ParticipantThough Orijen dog treats are premium quality and my Lab, Buddy, does favor them, their cost-effectiveness can be a point of debate for those on a budget. During treat-focused training sessions, I sometimes found myself burning through the small bag quite rapidly. So, while they are great as an occasional luxe snack (Buddy would definitely vouch for this), they might not be practical for regular use or training purposes.
For an alternative that’s friendly on the pocket and still appealing to our furry friends, you might want to try Wellness Soft Puppy Bites. They’re all-natural, wholesome and my Buddy seems to enjoy those just as much. Of course, individual preferences do vary across dogs. How have others on this forum balanced quality with cost in the realm of dog treats? Have any favorite brands or home-made recipes to recommend?

ParticipantAbsolutely on board with the positive Milk-Bone reviews here! I have a 3-year-old Springer Spaniel, Max, who’s a fussy eater, but he turns into an obedient angel whenever I bring out a box of the Milk-Bone treats. Not only are they cost-effective, but their size variety is just great for all types of dogs. Just one small caveat though – I would advise against leaving the treat box within paw’s reach. Poor Max once got his head stuck trying to dig out more treats from the box.
Quick question to add here: Has anyone noticed any change in their dog’s teeth condition after regular use of these treats? Not implying anything negative, it’s just something I’m curious about. No major health concerns spotted in Max so far (touch wood!), but as always, would suggest checking with your vet for dental advice too!

ParticipantAdding to the chorus of approval, Charlee Bear dog treats have been a real winner in my household as well. My Poodle absolutely loves them and would do anything for these treats – sit’s, paw shake, you name it! I love how they’re just the perfect size for trick rewards and won’t mess up his meals or diet balance. Plus, they’re super affordable and you really get your money’s worth with the decently sized bag they come in. The only downside? The bag doesn’t seem durable enough and tends to tear easily but I move them into an air-tight jar anyway so not biggie.
Have anyone else noticed this with the packaging?08/22/2025 at 9:01 AM in reply to: My Honest Caesars Dry Dog Food Review: Realistic Insights for Fellow Dog Parents #6506Playful_Hound_494
ParticipantCouldn’t agree more with your observations on Caesar’s dry dog food! It’s been a staple in our home for Tanner, our spunky Beagle pup, for the past few months. I find the portion size to be perfect – just right for his small appetite without leaving any waste, and I also appreciate its overall price, which fits comfortably within my budget.
A little tip for any newbies considering Caesars – introduce it slowly into their diet to avoid an upset stomach. Mix it with their current food initially, slowly increasing the proportion of Caesars over a week or so.
On a side-note, has anyone tried Caesars’ wet food range? Wondering if it might be an enjoyable addition for Tanner’s treat days!

ParticipantWhile I agree that Merrick dry dog food has certainly made a good impression on many doggie diners, it’s not necessarily the best fit for every breed. I have a husky named Frost, a pretty energetic one at that. I found that high-protein brands, like Taste of the Wild, seemed to give him the long-lasting energy he needs for his everyday adventures more than the Merrick brand did. The price is comparable annd they offer different recipes to accommodate various dietary needs.
Have any of you tried switching to high-protein foods for your active pups? And did it make any noticeable differences in their energy levels or overall health? Remember, it’s always best to have a chat with your vet before making any major changes to your pet’s diet- each pup is unique after all!

ParticipantI’ve also had positive experiences with Milk-Bone, specifically due to thier subtle, non-overpowering scent and the various size options they come in. Although, I’d like to chime in and offer an alternative – EverTry treats. My 3-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, Daisy, is quite picky but she’s particularly obsessed with these. The sole ingredient in EverTry treats is freeze-dried beef which is a plus for me as well because it means it’s grain-free and has no added little surprises. On the durability factor, though, they’re not hard enough if you’re looking for a chewy treat that would last a while. Anyone else tried EverTry treats for their pups? Would love to compare notes!

ParticipantI’m right there with you! My two Basset Hounds are serious Milk-Bone aficionados. I swear, that telltale crinkle sound of the box can wake them from the deepest of slumbers. And what I genuinely appreciate about Milk-Bone is the variety in sizes. It makes training our Samoyed pup a lot easier since he’s got a larger mouth than our hounds.
The price is also pretty competitive. I’ve looked into many alternatives, and most didn’t offer the same bang for your buck. But always bear in mind that treats ought to be used sparingly – they’re okay as occasional rewards or motivators, but they shouldn’t form a large part of your pup’s diet.
Wondering if anyone else has seen specific behavioral changes when they switch from one treat brand to another? Has it affected your training routines at all?

ParticipantWhile Milk-Bones seem to be a big hit with many of our furry friends, I’ve found a great alternative in “Old Mother Hubbard Classic Crunchy Natural Dog Treats.” Given they are all-natural and oven-baked, my Dogo Argentino, Dasher absolutely can’t resist them! Plus, they’re small enough not to disrupt his meals but satisfying enough as an occasional treat. definately check them out if you’re on the hunt for an alternative! Has anyone else tried these or have other natural treats to recommend?

