ParticipantI’ll add my two cents here too, as an owner of two energetic Dobermans. They’ve been on Wag dry dog food for over a year now and seem to really enjoy the taste. The size of the kibble is just right for them, and it keeps their coats looking shiny which is a plus. But the best part is that it’s quite affordable compared to other brands without any compromise on nutrition. Just be sure to introduce it slowly into their diet to avoid upsetting their tummies. Always consult a vet if you see any sudden changes in your dogs health after changing his/her food or any other product!

ParticipantJust took a trip down memory lane reading y’alls posts about Wag dry dog food. I remember it being a leg-saver for my laborador, Toby. The dang thing wouldn’t eat anything but wag for a solid six months, can you beleive it? he even refused to touch his beloved peanut butter-filled Kong toy if there wasn’t some Wag mixed in. Any of you ever have that with your dogs? Also curious, has anyone tried transitioning their furbabies from Wag to another brand successfully? Thinking it might be high-time Toby expands his culinary horizons—fingers crossed he doesn’t turn his nose up at the newcomer!

ParticipantHah, Wag dry dog food huh! Been down that road, my friend. My Rufus is a golden retriever with a king-size appetite and an equally large heart. When I first got him on Wag, he loved the kibble size and gobbled it down in no time. The price point was just right for my budget too.
However, I found that bags weren’t as durable as I’d like. A slight puncture had those little nuggets rolling all over the floor. Ever tried cleaning up dog food from under your furniture? Not a fun way to spend Saturday afternoon.
Don’t get me wrong, Wag is not bad per se. As an alternative though, you might consider Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula. Same price range, but their bags are super sturdy and Rufus seems to love their Chicken and Brown Rice Recipe just as well.
Anyone else switched from Wag to another brand? Would love to hear more experiences!

ParticipantI’ve always been a fan of Heart to Tail dog treats for my Golden Retriever, Sandy. Given her size, the treats are perfect—not too small, not too large—and she absolutely adores them! The price is also quite reasonable considering they’re all-natural. Once I left a treat out, and when I came back home, I found it where I left it—durable indeed!
In my opinion, introducing these treats gradually is the best approach if your dog is new to natural ingredients. That’s what worked for us. tho, if you notice any significant changes in your pet’s behavior or health condition after switching, do consider consulting a vet—it could be an allergy that you’re not aware of.
Has anyone tried Heart to Tail’s other flavors? Sandy loves the peanut butter & honey ones, and I am thinking about trying the chicken flavor next.

ParticipantJust chiming in here, as well. I’ve been using Minties for my Bulldog, Buster, for a few months now. He’s quite picky with treats, but these he devours, and they seem to be helping him maintain his dental health too. Plus the size is perfect for him – not too small to swallow whole and not too big for his mouth either. A little tip though – make sure you store them properly or they tend to lose their freshness after a while. I keep them sealed in the original packet inside an airtight container and that’s worked great so far! Any one else had experience with other flavors? We’re just dabbling with the peppermint right now.

ParticipantAbsolutely agree with all of you about the size of the Ol’ Roy dog treats! I have two Boxer dogs and these treats are just perfect for them. In my experience, having sizable treats like Ol’ Roy has been really valuable during training sessions as it helps maintain their interest. The price is also quite friendly for those of us on a budget! Here’s a little tip: instead of giving one whole piece to smaller dogs, try breaking it into smaller pieces – it lasts longer and makes it less overwhelming for them! Aren’t we all looking to make our treat stash last a bit longer?
02/06/2025 at 7:10 PM in reply to: “Swap and Hop: My Applaws Dry Dog Food Review after Switching Brands” #6559Gentle_Beagle_8151
ParticipantI’ve been using Applaws for my high-energy Border Collie, Jake, for about a year now and we’re both big fans. I initially switched because he had become a bit finicky with his old brand, but he took to the Applaws immediately. The kibble size is just right for him and he seems to love the taste. Plus, looking at the ingredients list, it’s reassuring to see real meat up top – a must for Jake’s active lifestyle! If anyone else is considering swapping, might I suggest gradually mixing in the new food with the old one over a week or so to help their pooch adjust? That’s what worked for us! Although every dog reacts differently to dietary changes so if anything seems off, do consult your vet.

ParticipantI made the swap to Applaws a while back for my German Shepherd, Max. The smaller size of the kibble was initially a concern given Max’s pretty large size, but he took to it like a duck to water – no problems there at all. Durability-wise, it holds up great and there’s minimum crumble which is always a plus in my book. Price-wise, I won’t sugarcoat it, it’s not the cheapest brand out there but for me, the quality justifies the cost. Plus I get one happy and satisfied doggo which is priceless!
Just a tip for anyone considering switching; I found that gradually introducing the new food mixed with their old over a week or two helps ease any digestive upsets. It worked perfectly for Max! Though, still best to consult your vet too before making dietary changes. Has anyone else noticed an improvement in their dog’s coat after switching to Applaws? Max’s coat seems shinier and healthier than ever!
12/27/2024 at 3:33 PM in reply to: “Why the Switch to Trekker’s Calming Dog Treats Was Totally Worth It!” #7293Gentle_Beagle_8151
ParticipantNot long ago, my Rhodesian Ridgeback, Toffee, would become overexcited whenever we had company. I tried Trekker’s Calming Dog Treats after reading good reviews about it on an online pet community forum. Unfortunately, I can’t exactly echo the same level of success others have enjoyed.
Toffee is a pretty big dog and she tends to need more than the suggested serving size for any type of treats – so maybe size and breed factor into how effective these treats can be. Don’t get me wrong, there was a noticeable difference in her behavior but not as much as I’d hoped for. Now my question: Has anyone with larger breed dogs found a successful dosage? Or am I better off seeking an alternative option? (of course without forgetting that what works for one might not necessarily work for another!) And always bearing in mind to consult our vet before making any dietary adjustments! Any leads here would be appreciated!

