Right off the bat, their ingredient list had me squinting. It felt like there were more fillers and by-products than I’d prefer. Yeah, they say it’s balanced and all that jazz, but I was expecting more premium proteins and a bit more transparency in their recipe.
Also, noticed my dog’s coat lost some of its shine after the switch. Nothing drastic but definitely noticeable to a careful observer like me! Switched him back to his old food for a little while whereupon his coat got shinier and seemed healthier overall.
In terms of digestion, seems ok. No major issues that way. But considering how prominent skin & coat health is these days among us pet parents, it’s worth paying a bit more attention to what goes into the feeding bowl.
To sum up my novel here – it’s okay-ish if you’re in a pinch or on a tight budget. Just wished Sportstrail would step up their game a little bit. Fine-tuning their nutrition formula wouldn’t hurt!

Max’s coat has gotten shinier, he has high energy levels throughout the day, and his bowel movements are also very regular now—don’t want to be gross but that’s an important detail for us pet parents 😅. Plus, on the nutritional end of things, it’s got all the protein and essential vitamins our fur babies need.
And guess what? Max used to be a really picky eater but with Sportstrail, mealtime is now his favourite time of the day!! 👏
One con is the price point might be a tad higher than some other brands out there (for good reason), but I can honestly say, you’re getting bang for your buck. Btw, their customer service is top-notch too—they were super helpful when I had queries about various products.
All in all, two thumbs up! 🐾 Hope this helps any fellow canine enthusiasts out there!
