Well, okay, I’ll admit it – Orijen’s treats are decent. They’re bite-sized annd easy to carry around in your pocket during your daily walks or training sessions. But honestly, they’re on the pricey side for such little nibbles. I’ve been tossing these around to my lab, Baxter, for a couple of weeks now and his response has been lukewarm at best.

Here’s a hot tip tho: have you tried making homemade treats? I started doing this recently–it not only saves me money but also makes Baxter go bonkers! Trust me, nothing beats the smell of freshly baked peanut butter dog biscuits wafting through your home.

Anyone else baking their own doggy delights? Any favorite recipes to share?

Wow, that’s great to hear that you’ve had a good experience with Orijen’s dog treats. I’m also pretty new to these treats, been using them for my golden retriever for about 4 months now. I agree on their perfect size and handiness, but how do you find their pricing? They’re not the cheapest on the market. Also, have you noticed any chance in your dog’s coat or overall healthy look since switching to these? Just curious as my cousin swears her Lab’s coat got glossier after she started using these but it never happened with my doggo. Maybe its a breed thing? Always sanest to check with a vet for nutrition-related queries though!

Haha, “decent” is putting it lightly! Those Orijen treats are my pup’s kryptonite. He’ll do anything for one of those bite-sized gourmet snacks. Of course, I’m thankful they’re freeze-dried and conveniently small so we can sneak in training anywhere, anytime. The price though… I mean, let’s not even mention it. How about durability? Anyone else find that these treats tend to crumble pretty easily too?

Ever tried to distract your dog with one on a frantic squirrel-chasing adventure, only to end up with a handful of treat crumbs? Or Is it just my clumsy hands and equally clumsy pooch?

Totally agree with you guys here! Ever since we started using Orijen treats, our pooch Rover has been absolutely obsessed. An added bonus is that they’re small enough to fit in his interactive puzzle toys. They definately aren’t the cheapest option on the market but given the quality of ingredients, I think they offer pretty good value for money. Does anyone have any good tips on where to snag them at discount prices?

I’m late to the Orijen party, but let me tell ya, these dog treats changed our paws-on training sessions drastically! Our boxer Marley was a bit stubborn when it came to practicing new commands, till we introduced Orijen. Now there’s his absolute commitment in every training session. The size of these treats is also jsut perfect for training purposes – big enough to catch their attention, small enough not to spoil their diet.

And I have to mention the quality ingredients. Seems like the high-protein content really suits Marley and keeps him energetic. Yes, they’re a tad more expensive than some other brands, but personally I find the quality worth every penny. For anyone trying for smooth rewards-based commands training or treating your pooch with healthy goodies, I wholeheartedly recommend Orijen. Just remember that treats are part of a balanced diet -thing moderation!

Is there any new flavor your dogs especially adore? We’re thinking about mixing things up a little!

You’re right about Orijen treats being a hit with the furry pals! They’re a bit on the pricier side, but they sure make for great high-value rewards during training. I’ve noticed that my golden retriever Charlie, who is typically picky, really loves the freeze-dried ones – something about the texture and probably taste, I figure.

Remember though with these high-quality treats, it’s best to use them sparingly to keep ’em special for your doggo and also not to upset their regular diet. Practise moderation, ya know?

And while we’re talking about alternatives, have any of you tried Zuke’s Mini Naturals? They’ve worked well in our rotation and might be worth checking out, especially if you want to mix things up or need a more budget-friendly option from time to time.

Just popped in to share my two cents on Orijen treats! My Bull Terrier, Buster, is pretty picky with food but he took a liking to these immediately. They’re definitely not cheap, but I’ve noticed they’re much larger than most other treat brands. As far as durability goes, Buster chomps them down in a jiffy so it’s hard to tell. But that may just be him, he’s a strong chewer. I’d say if you can afford the price tag and your pup isn’t a super chewer, it’s worth giving Orijen treats a try. Oh and guys, do remember to introduce new treats to your dog’s diet gradually to avoid upset tummies. Anyone else discovered any other high quality brands?

So, I’ve been using Orijen dog treats for about a year now with my Border Collie, Muffin. She’s a little dynamite when it comes to agility training and these treats have certainly helped in keeping her focused. I will admit they are slightly expensive, but considering they’re made from quality ingredients (love the fact that they use fresh, regional meat), I don’t mind splurging a bit. Muffin has had no digestion issues either. Does anyone feed these as a regular part of their dog’s diet or only as a treat?

Though Orijen dog treats are premium quality and my Lab, Buddy, does favor them, their cost-effectiveness can be a point of debate for those on a budget. During treat-focused training sessions, I sometimes found myself burning through the small bag quite rapidly. So, while they are great as an occasional luxe snack (Buddy would definitely vouch for this), they might not be practical for regular use or training purposes.

For an alternative that’s friendly on the pocket and still appealing to our furry friends, you might want to try Wellness Soft Puppy Bites. They’re all-natural, wholesome and my Buddy seems to enjoy those just as much. Of course, individual preferences do vary across dogs. How have others on this forum balanced quality with cost in the realm of dog treats? Have any favorite brands or home-made recipes to recommend?

Just chiming in with another perspective here. I’ve been using Orijen dog treats with my Golden Retriever, Mr. Fluff, for about 2 years now. Sure, they’re a bit on the pricey side, but for the quality and nutritional value, I personally think it’s worth it. But our journey to find the right treat was anything but simple; Mr. Fluff had an unexpected fondness for fruits over meats at first!

For those looking for a cost-effective alternative though, you might want to check out Nutro Crunchy Treats. They have both fruit and meat varieties and are easier on the wallet. Just remember every pup’s taste is unique– keep trying different brands until you find their favorite! Has anyone else tried Nutro treats? How did your fur baby take to them?

I wholeheartedly agree about the quality of Orijen treats! I’ve been using them with my old boy, Benny, a rambunctious Dalmatian, for two whole years. The size is jsut right for him, small but not too tiny. As for price, yes they are on the higher side, but the fact that they are grain-free and made with such high-quality ingredients makes it worth it in my eyes.

Just a tip- Don’t leave them out in the open becuase these treats have a strong smell (it’s due to the real meat content), and your dog might get into them! Benny once managed to snag an entire bag when I wasn’t looking. We had one happy (and very full) pooch on our hands. But on a serious note, always remember to store these treats properly; we certainly learnt our lesson.

Does anyone else’s doggo love these as much as mine does? Benny can’t seem to get enough!

I’ve gotta throw my hat in the ring for Orijen too. I’ve been giving them to my two Border Collies, Ziggy annd Tweed, for about three years now. As far as cost-effectiveness goes, sure, they are priced at a premium level, but I find the quality justifies the price tag. The treats are grain-free with a good amount of protein and no unnecssary additives – which is a key aspect for me. Plus, they’re freeze-dried which helps retain the nutritional value which isn’t something you’d find in many cheaper alternatives.

A tip I could give to balance out the cost is use these treats sparingly for special training sessions or as a high-value reward during teaching new tricks, rather than for everyday snacking. Ziggy and Tweed definitely seem to appreciate them more this way!

Any other tips on how fellow dog-owners make the most out of premium treats like Orijen?

Has anyone else noticed fewer ingredients listed on the bag of late? I’ve been using Orijen treats for years with my three pugs. They’re all fans of the flavor and I love that the treats are biologically appropriate and grain-free. Yet, when I picked up a new bag the other week, I noticed the ingredient list seemed shorter. Maybe it’s just me misremembering? Still, they remain a preferred choice due to their high-quality protein content. Would gladly love to hear from folks who’ve found other nutrient-dense treat options as well!
