MemberI’ve had my German Shepherd, Max, on Kal Kan food for about a year now. Max is usually pretty picky but took to it right away. The kibble size is just right and seems easy for him to chew. Plus, the price point doesn’t hurt at all – it’s quite affordable for the quality you get.
Nutritionally, it’s comparable to many of the pricier brands out there with a good meat protein content. Do be mindful thogh, check the label and consult your vet as some dogs might need additional supplements depending on their breed or health conditions.
One downside I’ve noticed is that it’s not always readily available in all the stores around me, so I tend to bulk buy when I find them in stock.
Hope this helps! But remember, every dog is different so what works for my Max might not be as effective for your furry friend. It’s all about finding what suits them best! 🐾👍

MemberYeah, I’ve tried Wellness Core for my golden retriever, Toby. He’s always been a picky eater and has had some tummy issues in the past. We switched to Wellness Core about six months ago, and he’s done realy well on it. His coat’s shinier, his energy levels are up, and most importantly, no more tummy troubles.
It’s grain-free, which is good if your dog is sensitive to that stuff, but I’d recommend asking your vet before switching your buddy’s diet drastically. It might be a bit pricier than some brands, but you gotta remember that you’re paying for high-quality ingredients.
One downside is the taste apparently – Toby didn’t take to it right away like he did with some other foods. Seems more of a subtle flavor because he eventually got used to it…slowly but surely. All in all, I’ve been pretty happy with it. Definitely worth considering if you’re thinking about changing up Fido’s dinner plate.
Hope that helps!

MemberJust came across your post about Freshpet food. I’ve been feeding my husky-mix, Baxter, Freshpet for nearly a year now and honestly, his coat never looked better. Bax seemed bored with his old kibble, so thought we’d give Freshpet a shot after a friend recommended it.
It’s refrigerated food, which is a bit different but not too hard to get used to. You’ll find it in its own fridge typically near the pet aisle. It looks more like “real” food than most dog foods – Baxter literally drools every time I open the packet!
We started with their chicken recipe, has peas and carrots mixed up in it too. Bax took to it immediately! No tummy troubles with the transition either (bonus!). You’d think it’s gourmet the way he scarfs it down.
Downside? It’s a little pricier than standard kibble, but they often have coupons on their FB site which is nice. And another thing to remember- since it’s fresh food, you’ve got to use it pretty quick once you’ve opened the pack.
So overall, big thumbs up from our end. I’m happy because Baxter loves it and seems healthier and he’s just pleased dinner time got an upgrade!
Hope that helps with your decision!
