ParticipantWell, well, well, look at all of these Heart to Tail enthusiasts out there! My old boy, Rascal, a stubborn as a mule beaggle has quite the discerning palate. Now don’t misunderstand me, he didn’t snub his nose at Heart to Tail per se, but let’s just say they didn’t make it onto his top treat list either.
Believe it or not, our Rascal goes absolutely bananas for Farmer’s Market Chicken & Sweet Potato Jerky. Claims to have all-natural ingredients and grain-free – plus its size is perfect for his little chompers. Price wise? You might want to sit down for this one, becuase they’re not exactly cheap. But hey! At least you know your pup’s munching on something good.
But everyone’s taste varies right? Any other doggos out there have some hidden gourmet tastes we should know about? Let’s expand our horizons beyond Heart to Tail!

ParticipantDefinitely in agreement about Applaws dry dog food. I switched my energetic Labrador, Rocky, to this brand quite a while ago. The kibble size is perfect for him and it seems really digestible too! Initially, I was lured in by the natural ingredients and solid nutritional information, but what sealed it for me was seeing how much Rocky enjoyed his meals. As for price, yes, it’s slightly premium but considering the quality – I’d say it’s a fair deal. By the way, any of you guys tried their grain free options yet? Did you notice any particular changes in your pup’s behavior or energy level post switch?

ParticipantOh boy, the Fresh Kisses Dog Treats! I’ve got a tale to tell about these. Had them for my old collie, Max, a while back and he was crazy about them. No kidding, the size was perfect for him – not too small to be a choking hazard and not too big to intimidate him. The minty fresh smell was a plus for us humans in the house too, gotta appreciate that!
Here’s the rub though – durability wasn’t their strong suit. Max would chew through them like a hot knife through butter (speaking metaphorically here folks). After a couple of days, they’d be completely obliterated which wasn’t great for the wallet if you ask me.
An alternate? Well, we switched to the ‘Dogsee Chew’s Puffies’, freeze-dried yak milk treats from the Himalayas. No joke, they’re pretty durable and Max seems to enjoy them just as much. They also last a tad longer than the Fresh Kisses.
So yeah, may want to give those Puffies a try if the Fresh Kisses disappear too quickly for your four-legged freind. Or has anyone else found another long-lasting treat option?
fluffyfurbuddy1938
Participantfolks, let me toss my two cents into the ring about Fresh Kisses Dog Treats. We’ve been using them for a while with our terrier mix, Rocket. They’ve been, well, interesting to say the least. Is it just me or do these treats seem a wee bit oversized for smaller breeds? Rocket works at it and enjoys the flavor but it takes a solid day or two, sometimes even three, for him to finish just one! As someone who’s budget cautious, the price seemed fair initially but when considering Rocket was only making his way through 2-3 treats a week, I had to stop and ponder – is there such thing as too durable in this case?
Has anyone else faced similar issues with their smaller pups? Maybe I should give ’em another go utilizing those nifty divide-and-conquer tactics you guys love sharing here! Thoughts?
Disclaimer: As always, if your fur baby shows any adverse reactions or behaviors, suggest a quick trip to your trusted veterinarian!

ParticipantEchoing Praises for Fresh Kisses Dog Treats
Body: I’m completely on-board with the good things you’re saying about Fresh Kisses dog treats. Been giving them to my Rowdy, a Rottweiler mix, since he was a pup. At first, finding the right size was a bit of a challenge, but once we did, he’s been simply head-over-tail in love with them. Rowdy’s quite a big boy so I always go for the large size treats—you might want to experiment with sizes until you find one that seems comfortable for Buster to munch? As well, I’ve noticed these treats seem to help maintain his dental hygiene (although I’d still recommend regular vet visits to address any major dental concerns). Rowdy’s been on them for 4 years now and, paw on heart, not had any major issue at all! Have you heard anything about their coconut oil variant? Worth trying perhaps…
12/26/2024 at 2:21 AM in reply to: “Why the Switch to Trekker’s Calming Dog Treats Was Totally Worth It!” #7291fluffyfurbuddy1938
ParticipantI couldn’t echo your sentiments more on the subject of Trekker’s Calming Dog Treats! I myself have a very excitable, tail-wagging lab named Daisy. There were nights she’d be so full of energy that she’d keep the whole household up with her antics!
What worked surprisingly well for us was using these treats as a part of our nightly routine. We’d give Daisy one right before bed, and it would mellow her down significantly. They’re small enough to not interfere with her meals and also seem to last quite a while given their size, making them excellent value for money.
However, I am curious if anyone has tried integrating these treats into training routines? Any tips or ideas from fellow dog owners? Remember though, folks, if there are any drastic behavioural changes in your pets, it’s always best to consult your vet.

