I totally understand your struggle with a picky eater; I’ve got a finicky Jack Russell myself! After trying out different brands with no luck, Taste of the Wild Dry Dog Food has definitely been a game-changer for us. Not only does he like it (Win!), but I’ve noticed his coat has a healthier shine and he seems more energetic too. The price is higher than some other brands, but in my opinion, it’s worth every penny considering the quality and benefits!

My tip would be to transition gradually if you’re switching food brands – sudden change can sometimes upset a dog’s stomach.

Has anyone else noticed health improvements in their dogs after switching to Taste of the Wild?

Oh, the saga of a finicky eater, a tale as old as time! So your furry little gourmand finally took to Taste of the Wild Dry Dog Food, eh? Welcome to the club! My snobby Schnauzer also turned his snout up at everything else until we stumbled upon this gem. Speaking of size, their kibble is small enough for tiny jaws and big enough for our chunkier friends. Also, I appreciate that it’s grain-free! At first, Chester thought he was being served a five-star meal every breakfast and dinner. But the real winner here is my wallet—great quality without needing to sell a kidney for it. You know what they say ‘happy dog, happy life’ or something along those lines. P.S., give them slow introductions if switching foods; sudden changes can lead to upset tummies. Always keep an eye on your dog’s reactions and consult with a vet when necessary.

So who else in this forum has had success with their fussy eaters trying out this brand? Let’s dish some deets!

I can relate to your saga! When my Border Collie, Max, turned his nose up at every grocery store kibble, I decided to experiment with Taste of the Wild Dry Dog Food. Remarkably, this normally selective eater devoured the bison and venison flavor like he hadn’t seen food for days!

In terms of size and material, the kibbles are small enough for easy chewing and appear high-quality. The ingredient list impressed me too – no fillers or artificial stuff. It’s a tad bit pricier than what we were used to, but seeing how much Max enjoyed it made it worth every penny.

The only thing to keep in mind is that sudden changes in diet may cause tummy troubles. So, it’s best to introduce the new food gradually over seven days or so. If you notice any negative reactions (loose stools etc.), consulting with a vet would be a good idea.

Overall, a big thumbs up from our household. Has anyone else seen positive changes after switching their picky eaters to Taste of the Wild?

I know the struggle all too well. When my golden retriever, Sadie, started turning her nose up at her usual kibble, I was out of ideas. On a whim, I decided to give Taste of the Wild a try and Sadie actually began eating with gusto! In terms of price and sizing options, it gives a pretty competitive package. The high-quality ingredients like buffalo, lamb meal and chicken meal that they use are just what my Sadie needs for her health. Don’t forget to transition your dog from their current food to Taste of the Wild gradually over 7-10 days though. Has your dog shown any preferences for a specific flavor?

Absolutely understand your struggle with a finicky eater. My Boston terrier, Nero, was the same way until we switched to Taste of the Wild. The kibble size is perfect for him – he has a bit of an underbite annd sometimes smaller pieces are easier for him to manage. Plus, I’ve noticed his coat looks healthier and shinier since making the switch.

Now from a financial standpoint, it might not be the cheapest out there, but considering how much Nero loves it and how much better he’s doing health-wise (his coat condition being a good indicator), makes it worth every penny.

The only downside? Once you open the bag, you need to ensure it’s sealed properly after every usage to maintain its crunchiness. Trial and error taught me that Nero won’t touch his food if that crunch isn’t there! So yeah, lesson learned: always secure your bags of Taste of the Wild.

But overall, really pleased at how this change turned out for us. Might anyone have any suggestions on which flavour variant to try next for a little variety? We’ve been rotating between the Roasted Bison & Venison and Smoked Salmon so far…

Completely agree with your review! I switched my ol’ Boxer Buddy to Taste of the Wild nearly 3 years ago and, to be honest, it’s been nothing short of fantastic. Buddy’s coat shines brighter than ever and he really seems to enjoy every small kibble. The smaller pieces are ideal for his age; I’ve noticed far less tooth-related struggles during meal times. As per price, while slightly on the higher side, it’s worth every penny considering the nutritional benefits and Buddy’s renewed enthusiasm for food.

One quick tip: introducing this new food slowly by mixing it with their regular food works wonders, at least that’s how it went perfectly smooth for us. Worth giving a shot if anyone else is considering the switch!

Anyone tried other flavors from Taste of the Wild? Would love to hear how dogs reacted!

there, just chiming in to agree with your review. I’ve had my own finicky Shih Tzu, Chloe, for over 7 years now and we also switched to Taste of the Wild about 2 years ago. What I noticed was that she actually started enjoying her meals and her coat looked even shinier!

In terms of size, the kibbles are small enough for her little mouth, and from what I observe, she doesn’t have any difficulty chewing at all. Durability-wise, the bag is well-made and keeps the food fresh–a big plus in my book.

In terms of pricing, well, it is a bit on the higher side compared to some others but in my opinion, it’s worth every penny considering how much Chloe loves it and how beneficial it’s been to her health (always consult your vet if in doubt).

Quick tip: For those switching their dogs’ diet to a new brand like Taste of the Wild, do it gradually over a few days so they can better adapt to the change. Start off mixing a small amount of new food into their old food and slowly increase the proportion of the new diet.

Anyone else who switched and saw an improvement or unexpected changes?

It’s wonderful to hear so many success stories with Taste of the Wild! I have a Golden Retriever, Jake, who used to be a rather picky eater until we made the switch. One thing I noticed – and maybe you’ve found this too – was that this food seemed to significantly reduce his usual ‘doggy’ breath.

For those who’ve been feeding your dogs this for some time though, how’s the portion size working for you? I ask as Jake is quite a large dog, and sometimes I worry if he’s getting enough or perhaps too much. We always followed the instructions on the bag, but every dog is different after all! Is there any particular feeding regimen you’ve found to work well? Always eager to learn more about my fur buddy’s needs!

It’s been a similar journey for me and my terrier, Toby. We switched to Taste of the Wild about a year ago because he was becoming quite the picky eater. Best decision we ever made, his appetite certainly perked up! The only downside, I’ve found, is that the kibble size can be a bit much for smaller breeds like mine. For anyone with small dogs, do you break down the kibble or has your pet managed to handle it okay?

It seems as though Taste of the Wild is a hit with many finicky eaters. My experience mirrors yours, particularly with my stubborn Beagle, Bella. We struggled to find a food she would consistently enjoy until we tried Taste of the Wild’s Pacific Stream recipe. The smaller kibble size was perfect for her, and she gobbled it up immediately!

What sparked my interest was that Taste of the Wild uses real smoked salmon, vegetables, and fruits in their formula – definitely a quality fare for Bella considering her love for fish! At first, I was cautious due to potential allergic reactions (since it’s grain-free), but Bella showed no sign of upset stomach or itchiness. Although the price point is slightly higher than some other foods on the market, I think it’s worth every penny seeing how much Bella loves it.

Remember though if your pooch shows any signs of discomfort or change in behavior, always consult with your vet. It could often be more than just food related! So are there any other finicky eaters out there who have found success with other recipes from Taste of the Wild?