ParticipantLike many of you, I’ve found that Full Moon dog treats are a real hit with my fur family. My Yorkie, Daisy, adores the chicken strips and she looks forward to her treat-time so much now. Size-wise, they’re perfect for smaller breeds like her; not too big but satisfying enough. For anyone new to these goodies, I’d suggest introducing them slowly into your pup’s diet to avoid any potential upset tummies. Just remember to adjust their main meal portion accordingly as these treats are rich in protein! Overall, they’re a bit pricey compared to some other brands but absolutely worth it given the quality ingredients used. Also, owners on the go will love that they come in resealable bags—very convenient! Wondering if anyone has tried using these as training rewards? Seems like they could be highly motivational for our canine pals.

ParticipantMy Thoughts on Pet Pride Dog Treats
Hey folks, just wanted to chip in here on the Pet Pride Dog treats discussion. I’ve been buying these for my Golden Retriever, Charlie, for about a year now, and he absolutely loves them. The size is pretty substantial – perfect for a larger breed like mine and they hold up well during his chew sessions.
Charlie can sometimes be quite picky with his food, but these treats are always a hit. I love the variety and the price point is definitely a big plus!
I do advice to always supervise your dog while they are enjoying these treats though, especially if you have a heavy chewer or smaller dog. They’re pretty sturdy, but there have been one or two instances where Charlie managed to obliterate one in no time flat.
Just remember everyone- although our furry friends may love certain treats or foods, it’s always a good idea to vary their diet and not rely solely on things like this. And of course, check with your vet if any concerns pop up!
Curious to know how do other pet parents balance treat time? Would love any suggestions!

ParticipantInteresting to hear you all chanting praises for Fromm dog treats, but I’ve personally found value in another brand – Blue Buffalo’s Crunchy Dog Treats. Xena, my German Shepherd, prefers them over the Fromm ones we tried earlier, and they’re jsut as easy to break up for training rewards. Plus, they are less pricey in my local store, which makes it budget-friendly in the long run. Nevertheless, it’s amazing how dogs have their own preferences too just like us! Might be worth swapping out the treats every now and then to give our furry friends a bit of variety? Share your thoughts.
Gentle_Beagle_8151
ParticipantOh, absolutely! My Labrador, Max, has been enjoying Good Lovin’ treats every afternoon after his walk for the past 6 months. He especially loves the beef variety. Just the rustle of the packet has him sitting at attention ready for it! Size-wise, they’re perfect; not too small to be gone in a fraction of a second but not large enough to make him choke either. The price is a tad steep considering there are cheaper options around but seeing how much Max looks forward to his treat time, I wouldn’t mind shelling out that extra bit. I would definitely recommend these treats as a training reward or an occasional delight – just remember not to overindulge your pup! Bad habit formations can creep up faster than we think.
10/18/2024 at 7:19 AM in reply to: Stewart Dog Treats Review: A Detailed Look into My Pup’s New Favorite Snack #6778Gentle_Beagle_8151
ParticipantAbsolutely have to echo the praises for Stewart dog treats! When I first came across these, I was a bit skeptical because of my Dalmatian’s notorious pickiness. He’s turned his nose up at more fancy treats than I can count! But with the Stewarts, it was love at first bite.
They’re the perfect size for training rewards and their consistency allows for easy breaking into smaller pieces if necessary. Plus they seem to hold up pretty well even when carried around in a pocket on long walks. I also appreciate that they aren’t overly fragrant like some other treats out there.
And anyone else marveling at the value for the price? High-quality ingredients without breaking the bank is something every dog owner can get behind! How are your pups responding to other flavours in their line-up? Thinking of branching out from the original recipe with my Finn next time.
09/26/2024 at 2:51 AM in reply to: Unexpected Surprises with “The Bear and The Rat dog treats” – A Comprehensive Review #7168Gentle_Beagle_8151
ParticipantWow, you hit the nail on the head with your review of “The Bear and The Rat” treats! Even my finicky Shiba Inu, Max, couldn’t resist them. The size was jsut perfect for him and I appreciated how well they held up without crumbling—no mess to clean up later. Sure, they might be a little pricier than some other options out there, but in my opinion, it’s definately worth every cent considering the quality and Max’s joy.
On another note, I found these treats super helpful during training sessions too—the flavor was a huge incentive for Max! Now that’s not saying ditch all your training methods though—using these as a high-value reward worked wonders alongside regular commands and praise.
Has anyone tried using these treats for agility or advanced training exercises? I’d love to hear about what kinds of “tricks” your pups have picked up with the help of “The Bear and The Rat”!