ParticipantAbsolutely loving these Full Moon dog treats over here too, folks. My Golden Retriever, Sunny, can’t get enough of them. Here’s my micro-story – the second I open the bag, she’s literally right there wagging her tail furiously. But, here’s my question: Has anyone tried using these as training treats? Would they be a bit large for that or are they easy to break into smaller pieces? SlimJims didn’t realy fill the bill for us because Sunny would jsut swallow them whole! So, I’m on the lookout for something more substantial and enticing but suitable for training sessions too. Any advice is much appreciated! No medical claims here, but if your dog shows any negative reactions you should definitely talk to your vet. Happy snacking, all you doggos out there.
fluffyfurbuddy1938
ParticipantAbsolutely agree with you all about the Full Moon treats. My Dalmatian, Spot, goes bonkers for them! They’re perfectly sized for him, and the resealable bag is surely a plus – keeps ’em fresh and crunchy every time! And hey, they’re not just tasty, they feel somewhat healthy too. Pleasantly surprised with the quality for such a decent price.
In terms of advice – well, these work great as training tweaks. Spot’s been more eager during agility drills since I’ve started using these as rewards. Just remember to adjust their regular meal portions if you’re using treats frequently throughout the day.
Was anyone else initially worried about how their pupper would react to the chicken flavor? Interested to hear your thoughts around that.
11/14/2024 at 2:01 AM in reply to: “Honest Nutro Dog Treats Review: Efficient and Value for Money, Perhaps?” #6809fluffyfurbuddy1938
ParticipantI agree with much of what’s been said about Nutro treats; my GSD mix, Bruno, quite enjoys them. They’re a good size for his large jaws and they certainly do last him a bit longer than other brands. Price wise, they’re decent enough, especially considering the quality of ingredients listed on the packaging. However, I’ve noticed that he gets thirsty fairly quickly after having one – might be a noteworthy tidbit for those whose pups are constantly on the go! All things considered, it’s an efficient treat that delivers good value for money. But do bear in mind every dog is unique, and this has just been my experience with Bruno. Anyone else notice their dogs feeling a tad thirsty after these?
fluffyfurbuddy1938
ParticipantInteresting to see the varied experiences. There’s certainly no one-size-fits-all when it comes to our canine companions! Having been a dog dad for over a decade now, I’ve tried these Fromm treats with some success too. Biscuit, my Labrador absolutely adores them and they seem pretty easy on his tummy. Though I’d say they’re a bit on the pricier side compared to other brands—we’ve found similar results with less expensive options.
They’re also quite substantial in size, so if you have a small breed dog or even a puppy, these might seem overwhelming. Breaking them down into smaller pieces is an option though. Anybody else finds this necessary?
Can’t stress enough though — always check with your vet if you’re concerned about introducing a new type of treat into your pet’s diet! Every fido is unique.
fluffyfurbuddy1938
ParticipantBeen buying Old Mother Hubbard Dog Treats for my energetic corgi, Max, for 2 years now and he absolutely devours them. They’re on the smaller side, which is perfect for his dainty mouth. Plus the price isn’t half bad compared to other premium treats out there. Only hiccup was when I accidentally bought the extra crunchy variety (the packaging looks almost the same!) and poor Max had a tough time crunching down. Always double check before you buy! Just out of curiosity – anyone else tried their grain-free version yet? Are they as good as these ones?
fluffyfurbuddy1938
ParticipantCouldn’t agree more with all your reviews about Old Mother Hubbard Dog Treats! I’ve got a pair of adventurous Boxers who could sniff out a treat hidden in any nook or cranny around the house. These biscuit treats have not only perfect sizing for quick rewards, but also a great texture that they enjoy chewing. Plus, with their reasonable price point, my wallet isn’t crying every time I decide to treat my pups. jsut remember folks, no matter how good these are rated, remember to balance treats out with meals as per your dog’s dietary needs – and as always, if your pet is showing any adverse reactions, it’s advisable to consult your vet. Anybody else’s dogs masters at finding hidden treats or is it just my boxers?
10/26/2024 at 2:11 PM in reply to: “My Honest Ollie Dry Dog Food Review: The Good and the Not so Good” #6416fluffyfurbuddy1938
ParticipantDefinitely interesting to read everyone’s take on Ollie dry dog food. My own experience with it and my labrador has been mostly positive as well. He seems to enjoy the taste and variety of Ollie recipes. However, as an owner on a budget, I must say it can be a bit on the pricier side compared to other brands we’ve tried in the past.
We found switching him slowly over to the new food worked best – started by mixing it in with his old food and gradually increased the amount of Ollie over about a week. Less gastrointestinal upset that way! Still, always best to mention any diet changes to your vet.
As for its durability, I’ve stored bags for about 6 months (our lab is on the smaller side so he doesn’t go through it quite as fast) and haven’t noticed any change in the quality or freshness. But again, that’s just my personal experience. Curious if anyone else has similar stories or tips on how to make high-quality food like this more affordable?
10/23/2024 at 3:24 AM in reply to: “Finally Tried the Happy Hips Dog Treats: Here’s My Honest Review” #7084fluffyfurbuddy1938
ParticipantAlthough I agree that Happy Hips is a fantastic choice, especially for older dogs with joint concerns, I’ve noticed that the size of these treats tends to vary in the pack. Does anyone else experience this? I’ve had Lab-mixes for over 17 years, annd my current girl, Bella, starts munching on them like there’s no tomorrow! However, because of the varying sizes, portion control can get a bit tricky. I worry about overfeeding. Any tips?
fluffyfurbuddy1938
ParticipantAbsolutely agree on the popularity of Fromm dog treats! They were life-saver for my Rottweiler mix, Max. He can be a bit finnicky with his treats but gobbled these up like there was no tomorrow. One thing I’d like to mention is that they are slightly high on the price side, so might not work for everyone’s budget.
For those who are cost-conscious, another great alternative we’ve found are the Canidae Grain-Free Pure Heaven Biscuits. They come in multiple flavours and Max seems to love them almost as much as Fromm’s. The size is also perfect for training sessions or just casual rewarding.
Regardless of your choice, it always worth remembering to introduce any new treat gradually to avoid upsetting their diet routine. Has anyone else tried any different yet affordable brands that their canines particularly loved?
