  • Just came across the washing machine question about Pelsbarn Dog Bed. I’ve been in that exact spot annd let me tell you, don’t do it! I tried once and it came out all lumpy. Took me ages and a whole lot of patience to get it back into shape.

Better off just spot washing it tbh. If the dirt’s real bad, flip it inside out and give it a good scrub. Works wonders for my Macey’s bed.

Has anyonr else had a similar experience? Would love to hear your tibits on this. Cheers!

dog-parents, totally hear the love for the Orvis dog bed. I splurged on one for my senior Lab last year and she did take to it, no question. But after about 8 months, it started getting a bit saggy in the center (might be just my Lab being a total couch potato haha).

Have any of you tried the Big Barker? Got one recently as a second bed for another part of the house and seems really durable + supportive. Has anyone else had experiences with both Orvis and Big barker? Would love to compare notes!

Just wanted to chime in with my two cents on the Orvis bed. I’ve had one for my golden retriever, Bailey, for a couple of years now, and let me tell you – it’s worth every penny! That thing is sturdy af and comfy as it gets. I won’t deny the price tag gave me a mini heart attack at first, lol, but since then it has withstood Bailey’s zoomies and digging rituals better than any other bed we’ve tried before.

As for Ruffwear…it’s been on my radar too but just like some of you’ve shared, it’s the price that makes me hesitate. Wondering if its durability and comfort aligns with Orvis though? Any insight from anyone who has used both?

Edited to add: forgetting to mention how much Bailey loves his Orvis – might’ve seen dogs who couldn’t care less bout their beds but not him! Every night he’s straight tl bed as soon as he’s done his last patrol around the yard.

Has anyone noticed the bed sorta trapping heat though? Fifi loves it in winter, but come summer she’s always sprawled out on the tile floor. Maybe someone has found a cooler bed that’s still good for joint support?

Are all your pets similarly smitten with it or some took time to adjust? Jake seems to love his morning lounging… not surprised Benny and him are today’s comrades in comfort! Is there a particular method you guys use to teach them it’s thier new favorite place (other than its obvious charm, of course)? The transition was such a breeze with Benny that we never really had to do much.

Regarding the sagging issue…I didn’t notice any until about 8 months in. Started throwing a blanket folded up in the middle and it seemed to help with that issue.

As long as we’re talking alternatives, I’ve been eyeing this orthopedic one from PetFusion – anyone tried them out? They claim to have better ‘shape retention’. Might be a good option if sagging is an issue for y’all.

Oh man, totally get the struggle with moving that Tempur Pedic dog bed around – it’s a chunky thing for sure! We actually have one for our labrador, Benny. I was worried at first about the weight too but tried out your rug tip annd it worked prettty good considering. 😂

Also, honestly, our Benny loved his new bed from the melt-go moment. No more yapping in the middle of the night cause he can’t find a comfy spot! Sleeps like a baby now and his old joint pains seems way better these days. Super plush and supports weight evenly – feels exactly like my own Tempur Pedic mattress lol. Little jealous actually…

Has anyone else seen major improvements in thier dog’s sleep since swapping to Tempur Pedic? 🐾

Has anyone else found the covers to be quite hard to clean? Don’t ask how, but Bruno managed to get peanut butter all over his. Guess that’s one advantage the Furhaven has over Reddy – easier cleaning routine. Any tips?

I totally agree with you guys! Got my own Coolaroo maybe 3 years back for my German shepherd, Bella. Since then, it’s been her favourite chill spot – rain or shine! It’s specially great in summers because of its cooling effect – way less panting I’ve noticed. As for the chewing, not to worry, she too had a phase but grew out of it eventually. Anyways, have any of yuo tried adding an extra blanket on top for additional comfort and warmth during winter months? Doing this made a huge diffrence for our fur-baby in colder weather.
