ParticipantMerrick Treats – A Game Changer in Our Training Routine
Oh, let me talk about our experience with Merrick treats! We adopted an Australian Shepherd, Bonnie, about a year ago and started using these during her obedience training. They’ve been an absolute game-changer for us. Unlike many other treats we’ve tried, Merrick’s are just the right size. Not too small that they’re gone in a flash but not too big that they become a meal replacement by accident!
One thing I’ve noticed about the Merrick brand treats is their resistance to breaking apart, which is really great when we are on long walks or hikes. They hold up well even in my pocket with all the movement and jiggling around. Also speaking of price, for the value and quality you get it’s definitely worth it.
However, one slight hiccup was introducing them to Bonnie initially as she seemed to be unsure about it first – a tip here would be to gradually introduce them mixed with their favorite snack. With some time and patience its now her favorite way to finish a successful training session or walk.
I’d strongly recommend giving these Merrick treats a shoot if your fur friend is picky or you’re looking for a durable, affordable option. But always remember each dog’s preferences can differ so what works for Bonnie might not necessarily work for other lovely pooches out there!

ParticipantThe Joy of Merrick Treats: An Unanticipated Hit!
Body: I was a bit skeptical initially but Merrick has proven me wrong. My pup, Toby, is the pickiest eater, but he went crazy for these treats! Surprisingly, the small size of these treats is a bonus in our training routine. They are just the right size for quick rewards and don’t make him full too quickly. Also, I noticed the material and durability really hold up even when Toby plays rough with them around (that dog!). Price-wise, they are indeed a bit more expensive than some other brands on the market, but I guess you pay for quality here.
Incorporating MErrick into our feedging regimen was quite simple. We did a slow introduction to avoid any digestive upset (always suggest doing this with new foods folks!). Gradually mixed these treats with his regular food over a week or so and voila!
Overall, if you’re looking for a high-quality treat that motivates your furbaby and even manages to satify the fussy eaters among them – definitely give Merrick a try! Just keep an eye on your specific dog’s needs and consult your vet if there’re major dietary changes involved.

ParticipantMerrick Treats: Pawsitively a Top Choice!
Body: Absolutely agree with the positive feedback here about Merrick dog treats! I was using a different treat for our Labrador pup Ruben’s training sessions, but ever since we switched to Merrick, he’s been noticeably more engaged. They seem to be the perfect size as Ruben gulps them right down and immediately looks for more. As for durability, while they are not intended as chew toys obviously, they last just long enough for him to enjoy them thoroughly. Plus, you get quite a volume per bag making them pretty worthwhile in terms of price.
A funny little aside – When we ran out of the Merrick treats for a couple of days and had to use our old ones temporarily, Ruben gave me the saddest look like “Where are the good ones?”. That being said, always remember if you notice any unusual behavior or reactions after switching food or treats, it’s best to contact your vet.
Anyone tried the dental version of these treats? I hear good things and wonder if they’re as big a hit with other dogs?

ParticipantAn Alternative to Consider: The Magic of Zuke’s Mini Naturals
Body: I have to mention another great brand – Zuke’s! Their Mini Naturals have also been a hit in our house. My dog is mega picky but surprisingly, he gobbled up these chewy treats like there was no tomorrow. They seemed quite appealing in size as well – quite small (just like the Merrick’s treats), so you don’t feel like you’re overfeeding your fur baby during training. It’s interesting that even though they’re small, they still have a strong, meaty smell which dogs seem to adore! Moreover, they’re made with natural ingredients and come at a fair price tag.
While Merrick is definitely an excellent option, I thought it would be useful to share this for those who might be looking for alternatives or even variety. Anyone else tried these Zuke’s Mini Naturals? Or had their dogs react similarly with other irresistible treats?

ParticipantMerrick Treats: Bigger Than You Think!
Absolutely concur with above observations! When I first introduced my energetic Springer Spaniel, Fidget, to Merrick dog treats, he took to them faster than a Frisbee on a Sunday afternoon. What struck me though was the size of these treats – they’re much larger than most other training rewards, which might not be perfect for smaller or medium sized dogs.
In terms of price and durability, they are indeed worth every penny. My fur kiddo absolutely devours them but they managed to hold their form quite well and didn’t go soft even after being opened, which is something I’ve noticed with other brands.
As an alternative suggestion, if you’re looking for slightly smaller-sized training rewards with equal pizazz and quality, do give Zuke’s Mini Naturals a shot. They’ve worked absolute wonders when it comes to working on Fidget’s recall command without contributing to any weight gain. They are bite-sized goodness packed with flavor that your pooch will love – mine certainly does!
Always remember each puppers preferences and dietary needs vary so don’t hesitate to experiment until you find what works best for your four-legged friend. And of course, if you notice any unusual reactions or change in behaviour after introducing new treats, consult your vet!
