MemberJust wanted to chime in on the Tuft and Needle dog bed discussion. We’d been through many a bed here, before we got Max his Tuft and Needle one about a year ago. He’s a bony old labrador, always had trouble settling in for his naps due to discomfort.
I can’t tell you how much of a difference this bed has made! It’s got the right amount of firmness, y’know, doesn’t just collapse under him like some of the fluffier beds do. Seen significant improvement in how comfortably and long he sleeps now. Plus… total bonus… it’s crazy easy to clean up!
Anyone else find the cleaning process this simple? Or am I just really bad with other beds? 😂 Anyway, highly recommend this bad boy to anyone with dogs dealing with joint or comfort issues.
P.S. @GoldenDaneLover44 – have you tried removing the cover and washing it separately like the instructions say? Makes it so much less daunting.

MemberDid anyone else have any experience with their dogs preferring this over others?
My tip for those considering buying it: keep an eye out for discounts – sometimes they run promotions n stuff. Is there any other bed you folks think comes close in terms of durability?11/25/2024 at 11:19 PM #4308FuzzyRetriever2040
MemberThe bed is durable even with my Lab’s monster digging rituals before bedtime annd so far I’m impressed how it stands up to his repeat ‘excavations’, haha! Plus, it doesn’t have that off-putting chemical smell some new dog beds come with which was a relief. My golden especially loves it cause of its foam, makes his arthiritis way more manageable.
In terms of cost effectiveness compared to other high-end dog beds -> Well worth it. So if you’re on the fence about buying one, jsut go for it imho.
I’d love to hear form others – Has anyone tried placing heating mats under theirs for added warmth during winter months? How did your dogs react? Did they enjoy the extra coziness or was it too much?

MemberAlso gotta agree with whoever mentioned the durability above. My Shep has a habit of tearing up whatever he can sink his teeth into, but he hasn’t been able to make a dent in this bed. Guess all that digging before bedtime doesn’t do much harm! Only minor downside has been that it took him a bit longer to get used to this bed compared to other ones we’ve tried. But once he did – boom!– There’s no going back, haha.
Has anyone found anything similar but at a cheaper price point though? Love everything about the Tuft and Needle but wouldn’t mind saving a few bucks if I can find something equivalent.

MemberHave you guys tried the Kong Chew Resistant Dog Bed? A little pricier but Sunny hasn’t made a dent in this one so far and trust me she’s given it a good go! Any other chew-proof suggestions from you seasoned dog owners out there?

MemberHaven’t tried Kong Chew Resistant yet, any experiences on how comfy they are? Just curious as Oscar seems happy now, but always good to have future options.

MemberComparing it to the Kong Chew Resistant that was mentioned earlier…well there’s definitely differing advantages Gus was always making mince meat out of his beds, but surprisingly he hasn’t made a dent in his Tuft and Needle – maybe its just too comfy to destroy?
Anyone else noticed their heavy-chewers give this bed a pass for destruction? Why do yer pups think of the tuft and needle compred to other bed brands?

MemberI’m curious about the Kong Chew Resistant bed mentioned earlier tho. How does it stand uo against some serious chewing? Bruno can be pretty relentless when he gets one of his “chewing moods”.
Also wondering on the comfort level…Bruno’s 7 now and getting slight arthritis, so a comfy bed is crucial for us. Is it worth swapping our current setup?

MemberThe Kong Chew Resistant is definitely durable and stands up to some serious gnawing (trust me, George has gone through his fair share of beds), but I feel it doesn’t match up on the comfort level compared to Tuft and Needle’s.
I’d say if your Oscar is a vigorous chewer, maybe the Kong might stand up better over time compared to Tuft & Needle. But for a good balance between coziness and durability, T&N hit the nail right on the head (at least in George’s case). Don’t know about others but so far no signs of wear or tear here!
Hope that helps somewhat? Anyone else with more experience on Tuft & Needle vs Kong?

MemberBeen using the Tuft and Needle dog bed for my golden retriever Sammy for about 6 months now. Definitely a thumbs up! It’s super comfy (Sammy seems to love loafing around on it), durable and easy to clean – a lifesaver when you have a shedder!
I’ve never tried the Kong Chew Resistant but considering Sammy is more of a sleeper than a chewer, the comfort factor with Tuft was more important for us. That said, anyone got some thoughts on how these beds fare overtime? Do they stand up well to multiple washes? Cheers!

MemberRecently I tried spraying some calming substances you can find at pet stores on the new bed, and well… let’s just say that was the first night she slept fully settled in her new Tuft bed. So, for those whose pups are resistin’ like mine did, maybe give this little trick a try? And for all you seasoned pup parents out there – any more tips to help Roxy love her new bed even more?

MemberI see that some of you are using calming spray on the beds — we tried that too, but turns out ol’ Rocky isn’t really into those scents. Instead, what worked for us was mixing up routines: taking him for a longer walk just before introducing the new bed, getting him all good and tired…and maybe throwing in a few biscuits didn’t hurt! 😉
Anyone else had success with this method? Or any other tricks you used to get your doggie settled into their new TUft & Needle throne?
