MemberHave to agree with some of you, investing in a solid dog bed sure seems like a good idea. We’ve tried out the Petco beds in the past, had mixed results. Some were okay, others… well let’s just say I was constantly collecting fluffy debris around the house 🙄.
Reading through these threads got me thinking about trying out this Kong chew-resistant bed – sounds like a real workhorse! But with that said (annd maybe a little off-topic) ever considered a hammock-style raised dog bed? They’re super durable and really great for outdoor usage since they keep the pooch off the cold ground.
Anyways just my two cents, perhaps give it some though if your furry guy or gal loves being outside ? 🐕🦺
Happy tail wagging everyone!

MemberComparing it to the Kong Chew Resistant that was mentioned earlier…well there’s definitely differing advantages Gus was always making mince meat out of his beds, but surprisingly he hasn’t made a dent in his Tuft and Needle – maybe its just too comfy to destroy?
Anyone else noticed their heavy-chewers give this bed a pass for destruction? Why do yer pups think of the tuft and needle compred to other bed brands?

MemberBut I found myself wonderin’, did anyone else notice any wear and tear after a few months? Bailey’s a bit of an energetic nester shall we say, and it looks like he might have done away with some of the padding overtime. jsut curious if this is just a “my dog” issue or if others have also noticed something similar. Any tips for keeping it looking (and feeling) fresh? Cheers!

MemberNoticed a couple of you said your beds are wobbly? I had the same issue but found tightening the screws every now and then solved the problem pretty quick. Might be worth giving a try?
To u/BoxerBruno’s owner, totally agree with how durable they are. My rambunctious retriever Bailey is a real chewer but he’s yet to make a dent in it!
On another note though, has anyone tried the Coolaroo elevated pet bed as an alternative? Hear they’re pretty solid too and might work better for those on a budget… Thoughts?

MemberNow I’ve seen some posts here suggesting coating the chewable parts with a bitter spray as a deterrent and I wonder, did anyone find this method effective overall? Just want to make sure I’m not dousing various pieces of furniture in bitter spray for nothing haha!

MemberNow abou the Furhaven, we tried that one too, but she jsut didn’t go for it as much, might be more about personal preference of our four-legged friends tho… Snoozer Cozy Cave is a pretty cool alternative you suggested there, mabye the next buy if my chewer ever gets through their Sheri bed 😅.

MemberWell, I’ve had a different experience from many of you guys. Been a dog owner for almost 2 decades now (how time flies!) and my dogs have always found the Petco beds pretty comfy. They particularly love that thick foam padding – it seems great for their joints. And while the price tag is definately on the hefty side, I gotta say that I’ve found these beds last way longer than some of the cheaper alternatives I tried. Can’t tell ya how much money I’ve ended wasting on shoddy beds that fell apart within months.
Still, as with anything else dog-related, it all comes down to your pooch’s preferences. Some dogs might not be into the Petco bed’s material – one friend’s Frenchie apparently hated it. But for me and my furry pals? Petco’s been a winner so far.
Only real quibble I got (and here’s where I agree with some previous posts) – is takes ages to get it properly clean when accidents happen. So yeah, maybe keep those puppy training pads handy till you’re sure they’re potty trained. 😉

MemberHowever, after a couple of years of regular use (annd machine washing), I’ve noticed that they aren’t as durable as other brands we’ve previously used – the material’s a bit thinner and doesn’t hold up too well against their clawing. If uve got dogs that love digging into thier beds before settling in, might want to keep an eye on wear n tear.
Anyone else had this issue or are my girls extra destructive? Does anyone have alternative suggestions for tough but comfy beds? Might be time for us to look into some new options…

MemberAnyone else try DIYing a dog bed before? Wondering if that might be more up her alley…

MemberRecently though, I’ve tried using a pet-friendly dry shampoo on the bed. Sprinkle some on, let it sit, then vacuum it up; works like magic! Gets rid of the hair, dirt AND smells too; basically everything our furry friends leave behind. Plus way handier than trying to stick it in the dishwasher or anything machines lol
Anyone else tried this trick or have any other cleaning hacks to share? Seems like no dog bed is safe from getting messy!

MemberNow on the cleanliness front, can’t agree more, those washable covers are freakin’ rad. Rotate em out, easy peasy. Never thought about the chew resistant spray though. Haha that would have been great when Max was younger – loved chewing everything in sight! Old chap has calmed down a bit now, thankfully.
Anyhow, just out of curiosity and maybe to prepare for future puppers, where’d you find good chew resistant sprays? Are they safe for all dogs? Want to make sure I’m not exposing my fur-buddy to anything potentially harmful.
