ParticipantThought I’d add my two cents into this Dingo treats discussion. My stubborn ol’ bulldog, Bruno, is notoriously picky with his food. To my surprise, he really seemed to enjoy these Dingo treats. They’re roughly the right size for him and the price point is great considering their quality. The durability of them is also a plus, as they keep Bruno busy for a while.
For those struggling to get their dogs to try ’em, I found mixing it in with their regular meals worked a treat. Just a tip you might wanna give it a shot! And of course if there are any unusual reactions, best to consult your vet. Any other owners have tricks to introduce new treats?
fluffy_petparent_8959
ParticipantSo let’s talk about the size of these treats – they’re massive, aren’t they? In my snarky experience, anything bigger than a quarter is overkill for training treats. My terrier, Scooby, gobbled them up fast but then ignored the commands looking for more – hard to teach “sit” when your pup’s on a treat treasure hunt! I ended up chopping them into smaller peices. Anyone else thinking these treats should come in a more bite-sized format? Or maybe it’s just my little Scoob who can be a real snack-munching rogue at times!

ParticipantTotally get what all the fuss is about with the Smokehouse dog treats! My little Dachshund, Daisy absolutely adores them. I found that not only is the size jsut right for her, but these treats last a decent amount of time as well. Plus, I think the price is pretty fair for the quality you get. It’s Daisy’s “special reward” when she performs her tricks perfectly in front of guests – they never fail to impress both her and our visitors!

ParticipantI’ve got to agree with the mixed feelings here. My dachshund, Zoe, really loves Fresh Kisses Dog Treats mainly for the taste and texture, I presume. Despite her enthusiasm, we had to stop using them because they seemed a bit large for her small mouth, leading to some struggle while chewing.
Just as a little advice for those with smaller breeds – always check carefully if the size of the treat suits your fur munchkin before buying in bulk. After my experience, I have started using smaller-sized dental chews which are working well for Zoe. Side-note: Remember to advise everyone on always supervising their doggies while they are enjoying these treats – no matter how size-appropriate it might be! Safety first.
Has anyone else faced a similar issue? Do larger breeds handle these treats better?
fluffy_petparent_8959
ParticipantI’ve been using Fresh Kisses for my furbaby for a while now, and it’s been a mixed journey. No denying they’re a convenient option because the size fits perfecty in my pooch’s mouth and the treats have decent durability. But when it comes to price point, I find it a bit on the higher side. It made me wonder if there were more friendly options out there.
So, I decided to give some other brands like Bones & Chews or American Journey a shot, which offer similar benefits at a much better price point. Surprisingly, my dog took to them rather well and they seem just as effective when it comes to dental hygiene. Keeping in mind every ‘pupsonality’ is different, maybe give ’em a try? Anybody else have alternative treat suggestions?

ParticipantOh, absolutely count me in the Trekker’s Calming Dog Treats’ fan club! I’ve got two extremely energetic Border Collies at home annd people offen joke that they’re powered by rocket fuel. But once I introduced them to these gems, wowzers! Their energy levels became more manageable and bonus – they love the taste of ’em! Initially, I was a little wary about the size being too big for ’em to chew but they surprised me. Can anyone suggest how often I should be giving them these treats? Just keen on keeping the balance right. As always, better to consult a vet if you have any major dietary concerns for your doggo.

ParticipantI gotta chime in here about Trekker’s Calming Dog Treats. Ever since introducing them to our high-spirited Boxer, Bruno, we’ve observed quieter evenings and an overall more relaxed pooch. One thing worth mentioning is the size of these treats: they’re perfect for a bigger dog like Bruno, but I can see how smaller breeds might struggle a bit with them. So sizing could definitely be a consideration. But regarding effectiveness and value-for-money, Trekker’s hits it out of the park!

ParticipantDefinitely see the appeal of Trekker’s Calming dog treats, especially with their natural ingredients and formulary focus on keeping pups relaxed. My own furball, Chester, was a fan of ’em when he started showing signs of anxiety during thunderstorms. However, I found that they were a tad too large for my little Corgi. Also, the flavor didn’t quite hit the mark with Chester after awhile.
I switched over to Chill Paws Calming Treats instead: they’re smaller in size (great for little mouths) and have a broader range of flavors that keeps Chester interested. Plus, their formula is also very focused on keeping pets calm without causing drowsiness. Just remember, it’s always a good plan to check with your vet before introducing new things into your dog’s diet!
Anyone else tried these Chill Paw treats? How did your dogs respond to them?

ParticipantJust joining the Full Moon treats fan club over here with my mischievous Dalmatian, Spot! They’ve become our go-to treats for training sessions. He’s usually a quick chewer but these last him quite a while, which is great for keeping him occupied too. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the treats – they’re bigger than your average treat but not too large for smaller breeds. They’re made from natural ingredients, which eases my mind about what Spot’s eating. As for price, they are slightly more expensive than other brands but I feel it’s well worth it considering the quality annd how long they last. For anyone considering giving these a whirl, I’d say – go fot it! Just remember, consult your vet if you notice any changes in your pet’s behaviour or eating habits. Anyopne else spotted these on special anywhere?

