the same price range as the Alpo Prime Cuts dry food, but the texture and moisture content appear more appealing to him. Of course, every dog differs in thier preferences. Has anyone else tried any other brands that have proven to be a hit with their fussy eaters?

Haha, good to see my gal Ruby ain’t the only diva turning up her snout at Alpo Prime Cuts! She can clearly pass as a food critic eying a questionable plate with those piercing puppy eyes. Anyway, here’s something we tried: I’ve switched to Nature’s Recipe Grain Free dog food. She loves it; devours every morsel and looks excited at meal times. It’s a bit pricer, but considering my vet bills on account of food-related issues reduced significantly, I’d say it’s worth it. Ever thought of trying a different brand?

Ha, oh definitely not alone! I went through the Alpo Prime Cuts journey with my good boy Charlie, and it was nothing short of a culinary sitcom. Let’s just say the look he gave me was half adorable disbelief, and half “Seriously, human?” I think the size of the kibble might have been a bit overwhelming for him.

My advice? Try transitioning your dogs gradually into new food types if you chose to switch again in the future since sudden change might put them off. Also, always remember that what works for one pooch might not necessarily work for another – it’s all about their individual preferences and dietary needs. Vet consultation is never out of place when considering such changes too.

Anyone else got any “love at first sniff” or “snubbed by snout” stories about introducing new food to your fur babies? Love hearing your experiences!

Got a chuckle from the Ruby and Charlie tales! Jasper, my rambunctious Boxer, also met Alpo Prime Cuts with a less than enthusiastic reception. But, oddly enough, he enjoyed it more when I reduced its quantity and mixed it with wet dog food. Maybe the texture or the combo of flavors did the trick? Has anyone else experimented this way with dry food? Also, I can’t help but wonder if Alpo has any plans for variation in kibble size; might be more enticing for our furry pals!

Hearing your stories reminds me of when my Cockapoo, Benny, first tried Alpo Prime Cuts. He’s generally not a picky eater, but this one just didn’t do it for him. I found the kibble size was a little too large for him and he didn’t seem to enjoy the taste much either. For any smaller breed owners out there, just something to consider before picking it up at the store. Lastly remember, if your fur baby continually rejects a certain food, it might be worth a trip to the vet to ensure there aren’t any underlying health issues!

Laughing a bit here remembering the first time our feisty Beagle, Max, met Alpo Prime Cuts – he dove straight into his bowl like there was no tomorrow. Looks like it’s a universal hit among our four-legged friends. We personally found the kibble size to be just right for our small to medium home-buddies – easy to chew and swallow, and they seem pretty content with their portions too. For those who have dogs with bigger mouths or higher metabolisms, you might want to consider topping it up with some easy homemade extras like boiled carrots or peas for extra satisfaction so their bellies feel fuller longer. By the way, anyone else got funny stories of their pups’ first encounters with this chow? Should brighten up our day!

Just remember if your furry friend starts showing changes in appetite or behavior after switching food, always consult your vet. It’s best to make sure delicate tummies are adapting well to a new diet before it becomes a staple.
