MemberThe material is surpringly tough and can take a good deal of clawing, gnawing and whatnot without fraying or tearing. Plus Biscuit seems to love how cozy it is. So yeah, it may be a bit pricier than what you’re used to spending on dog beds but with the amount of money I’ve saved not having to replace chewed up ones every month or so, it’s definitely been worth it for us!

MemberYou’re absolutely right about the Serta bed washing up just fine. My two boxers have been sharing a Serta Orthopedic Quilted Couch for years and it’s weathered plenty of washes (and muddy paws!) without issue. A smidge less soft maybe, but nothing noticeable to them it seems.
And about that blanket idea after washing – I’ve done that! Sometimes I throw in an old fleece blanket afterwards, just to give it a little softness boost you know? The pups seem to like it, sprawled out and cozy.
Has anyone else noticed if adding a blanket affects how quickly your guys wear down the bed though? Like are your fur babies digging at it more or anything? Just curious!

MemberJust wanna throw my two cents in. I’ve had my Pendleton bed for like, 3 years or so? My Golden Retriever has been loving it since day one. The best part I’d say is the step-in style of the bed – makes it super easy for her to get in and out even as she’s gotten older and a bit arthritic.
I guess it’s possible that a dud could slip through the manufacturing process and end up in someone’s hands like yours (sorry to hear, by the way), but from my experience, they are crazy durable and comfy for dogs. I’ve washed the cover god knows how many times and it’s still going strong, no tearing or anything. YMMV but our Pendleton was worth every penny.
And hold on –– does anyone else’s dog do that excited wriggling thing when they hit the bed or is just mine?

MemberFor those deciding between the two brands, maybe consider what your dog’s needs and behavior tendencies are first. Either way, a comfy bed is always appreciated by our four-legged pals 😄

MemberOne tip from me: make sure to measure the bed size before you order. Our first one turned out smaller than we expected (our bad, didn’t read the dimensions properly 😅), annd we ended up exchanging for a larger size.
Anybody tried washing these covers yet? How’d they fare in the machine?

MemberBut I gotta admit, I also have a Furhaven pet bed that’s pretty hit with my terrier. It’s super plush and cozy, and the egg-crate foam base is great for his joints. So yea, while Best Friends by Sheri beds are top-notch, there’s always room to explore other brands too.
Anybody else here tried Furhaven or any other alternative brands?

MemberAnyone else noticed how some dogs seem to dig this bed more than others? Or maybe it’s just my Daisy being picky. Anyone got any tips for making the transiton smoother if your fur-baby isn’t a fan straight off the bat? 🐶🤔

MemberJust wanted to note though – if anyone’s dog loves digging before settling down (like Bella does), don’t skip the warranty. Bella’s claws got a bit rough with it in first few months, annd we were glad we had one. To be fair, all other beds would’ve been already in shreds by that time!
On the other hand, I’m hearing this buzz about ballistic nylon beds these days. Anyone tried one of those? How do they hold up against a serious chewer?

MemberAnd oh yeah, spot on about that durability comment—not even a single tear yet, despite my dog’s love for digging into it like theres no tomorrow. Anybody else find it surprisingly easy to clean? Could be absolute lifesaver tip there for newbies!

MemberTotally agree on the chew resistant spray tip! We’ve had a Tempur Pedic bed for our Golden, Duke, for about two years and he’s only chewed on it once during that time. It was a real ‘oh no’ moment but we got a hold of some of that bitter apple spray and sprayed it all over the bed. Since then, he hasn’t touched it aside from lying down (Whew!).
I also gotta second the love for those washable covers. They’re complete game changers when it comes to keeping things fresh and tidy. I personally prefer darker colors to hide any potential stains, ya know?
Has anyone thought about pairing the bed with a cooling mat duirng the summer months? Duke seems to really like his mat but i’m curious to know how well they’d work together.
Cheers,

MemberAdvice from this side of the fence – stick with just cleaning the cover itself. If a deep clean is really needed, maybe consider getting it professionally cleaned? Has anyone ever took theirs to a professional cleaner? I imagine it wouldn’t be too pricey… Way cheaper than replacing the whole bed at least!
