Even though NutriSource treats are pretty fabulous for the most part, I’ve personally found an alternate treat that my border collie, Max, seems to prefer more – the Zuke’s Mini Naturals. Considering thier size and texture, these treats work phenomenally for training without overfeeding Max. They are also great on the budget! For new dog parents trying to figure out what works best for their dogs, give Zuke’s a shot if NutriSource isn’t hitting the mark. Remember though, every dog has different preferences and dietary needs so it’s always about finding what works best for your furry friend!

I’ve got this adorable Mastiff, Molly, who just tears into any treat she gets. Bought NutriSource ones thinking they might be more durable with their firmer texture, and hey, I wasn’t wrong! They stand up to her chewin’ quite well. Pricey? Yeah, but for the quality and durability I think they’re well worth it. Molly seems to agree too! Just make sure your dog isn’t too hasty; even these tougher treats need some careful chewing. As always, keep a close eye when it’s treat time!

I totally agree about the price point, Aldi’s dog treats are definitely cost-effective. My old Labrador, Sam, enjoys them from time to time. However, I found that their durability doesn’t match up to some of the more premium brands out there, particularly for larger breeds with stronger jaws. So if you have a big chewer at home, you might want to go for something a bit sturdier. In terms of size though, they do offer a decent variety which is great for us dog parents with pups of different sizes. Always remember to trial and see what your dog likes best before buying in bulk!

And just wondering if anyone else has tried incorporating these treats into their training sessions? How did it go?

Totally on board with the DreamBone love here, but has anyone else noticed that they can be a little pricey? I mean, my sassy little Beagle mix (Gertie by name) adores them too, like will do more tricks than you knew exist! And the size and durability are perfect, keeping her occupied and satisfied for a good while. But then again, maybe it’s just me with a tighter budget for dog treats these days. How often y’all give these to your pups to make the cost manageable?

Oh boy, “Blue Dog Treats: The boulders of the dog snacks world” should be their new tagline. I can’t tell you how many times my Poodle, Freddie, just pushed it around with his snout like a tiny soccer ball before giving up in disgust. Size matters indeed! Anyone tried chopping them up into smaller bits? Sadly, Freddie wasn’t impressed with the taste then either, regardless of my best dog treat sommelier impression. Can anyone recommend another brand that may be a bit more Poodle palate-friendly?

That’s interesting to hear about your experiences with Wholehearted dog treats. I’ve been giving them to my terrier, Max, for about a year now and he never seems to tire of them. They’re bite-sized (perfect for his little mouth), seem quite durable and the price is reasonable too. He particularly loves the chicken and sweet potato variety!

However, I noticed that some posters have mentioned issues with their dogs not being as keen on these treats. Anyone else found this to be the case? I’m curious to know if the flavor or texture might be a factor here. It might help us all make better treat choices for our furry friends in the future!

Remember, treats should make up no more than 10% of your dogs daily caloric intake to ensure balanced nutrition. Always consult a vet if you have concerns about your pup’s diet.

    there fellow dog parents!

I’ve got to chime in here about my experience with Fresh Kisses Dog Treats. Just like some of you, I also have a picky little fur baby named Rex, who generally turns his nose up at most treats. But then I tried him on these goodies and boy oh boy did they change his attitude quickly!

The fact that they’re made from natural ingredients, with no artificial colors or preservatives is a major knob for me. The vet always breaks out into a grin when I bring them to our annual visit (no claim her folks, just really seems the vet loves these treats!).

As for size, my Rex is a medium-sized breed (Beagle), and the Medium Fresh Kisses seem to last him quite a while. He really enjoys his treat time and spends at least 15 minutes enjoying it which makes it worth every penny.

My one concern, though, was the durable material of these treats. Rex can really get into it sometimes and I worry about him potentially swallowing large pieces that could cause choking hazards—has anyone had any similar experiences with their dogs?

In any case, love seeing all the positive views on Fresh Kisses. Makes me even more confident I made the right choice! Let’s keep this thread going! Got more tips or alternative suggestions?

I’m in agreement with the Canidae dry dog food praises being that our energetic Golden Retriever, Sunny, has been thriving on it for about a year now. What really impresses me is that despite it being a bit pricier, you certainly get your money’s worth because of the ingredients quality and balance; I feel assured knowing Sunny’s getting a nutritious meal. One surprising thing we noted is less waste in our yard too which, to me, says Sunny’s really absorbing the beneficial components of the food. Has anyone else noticed less mess with Canidae? As always, consult your vet especially if your furry friend has specific dietary needs!

