Now I’ve seen some posts here suggesting coating the chewable parts with a bitter spray as a deterrent and I wonder, did anyone find this method effective overall? Just want to make sure I’m not dousing various pieces of furniture in bitter spray for nothing haha!

Been using a Kuranda dog bed for my old lab Molly for about 2 years now and she loves it. The raised platform is perfect for her hips and I can really see how more comfortable she is. Can be a bit tough to put together at first, but the durability stands up to her scratches and chewing. 100% recommend it if u got a big, old pup like mine.

Anybody have trouble with their dogs not liking the bed initially? Molls was a lil hesitant at first too, any tips to help ease ’em into it?

Totallly agree with you on the Kuranda dog bed. I got one for my golden retriever Cooper about a year ago and he’s been loving it too. It stays super clean compared to traditional beds which is a huge plus for me (least I don’t need to worry about washing it anymore, lol).

But my advice to other owners would be definitely getting the heavy-duty model if your pooch is a bit of the chew-happy variety. Cooper did manage to gnaw down his first bed in no time despite their ‘chewproof’ claim.

Has anyone tried using additional covers or pads on these beds? Wondering if they zip off easy for washing, or am I better off simply wiping them down?

Just chiming in to share my two cents about Kuranda beds. I’ve had one for my bouncy boxer, Bruno, for a year now and it’s still as sturdy as the first day. These beds are seriously tough stuff – they survive his crazy zoomies just fine! 😂 Plus him being raised off the ground seems to keep him cool in summer, which he totally appreciates.

Did anyone try using their own covers on these beds? Bruno has a soft spot for comfy blankets so I was thinkin’ of adding an extra layer of coziness…🤔 Any advices guys? Cheers!

Noticed a couple of you said your beds are wobbly? I had the same issue but found tightening the screws every now and then solved the problem pretty quick. Might be worth giving a try?

To u/BoxerBruno’s owner, totally agree with how durable they are. My rambunctious retriever Bailey is a real chewer but he’s yet to make a dent in it!

On another note though, has anyone tried the Coolaroo elevated pet bed as an alternative? Hear they’re pretty solid too and might work better for those on a budget… Thoughts?

annd as for the wobbliness, yep had that problem too at first. Woulda thought Daisy was trying to do staircase slalom with all the sliding around! Turns out I had kinda bungled the assembly (not an IKEA mastermind), but after another go, it was rock solid. So my advice? If yours is a bit on the wobbly side, give the instructions another glance. Might just save your wood floors from getting scuffed!

Anyway, still curious if anyone’s tried their other products, cuz this one’s pretty neat so far. To those on the fence: you got my thumbs up!

Did any of you notice if the bed became more stable after use? Mine seemed to balance out more after Bella used it for a few weeks and evened out the wear and tear. Yea? No?

And speaking of tightning screws, a dab of threadlocker (blue kind) before screwing them in did wonders for me. They’ve stayed put unlike before. Anybody else try this trick?

The thing is, these beds aren’t like your standard ones right? They have an elevated design which inherently might seem a bit wobbly at first. But I reckon this stability issue gets worked out as our furry pals learn to hop on and off. My two cents? Give it some time, keep those screws snug and you should be golden.

Anyone else found any quirkeys with the fabric option they picked? My german Shepard seems to believe its a giant chew toy unfortunately.. LOL.

Since they’re elevated beds, I was wondering if any of you have experienced your dog hesitating to climb onto it? Like, my Archie moves around it somewhat dubiously – could be because he’s not used to the elevation yet? Did any of ypur pups experience this and did they eventually get over their initial fear?

Also, totally agreed on the non-standard bed part. I think it gives them a sense of their exclusive space, right? Plus it’s super easy to clean! Biggest win for me lol.

Now onto these ‘elevated’ design concerns—I swear Bruno, my hunky German Shepherd, looked at the thing like it’s some alien tech straight from Area 51. Him getting onto the bed did require a tad bit coaxing, nothing three days of treats couldn’t fix tho. 😜 Trust me, once your furry freind realises how comfy it is—especially during sultry summer months—they ain’t leaving that place. Now if we could only train them to fetch their own treats! Ah well… 🙄

For any newbies considering this type of bed—don’t let the ‘elevated’ design put you off. It’s surprisingly beneficial as it keeps dogs off cold floors and helps with air circulation. If your fur buddy is hesitant at first, mabye add their favorite blanket to make it look inviting.

But hey, while Kuranda beds rock, they aren’t the only decent ones out there for pups who prefer not to snooze on the ground (anyone else got a primadonna for a pooch?). The Coolaroo elevated pet bed is another great option that won’t drill too much of a hole in your wallet if you’re tight on budget. It’s pretty sturdy and just as easy to clean as the Kuranda.

Hope that helps guys ‘n gals! Baxter sends his woofs 🐾