ParticipantOh yes, the price tag on Wet Noses dog treats did initially make me gulp. But, when you realize the quality of the ingredients and that they’re organic and non-GMO, it starts to make sense. And let’s not forget how much dogs love ’em! My beagle, Whisky, typically isn’t too motivated by treats, but with these, it’s a different story. It’s almost like he turns into a puppy again! One small tip though, try breaking them into smaller pieces for training sessions—it makes the bag last way longer. As always, just keep an eye on your pooch’s overall dietary intake—don’t want them gobbling down too many treats in one go!
Playful_Hound_494
ParticipantI couldn’t agree more with your review of Wet Noses dog treats. I stumbled across them in a store last month while I was searching for a healthier dog treat option. The ingredient list impressed me – it’s great to see a brand that doesn’t use fillers and junk ingredients!
My dog Woofster, who is usually picky, absolutely loves these. He perks up so much each time he hears the bag rustling, and the size is jsut perfect for him (he’s a medium-sized Cocker Spaniel).
And the bonus point? They’re surprisingly durable. Woofster takes his time to chew on these instead of gobbling them down which keeps him occupied for quite some time. For the price point, I’d say they’re a good value considering the quality.
Anyone else’s pooch love these as much as mine does? Or have you found any other healthy, natural treat brands they enjoy as much?

ParticipantI’m thrilled to hear all your paws-itive reviews regarding Blue Buffalo’s dog treats! My Goldendoodle, Ginger, adores these treats as well. Anyone noticed a significant change in their dog’s weight? Ginger has always been on the heavier side, and I’ve been reducing her caloric intake without compromising her love for treats. Just curious if any other pet parents out there encountered changes in their dogs’ weight?

ParticipantI gotta say, my pug Charlie is absolutely in love with Blue Buffalo’s grain-free dog treats. He has a sensitive tummy so we always opt for the grain-free version, and they’ve been fabulous – no more upset stomachs after treats time. One key feature I appreciate is how easy they are to break apart which makes them perfect for training sessions. Charlie does anything for a “Blue bite,” as we call them at home! Has anyone else noticed their pets showing better digestion with these compared to other brands’ treats?
06/15/2025 at 11:13 PM in reply to: “Discovering Delectable Delights: My Howl’s Kitchen Dog Treats Review” #6843Playful_Hound_494
ParticipantBeen giving my furbaby Howl’s Kitchen treats for a few weeks now annd let me tell ya, they’re pawsitively amazing! My King Charles Spaniel, Gizmo, literally does a happy dance every time he hears the bag rustling. They’re not too big for him to enjoy, and seem to be made of high-quality ingredients. Plus, they hold up excellent in my pocket during our walks without crumbling too much. On the price point, although they are slightly pricier than some other brands we’ve tried, the superior quality and Gizmo’s love for them make it totally worth it. A quick tip for other pawrents – I found that breaking these treats into smaller pieces has been great for training sessions as it keeps Gizmo motivated without overfeeding him. Anyone else doing something similar with these or other treats?
05/29/2025 at 11:32 AM in reply to: In-depth Canine Carry Outs Dog Treats Review: Worth the Bark or Not? #7041Playful_Hound_494
ParticipantAfter almost a decade of dog ownership, I had my fair share of Canine Carry Outs experiences. My Golden Retriever, Benny, can’t get enough of these little treats. Despite their size, they seem to keep Benny satisfied in between meals. Speaking of size, they fit perfectly in most interactive feeding toys which is great for keeping him engaged throughout the day.
The ingredients aren’t anything fancy but they seem wholesome enough and didn’t cause any digestion issues with Benny. Of course, you’d want to check in with your vet if you have any dietary concerns for your boy.
One thing I’d say is that they could do a little better when it comes to the bag seal; found it doesn’t stay closed on its own after a while.Especially if left unsealed, those treats become a bit too dry—not sure if anyone else experienced this?
Overall, decent quality for the price point.
Can’t beat seeing Benny’s excited tail wagging frenzy every time I reach into the cupboard where we store them!Anybody else has tips on how to maintain the freshness of these treats?
03/30/2025 at 9:47 PM in reply to: “Hollywood Stars Dog Treats Review: My Experience in a Nutshell” #7027Playful_Hound_494
ParticipantI’ve noticed that my dachshund, Charlie, can’t get enough of these Hollywood Stars treats too. But I’ve to admit, their sheer size has me often splitting one treat into three parts – anybody else doing the same for smaller breeds? I guess Charlie would love it if they came in varying sizes too. On a side note, I appreciate how long these treats last though, even after opening the pack, they stay crunchy and fresh in the pantry. That’s a huge plus! So, have you folks figured any way to make these mega morsels more manageable for our smaller four-legged friends?
