ParticipantHah, Wag dry dog food huh! Been down that road, my friend. My Rufus is a golden retriever with a king-size appetite and an equally large heart. When I first got him on Wag, he loved the kibble size and gobbled it down in no time. The price point was just right for my budget too.
However, I found that bags weren’t as durable as I’d like. A slight puncture had those little nuggets rolling all over the floor. Ever tried cleaning up dog food from under your furniture? Not a fun way to spend Saturday afternoon.
Don’t get me wrong, Wag is not bad per se. As an alternative though, you might consider Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula. Same price range, but their bags are super sturdy and Rufus seems to love their Chicken and Brown Rice Recipe just as well.
Anyone else switched from Wag to another brand? Would love to hear more experiences!

ParticipantOh boy, I feel you on the Wag dry food journey. I’ve got two lovely border collies: Benny and Lucy. Both are incredibly picky eaters, so finding the right food is always a bit tricky.
Once I switched to Wag, however, both dogs took an immediate liking to it and their coats have honestly never looked better! The packaging is quite durable too. Once opened, it stays fresh for a good while – so you definitely get value for your hard-earned money.
Just a little tip from my experience though: it’s best to introduce any new food gradually to avoid digestive upsets. Start by mixing in small amounts with their current food, increasing the ratio steadily over seven days or so.
How about the other folks here? What was your experience like when transitioning your fur babies to this brand of food?

ParticipantAh, Wag dry dog food… Now there’s a blast from the past. My old Beagle, Max was quite fond of it, but we eventually switched to a different brand. The kibble size was just a bit too large for him. We transitioned to Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula which has smaller bite-sized pieces. Max loved it and seemed easier for him to eat, so mabye worth considering as an alternative? Remember, chowing down should be fun for our fur buddies too! Also, anyone else found wag pieces a lil’ heavy on size or was it just my picky eater Max?

ParticipantOh, the memories with Wag dry dog food! My dear old Jack Russell, Cooper, was on it for a while. Wasn’t half bad and it’s quite a reasonable price too. Cooper liked the taste, although he’s not what I’d call fussy eater, mind you. But from an owner’s perspective, loved the fact that they had grain-free options which seemed to agree more with Coop’s tummy. jsut remember every pup is different and what worked for Cooper might not bode well for other fur kiddos so it’s always a great idea to monitor them early on when introducing new chow. Also, consult your vet if there are any sudden changes in their behavior or health condition. Happy feeding!

ParticipantJust took a trip down memory lane reading y’alls posts about Wag dry dog food. I remember it being a leg-saver for my laborador, Toby. The dang thing wouldn’t eat anything but wag for a solid six months, can you beleive it? he even refused to touch his beloved peanut butter-filled Kong toy if there wasn’t some Wag mixed in. Any of you ever have that with your dogs? Also curious, has anyone tried transitioning their furbabies from Wag to another brand successfully? Thinking it might be high-time Toby expands his culinary horizons—fingers crossed he doesn’t turn his nose up at the newcomer!

ParticipantOh, Wag dry dog food… my Staffy, Bella, used to absolutely gobble it up! The kibble size was perfect for her medium-sized chops and she always seemed to enjoy the taste. Plus, I liked that it didn’t break the bank! Funny story – whenever we’d come home with a new bag, Bella would nudge it around with her nose like she was trying to open it herself. Always gave us a good laugh!
If your pooch has a selective palate or is a bit picky eater, it might be worth giving Wag a try. Of course, always consult your vet before making changes to their diet. To those of you who also had positive experiences with Wag dry dog food – were there particular flavors or varieties your dogs couldn’t get enough of?

ParticipantAh, Wag dry dog food…that takes me back! My Golden Retriever, Sammy, was positively bonkers about it. You’d think he turned into a puppy again at meal times whenever we had this stuff on hand. The small size of the kibble made it easy for him to chew and I personally liked the high protein content listed on the package.
In terms of advice for anyone considering it, I found it’s great introducing your dog to Wag by mixing it with their current food making the transition easier and gentler for their tummy. If you’re on a bit of a budget, keep an eye out for deals online – sometimes you can nab a right bargain!
But, as always, keep an eye on how your dog reacts to new foods. Not all foods work well for all dogs – some may have specific dietary needs or allergies- so if in doubt, better consult your vet!

ParticipantAlternative Perspective: On the fence about Wag dry dog food? I have a pretty unique take. My JRT, Sparky, was honestly indifferent towards it. It’s decent, no doubt, but he wasn’t crazy about it like he usually is with his meals. For the price, it’s definitely worth considering – but just don’t be surprised if your pooch doesn’t react wildly to it. Anyone else’s dog had a ‘meh’ reaction or is Sparky just hard to please?

ParticipantAlright, I’ve got to chime in on this Wag dry dog food discussion. When I first introduced my Boxer, Bandit, to this brand, it was an instant hit. Price-wise it didn’t sting the wallet either which was a nice bonus.
Now here comes the interesting part – after about six months of sticking with Wag dry food, I noticed Bandit wasn’t as eager during meal times. Judging from some other comments around here, it seems there’s a bit of a pattern. Anyone else notice something similar?
Not sure if they changed the formula or tastes just change over time (we all spice up our diet occasionally!) but that was our experience. It’s always good practice to rotate your dog’s diet to keep them interested anyway. Remember to consult with your vet when making major changes to thier diet though.
Would love to hear more on this!

ParticipantGotta chime in on this one guys. I’ve been feeding my Lab, Biscuit, Wag dry dog food for about a year now and I gotta say, the value for money’s realy there. It’s solid in terms of quality and ingredient transparency- no funny business listed on the label.
To introduce it into Biscuit’s diet, I did a slow transition over a couple of weeks to avoid upsetting her tummy (highly recommend doing this if you’re swapping foods). She couldn’t get enough of the stuff! Great size kibbles for her too, not too small or overly large.
Do remember that every dog is different though, so what works wonders for Biscuit might not do the same for your pup. When in doubt about changing diets, always consult with your vet! Hoping this helps someone on the fence about trying Wag out. Anyone else out here have experience with thier senior formulas?

ParticipantI definitely need to throw my hat into this discussion about Wag dry dog food. I have a Sheltie, Sammy, who’s a fairly finicky eater. Initially, she was pretty enthusiastic about Wag food, so I thought we were home free. But as weeks went by, her interest started waning annd she’d occasionally skip meals entirely. Here’s what I learned: having a variety of foods seems important to some dogs. I now mix Wag with another brand (Taste of The Wild is our choice) and Sammy loves it. No medical advice here, just personal observation – always consult with your vet while making significant changes in diet. Curious, anyone else noticed thier dogs ‘boredome eating’ before? How did you manage the situation?

ParticipantI’ll add my two cents here too, as an owner of two energetic Dobermans. They’ve been on Wag dry dog food for over a year now and seem to really enjoy the taste. The size of the kibble is just right for them, and it keeps their coats looking shiny which is a plus. But the best part is that it’s quite affordable compared to other brands without any compromise on nutrition. Just be sure to introduce it slowly into their diet to avoid upsetting their tummies. Always consult a vet if you see any sudden changes in your dogs health after changing his/her food or any other product!

ParticipantI’ve been using Wag dry dog food for my Golden Retriever, Charlie for about a year now too and honestly, he’s been loving it. Great kibble size and appreciates the meaty flavor of their Beef and Lentil recipe! I did notice though that sometimes the packaging can be a tad stiff to open. Has anyone else had this issue or is it just me? Besides that, onto another bag soon, Charlie agrees!
