ParticipantTotally agree with your review. In my 15 years of dog-ownership, I too have seen how much the pups love their Milk-Bones. Just last week, when my Retriever mix, Bonnie, saw me reaching for the box, her tail went wild! For their price and size variety, you really can’t beat these treats. But I’ve noticed that they can get a bit crumbly if not stored properly. Has anyone else experienced this? And any tips for better storage to keep them fresh longer?

ParticipantI’m glad to hear that your pup loves Milk-Bone treats! I got a small breed beagle last year and he’s the fussiest little guy when it comes to treats. I tried with Milk-Bone initially but he just played around with it, leaving it untouched. Then we discovered Blue Buffalo Mini Bars, and they were an instant hit! They are smaller in size and easier for him to chew which might be a reason why he took to them instantly.
Just like Milk-Bones, these too don’t make any health-related claims but my fur baby sure seems to love them. So if any dog owner out there is struggling with picky eaters, do give Blue Buffalo Mini Bars a shot – their apple and yogurt flavor is the top choice at my home! Has anyone else also had success with adopting these as an alternative to Milk-Bones? Would love to hear about your experience.

ParticipantHaha, you’ve hit the nail on the head! I have a decade old Labrador who would happily trade me in for a Milk-Bone treat. For her size, it’s the perfect snacking reward after training drills – easy to ingest and they do last long, surprisingly! Just curious, anyone noticed any major change in their dog’s weight after multiple servings? We’ve been sticking to the recommended dosage yet she seems to be piling on some pounds. Off to the vet to get her checked tomorrow – possibly unrelated, but definitely worth a vet consultation to rule things out. It’s got me wondering if these treats are as low-fat as they promise!

ParticipantI’ve also had positive experiences with Milk-Bone treats, especially when it comes to training. My Golden Retriever, Max, couldn’t resist these crunchy morsels – perfect for reinforcing behaviors in a variety of situations. The different sizes available was a plus point for me. I found the mini versions particularly useful for quick rewards during agility drills.
But I noticed that they can get a bit crumbly if not stored properly. How do you guys store your Milk-Bone treats to maintain their freshness and integrity? I’d love to hear any tips or hacks!

ParticipantAbsolutely, couldn’t agree more! Milk-Bone has been a real winner in my house as well. I have a chunky Bulldog named Bruno and let me tell you, he’s absolutely smitten with these treats. It’s the crunch, I reckon. But, have you guys tried the Milk-Bone Soft & Chewy treats? They’re a bit pricier but Bruno loves them just as much, if not more! And they’re great for dogs who might struggle with hard treats. Worth checking out if your pup is already a Milk-Bone fan.

ParticipantI’m glad to hear so many positive comments about Milk-Bone dog treats. I’ve been using them for training my cocker spaniel, and he goes mad over them! While I appreciate that they are affordable and durable enough to keep in my pocket during walks without crumbling apart, I’ve found that the size is a bit large for smaller breeds. Anyone else notice this? Maybe we could suggest to Milk-Bone to make them in petite sizes too, especially for those of us who love using them as training aids.
On a sidde note, have you guys tried the MaroSnacks variety from Milk-Bone? They’re a hit at our house!

ParticipantYou know, I’ve recently switched over to using Zuke’s Mini Naturals Training Treats for my Yorkie, Toby. The size of the Milk-Bone treats was a bit too large for him and he seemed to struggle a bit munching on them. However, with Zuke’s, I noticed that the bite-sized pieces were just perfect for Toby’s small mouth – plus, they have a variety of flavors which are great for keeping him interested! Funny story – Toby has now started ‘dancing’ every time I take out the Zuke’s bag indicating that he really loves them. Isn’t it amazing how our pups will let us know what works best for them? Nonetheless, if you’ve got a smaller breed like mine, you might want to give Zuke’s a shot! Anyone else have similar “picky eater” experiences?

ParticipantWell, my Siberian Husky, Apollo, could probably single-pawedly keep Milk-Bone in business! He goes absolutely bonkers for these treats. I’d say the size is pretty spot on even for a larger breed like him. But I’ve found that they are a bit hard compared to some others we’ve tried, like Zuke’s Mini Naturals or Blue Buffalo’s treats.
The price tag on Milk-Bone is definitely appealing though, especially if you’re going through as many as we do in our house. I reckon it really comes down to personal preference (and your dog’s teeth). But if any of you are considering switching over to something with a softer consistency for training purposes, Zuke’s might just be worth a try!
Now I’m curious though – anyone else found Milk-Bone to be a bit tougher than other dog treats, or is it just Apollo being picky?

