MemberI’ve been using The Honest Kitchen dog food for my golden retriever for about a year and a half now. We started with the grain-free chicken recipe and now we mix it up – sometimes fish, sometimes beef.
I was skeptical about the whole dehydrated food thing at first, but I like that it’s all natural ingredients and no weird fillers. Plus, my boy LOVES it. His coat is shinier than ever and he seems pretty energized since the switch.
One whimsy thing is that it’s a bit pricier than kibble, but with visible improvement in my pup’s health, it’s worth the extra bucks to me. And you know what they say about an ounce of prevention… So overall, big thumbs up from us for The Honest Kitchen. Hope this helps anyone on the fence about trying it!

MemberI started feeding my Golden Retriever this magic food about 6 months ago. He initially looked at his bowl as if I’d served him yesterday’s leftovers. Seems his palate took a couple of meals to adjust to the artisanal platter!
Fast forward to now and he seems happier and peppier. His coat is shining as if he’s starring in some high-budget dog shampoo ad. But hey, correlation isn’t causation right? Might be just a coincidence *chuckles*. Or maybe he’s really thriving on this posh nosh.
Biggest downside I’ve found? It’s not exactly budget-friendly. Feels like I’m buying my dog lunch from Whole Foods every day! But then again, he hasn’t turned his nose up at a meal since we switched. So maybe I’m the one getting used to it.
But hey – whatever floats your doggo’s boat (and doesn’t empty your wallet), right? No one food fits all.

MemberFirst off, the dehydrated formula may be a bit tough for some dogs to handle, especially those with sensitive tummies – lesson learned the hard way when my Golden started having irregular bowel movements. Don’t get me started on the price point either – paying premium only makes sense if your pups are keen on it.
On another note, while they promote being “human-grade”, both Fido and Spot left half their meals uneaten. Considering these two would eat my shoe if given the chance…it was certainly a red flag. Granted every dog is unique and what doesn’t fly with mine might work out great for yours.
Just thought I’d throw in my two cents from a practical perspective! Anyone else have similar or differing takes? Would love to hear other experiences!

MemberSo I tried The Honest Kitchen dog food, you know – the one that’s basically dehydrated home-cooked meals for dogs? My pups actually seemed to enjoy it. They devoured it as if it was prime rib on a Friday night!
But let’s talk ingredients, shall we? Simply top-notch, I must say. Free-range chicken, veggies, and no preservatives. Almost sounds like a meal fit for a human. But there is an unpleasant smell, which isn’t surprising considering we are talking about dog food after all.
Price-wise? Well, let me put it this way – make sure your pockets are deep! You might have to sell your second car or choose between feeding yourself or the pup (I’m kidding…or am I?)
So will anyone be rolling out the red carpet for The Honest Kitchen dog food at my house again soon? Perhaps. Just waiting for that stimulus check to land!
Just remember folks – what works for my Rover may not work for yours. Every pup is different!

MemberI opt for the grain-free turkey recipe – smells terrible but trust me, dogs go bonkers for it. Yes, it’s a bit pricier but seeing my pooches happier, healthier and energetic is well worth it in my book.
Just a tip if anyone’s thinking of switching: do it gradually. Introduce the new food progressively into their old meal to avoid any sudden digestive upsets. Good luck to you and your furry friends!

MemberI’ve been using The Honest Kitchen food for my Golden Retriever, Max, for about 6 months now and honestly, we’re big fans. Before, he was on a well-known brand diet but had occasional digestive issues. But since switching to Honest Kitchen’s dehydrated formula – it’s like night and day. His digestion has improved tenfold.
And another thing, Max absolutely loves the taste. I usually mix it with warm water as suggested, and let me tell you, he wolfs it down within seconds (which never happened before). The quality of ingredients looks impressive too – free-range chicken, organic grains, fruits, veggies – it all sounds very wholesome.
Yes, it is a little more expensive than the regular kibble I used before but in terms of Max’s health and happiness, I reckon it’s worth every penny. You really get what you pay for quality-wise.
The only minor gripe might be the prep time involved compared to normal dry food. It’s not quite as convenient because you need to rehydrate it with water but once you get into the swing of things, it’s no biggie.
Hope this helps anyone considering the switch! Happy feeding! 🐾😊

MemberI started noticing noticeable improvements in Max’s energy levels and his coat just got unbelievably smooth and shiny. One major pro is that it features natural ingredients without any by-products or artificial additives; so I’m happy knowing Max gets to munch on the good stuff.
The only downside would be the price point – it’s kinda on the higher side. But hey, whether you go for quality pet food right away or spend on vet bills later, it may just balance out, right? Anyway, I personally feel Max’s health and well-being are worth those extra bucks.
Hope this helps in your decision-making process! All the best for you and your fur baby!

MemberPlus, his coat has never looked better! We use the Grain-Free Turkey Recipe and it’s been amazing for him. And if you’re like me who worries about recalls and all that jazz, you’ll be glad to know these guys have a realy impressive track record when it comes to safety.
So yeah! Thurman (that’s my pup) and I are big fans of The Honest Kitchen. Food with integrity gets two paws up from us – definitely recommend giving them a try! Cheers mate!

MemberFlavor varieties? They’ve got’em! Recipes like chicken, beef or even fish – my furry boy enjoyed the fish one quite a lot, although it’s not his all-time fav. You know what they say: variety is the spice of life, and apparently, pups think so too!
Now onto nutrition – these guys don’t skimp on health benefits. The protein content is high quality and there wasn’t anything on the ingredient list that made my eyebrow lift or made Google work overtime.
One crucial thing to remember is that it’s dehydrated food which needs rehydrating before serving – quite a change in feeding routine if you’re used to just scooping out dry kibble. Wasn’t a downside for me though – almost felt like I was cooking for Marley and honestly? He gobbled down everything in no time.
But here comes the little snag we hit: price tag is heavier than your average dog food brands. But hey, premium quality often means a premium price right? And that’s basically what you’re paying for – better ingredients with no nasties hanging around.
All in all, Marley and I didn’t regret our Honest Kitchen experience even with its higher cost. Perhaps give it a go and see how your pooch reacts? Remember every dog is unique, just like us. Good luck!
