While I can’t disagree with the love for Wellness treats here, I’ve recently had a bit of a question pop up in my thinking. Ever since switching to these treats, my 5-year-old Mastiff has started taking longer to consume them compared to his old ones. Not necessarily a problem – it could just be their size or texture. But, has anyone noticed if their pooch takes more time munching on Wellness? Some dogs do have certain treat preferences, after all – Mick, my elder Terrier from some years back, used to spend ages savouring his chew bones! Just something I’ve been pondering on and wondered about others’ experiences – any thoughts?

You know, while I really enjoy the health benefits Wellness treats offer to dogs—my Bull Terrier Rex just loves them—it does strike me that they’re a bit on the expensive side. We get these little 2–3 oz bags and they evaporate in no time! Has anybody else been having this problem?

So, here’s my trick: I’ve started supplementing them with cheaper options like carrot sticks or sweet potato chunks, which are still healthy but gentler on the wallet. Of course, everything in moderation, though!

Does anyone recommend a particular other brand or DIY pet treat that pairs well with Wellness stuff? For hexample, size-wise or taste-wise? Always keen to expand Rex’s palette and keep things interesting for him!

I totally get why so many of you love Wellness treats. I’ve been buying them for my Golden Retriever, Benny, for quite a while now. Not only does he seem to love the taste, but they’re also a great size for a larger breed like him. Plus, the fact that they are grain-free is a real bonus as Benny has been dealing with sensitive digestion issues throughout his life.

Price-wise, they’re pretty much on par with other high-quality treats we’ve tried over the years. I mean, you do get what you pay for in terms of nutritional content and ingredient quality.

However, I’ll give potential buyers one piece of advice: be mindful of your dog’s chewing habits. Benny is a rather fast eater and sometimes he doesn’t chew these treats as thoroughly as he should; I guess they’re just too tasty!

Besides any specific health concerns which should definitely be discussed with a vet, has anyone else found this to be an issue? Could there be alternative treat choices suitable for fast eaters? Might help us slow-chewer pet parents out there!

While I totally appreciate the affection for Wellness treats, I’ve recently decided to give my dog, Bruno, a trial run with Blue Buffalo’s Wilderness Trail Treats. Don’t get me wrong, Wellness’s size and ingredients always hit the spot but I noticed Bruno was getting a tad bored. With Blue Buffalo I found the texture is a bit different – more in line with real jerky which Bruno seems to really enjoy. Plus they’re grain free, so if your pup has sensitivities like mine does it could be an alternative worth considering. The price point is pretty similar too. Anyone else had experiences to share about switching treats?