ParticipantI’ve been giving my 2-year-old Beagle, Maggie, these Full Moon dog treats for a few weeks now and she’s head over tail in love with them! The ingredients are all-natural, which is a huge plus for me. Their size is perfect for smaller breeds like Maggie too!
Here’s a little story…a week ago, we were working on leash training and she was really distracted by a squirrel she spotted across the park. I whipped out one of these treats and suddenly I had her full attention again. So these not only work great as a treat but also as an effective training gadget.
The only downside I found is the price point. While they’re fantastic quality, they are slightly on the pricier end of dog treats I’ve bought before. But you know what they say – you get what you pay for!
If you’re looking for an alternative though, you might want to look into Rocco & Roxie’s gourmet jerky sticks. They’re similar in quality but more affordable. My previous dog, Buster, was absolutely nuts about them.
Something to bear in mind if you’re transitioning your fur baby from their regular treats to a new brand like Full Moon – always make sure to do it gradually or their tummy might not agree with the change!
Does anyone else have experience with high-quality treats that don’t break the bank? Please share your finds!
11/03/2024 at 4:30 AM in reply to: “Honest Nutro Dog Treats Review: Efficient and Value for Money, Perhaps?” #6798fluffy_petparent_8959
ParticipantI can’t argue with the popularity of Nutro treats in this crowd, but personally, my Golden Retriever Shelby seems to prefer Blue Buffalo’s Wilderness treats instead. They’re a bit pricier, but she really enjoys the different flavors offered. This is especially helpful during training sessions – switching up the treat flavors keeps her paying close attention! I think it might boil down to your dog’s personal taste, so you might want to consider trying out different brands and flavors as well. Have any of you guys had the same luck switching up treat brands?
10/28/2024 at 9:52 PM in reply to: “My Honest Ollie Dry Dog Food Review: The Good and the Not so Good” #6420fluffy_petparent_8959
ParticipantTotally get where you’re coming from, my friends. I’ve been a dog owner for over 10 years now and Ollie dry dog food has been a hit with both my Labradors. They’ve always enjoyed mealtimes ever since we made the switch.
To address the issue about kibble size, my dogs seemed to adjust pretty quickly. They can be quite rough eaters though! For smaller breeds or older dogs with dental issues, it might take some getting used to or they may prefer a different texture.
I found Ollie’s ingredient list quite impressive. Kudos to them for focusing on real meat and veggies. My dogs especially love the beef flavor one (which is no surprise seeing how much they go bonkers over a juicy steak!).
As for the price, well that’s where it gets a bit tricky. Given the quality of ingredients they use, Ollie is understandably on the pricier side compared to regular supermarket brands.
What’s everyone else’s experience with transitioning their fur babies to high-quality foods like Ollie? Specifically in terms of initial reaction and adjustment period? Find it best to introduce new foods gradually to avoid upsetting their stomachs. Always good idea to consult your vet too if any concerns arise!

Participantthere, fellow dog lovers. Just want to say that I’ve been using Ollie dry dog food for about a year with my Golden Retriever, and we’ve had mostly good experiences. Her coat is looking shinier than ever and she seems much more energized during our daily walks.
I however noticed that the size of the kibble pieces seems to have changed recently- they look slightly bigger than before. Has anyone else noticed this? Extra large kibbles can sometimes be hard for smaller breeds or older dogs to gnaw on (been there, helped my previous senior Spaniel through it).
Just a heads-up to those considering Ollie: double-check the kibble size if you have a petite or geriatric pup. As always, consult your vet for any health related concerns! Anyone else have thoughts and recommendations around this?

ParticipantThat’s intriguing how everyone’s experiences with Fromm dog treats seem to be so varied. As for me, I’ve been using these treats for my Golden Retriever, Benjie, for a while now. He goes crazy over them! Each time he sees the packet in my hand, let me tell you…it’s tail-wagging euphoria.
In terms of size annd durability – they are just perfect; not too big and not too small. Plus, they are sturdy enough to withstand Benjie’s enthusiastic chewing without crumbling into pieces.
However, one aspect that did make me raise an eyebrow initially was the price point. They are a bit on the pricier side as compared to other dog treats available on market. But after witnessing how much Benjie loves them and considering the high-quality ingredients used by Fromm, it’s a justified cost for us.
How are others feeling about the price point? Do you think it’s justified by the quality and your dogs’ reaction to them?
fluffy_petparent_8959
ParticipantJust started giving the Good Lovin’ treats to my border collie, Daisy, about a month ago and she seems to really enjoy them. They’re solid enough to last her a good bit but soft enough that they don’t cause any discomfort for her – so for us, durability’s really on par. My only gripe might be their size; for smaller dogs they might be a bit big?
Regarding their price, I’d say it’s pretty competitive with other quality dog treats out there. However, do be mindful of the fact that these are “treats” and not meant as supplements or meal replacements, always check in with your vet if you’re uncertain on feeding routines.
Has anyone else noticed if their dogs have a flavor preference? Daisy seems really fond of the beef ones but isn’t too keen on the chicken. Would love to hear your thoughts!