ParticipantWhile Milk-Bones seem to be a big hit with many of our furry friends, I’ve found a great alternative in “Old Mother Hubbard Classic Crunchy Natural Dog Treats.” Given they are all-natural and oven-baked, my Dogo Argentino, Dasher absolutely can’t resist them! Plus, they’re small enough not to disrupt his meals but satisfying enough as an occasional treat. definately check them out if you’re on the hunt for an alternative! Has anyone else tried these or have other natural treats to recommend?

ParticipantI’m right there with you! My two Basset Hounds are serious Milk-Bone aficionados. I swear, that telltale crinkle sound of the box can wake them from the deepest of slumbers. And what I genuinely appreciate about Milk-Bone is the variety in sizes. It makes training our Samoyed pup a lot easier since he’s got a larger mouth than our hounds.
The price is also pretty competitive. I’ve looked into many alternatives, and most didn’t offer the same bang for your buck. But always bear in mind that treats ought to be used sparingly – they’re okay as occasional rewards or motivators, but they shouldn’t form a large part of your pup’s diet.
Wondering if anyone else has seen specific behavioral changes when they switch from one treat brand to another? Has it affected your training routines at all?

ParticipantSo, it’s a well-known fact in my household that my Corgi, Toffee, is completely head over tail for Milk-Bones! I find the variety of sizes super convenient. The minis work great for training exercises while the larger bones are perfect for her to munch on during down times. However, I have noticed that excessive crumbs can be an issue with these treats. Has anyone found a solution to this or should I just come to terms with having to do extra clean ups after treat-time? And what about the price point, is it pretty consistent across various stores? We always pick ours up from the local grocery shop.

Participantthere! I share in the Milk-Bone love – my old Retriever, Sam, would never refuse one as a special treat. But did anyone else notice their furbabies gaining a little weight after introducing these treats regularly into the diet? I guess they’re just too tasty to resist and our canine friends show no restraint! So my advice would be to keep a keen eye on your pet’s weight and use these rewards in moderation. Especially for those of us with breeds prone to obesity, balance is key when it comes to treats! It might even be worth consulting your vet about how many you should give your pup if you’re unsure.

ParticipantAbsolutely echoing the Milk-Bone praise here too! My rough-and-tumble Boxer, Rocky, is a big fan of these treats. I got him as a rescue and it was tough to fin something he’d actually be intersted in. Anytime he hears that telltale clinking sound of the Milk-Bones in thier box, boy does he come barreling down the hallway ready for one!
The size is also perfect for his big ol’ jaw – not too small that he’d swallow whole, but not overly large either. Truely an all-rounder treat. Anyone else have success using these for training rewards? My Rocky doesn’t have all his commands down pat jsut yet!
Remember, while we all love spoiling our furry friends with treats, balance is key! Always monitor your dog’s diet and consult your vet if you are uncertain about any major changes to their food/treat consumption.

ParticipantI’ve also had positive experiences with Milk-Bone, specifically due to thier subtle, non-overpowering scent and the various size options they come in. Although, I’d like to chime in and offer an alternative – EverTry treats. My 3-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, Daisy, is quite picky but she’s particularly obsessed with these. The sole ingredient in EverTry treats is freeze-dried beef which is a plus for me as well because it means it’s grain-free and has no added little surprises. On the durability factor, though, they’re not hard enough if you’re looking for a chewy treat that would last a while. Anyone else tried EverTry treats for their pups? Would love to compare notes!

ParticipantInteresting to hear about everyone’s experiences with Milk-Bone treats. I’ve been giving them to my border collie, Shep, for about a year now. He’s pretty selective with what he eats (quite the treat connoisseur, if you will), but he really seems to enjoy these! One thing I’ve noticed is that the biscuits are bit on the larger side for him – do they come in different sizes? Also, anyone found an effective way of breaking them into smaller pieces without making a mess? All the tiny crumbs drive me nuts!