It’s truly great to see all the Greenies love here! I tried those with my Poodle, Ginger, a while back but found them a tad bit expensive in the long run. Switched to natural bully sticks instead – they are equally loved by Gingy, last longer and are more cost-effective! So if anyone is looking for alternatives without compromising on quality, you might want to give bully sticks a shot. Anybody else experienced with these or other treats with similar advantages?

Oh, Greenies, the green gold of dog treats, right? Don’t get me wrong, my Boxer loves them – but I gotta say, they aren’t the most budget-friendly option out there. I actually switched to Zuke’s Natural Training Dog Treats about a year ago. They’re smaller, so they last longer and they’re easier on my pocketbook! Plus, Sheldon (my boxer) seems to be none the wiser – he gobbles them up just as eagerly. Any of ya’ll tried Zuke’s? Might be a worthy alternative for those of us balancing wallets and wagging tails!

Absolutely a fan of Greenies over here as well – they’re especially great for my Shepherd mix. The regular size Greenies work wonders for his dental health while keeping him entertained.

If your dog is anything between medium and large, I’d recommend going for the regular or even the large size because they really gnaw at them, helping clean their teeth more effectively. I’ve found the durability to be impressive – it takes our guy quite some time to finish one, giving him plenty of enjoyment for his ‘treat’ time!

In terms of pricing, they may be a bit pricier than some other treats out there, but for us, it’s justified considering everything else (benefits, enjoyment). Plus I often find coupons or deals at PetSmart.

That being said, always remember to accompany these treats with a balanced diet and regular vet check-ups (especially if you notice redness or swelling in the gums after using Greenies), as it won’t solve all dental concerns on its own.

Have others found any alternative dental chews that your dogs love and do well with?

While I see why so many are raving about Ollie, my Beagle and I had a different experience. We tried both their dry and wet food for around 2 months, but my fussy little guy didn’t seem to love it as much as his previous food. Don’t get me wrong, the ingredient list is impressive and transparent which I truly appreciate, but every dog has unique tastes and preferences. On the bright side, Ollie’s customer service was top-notch when we decided to cancel our subscription. If your pup isn’t too keen on Ollie either, you might want to consider Natural Balance or Blue Buffalo, they’ve got a good range of flavors and my Beagle seems to enjoy them more! Remember though, for any drastic diet changes, it’s always best to consult your vet first.

Oh, I’ve tried these Old Mother Hubbard treats for my Maltipoo, Daisy. She seems really to enjoy them as well. Smaller in size than some other treats we’ve tried, they’re perfect for her petite mouth, and they seem relatively hardy considering they don’t break down into crumbs easily. As for the price point, they are a bit more on the expensive side compared to others on the market. However, if your dog enjoys them as much as Daisy does mine, it’s might just be worth the extra cost! Alternatively, has anyone tried Zuke’s Mini Naturals? They’re also small-shaped treats, and Daisy seems to like those just as much!

So glad to see fellow Fruitables fans here! I’ve been toggling between the pumpkin and apple flavors for my husky, Sky, for the past three years. She’s a real chewer and these treats definitely stand up to her tough chomping. The size is perfect too — not too large or small to hold their attention during training sessions. And I feel good knowing that they’re made from natural ingredients and are low in calories. They’re a little pricier than some other treats on the market, but considering the quality, I don’t mind splurging a bit. As always, if your furry pal has any dietary concerns or allergies, remember to consult your vet before introducing new treats to their regimen. Sky sends her paw of approval! 🐾

Anyone else tried out the blueberry flavor? I’m thinking it might be our next adventure!

I’ve been using Happy Dog Dry Food for my ol’ buddy Max, a border collie mix, for around 8 months now. I was a bit skeptical at first due to the slightly higher price tag, but honestly, it’s been worth every penny. Max seems more energetic and his coat is looking shinier. He also finishes his bowl faster than ever before which never happened with our previous brands.

My tip for anyone considering a switch would be to gradually introduce the food into your dog’s diet – suddenly changing foods can sometimes upset thier stomachs. It took Max about a week to fully adjust to Happy Dog.

Has anyone noticed if the food retains its freshness after opening? We’re halfway through our first bag and it still seems pretty good so far… But always looking for more insights from fellow pup parents!
