Though remember, it’s all about finding the sweet spot for your pooch. If your dog isn’t much of a chewer, maybe a softer plush bed could work better, but for my rascals Kong was the answer. Anyone else here got pups that destroyed bed after bed before switching to Kong?

Only thing is, it’s a bit on the pricier side, isn’t it? Then again, I guess if you look at how long these beds last versus getting a cheap one that your dog will tear up in a month… it kind of makes sense.

How often do you guys wash yours tho? annd any tips to prevent the color from fading?

As for the sweet spot, couldn’t agree more. Nothing fits one size here folks.
For those who’ve got dogs with chewing habits, this might realy be worth a shot. You may also consider raising their physical activity tho’, to help curb the boredom that usually leads to chewing. Anyways, that jsut me rambling – all dogs are diferent eh? Any of you dealing with chewers too? What are your strategies beside having chew-resistant bedding?

Now as an aside, anyone tried thier range of chew toys? Are they just as indestructible?? 🧐

    #6272

Oh and as for the Kong chew toys, hah! Indestructible is probably an overstatement—my fur baby has managed to gnaw a few of them into submission..but they do tend to last longer than most! Does anyone here have experience with their other products? Are all Kong stuff similarly built tough like their beds and chew toys? Just wondering if it’s worth exploring more in their range! 🤔🦴🐕‍🦺

    #6273

I mean, they’re decent, don’t get me wrong. Didn’t last forever in our house though… More like 3 months on average before the resident chewers pulled them apart.

They are tho, hands down better than most I’ve tried over my 14 years of doggy dadhood! 💯 So if anyome’s wondering where their money should go between squeaky plush toys and Kong chews, i’d vote Kong.

On the flip side, have you pups tried NylaBone? Just as durable, but less pricey 😏 Might be worth considering if your furbaby is a power chewer. Curious to hear your thoughts!

On another note, thier durability seems to largely depend on your dog’s chewing habits. Like Sandra said, her dog managed 3 months…mine tore into his Kong toy before we hit the month mark. Sad day folks. So idk maybe consider your pupper’s chew strength before investing too much in those “indestructable” toys, eh?

Anyone else have any good durable toy recommendations that have stood the test of time?

    #6282

However, just as Sandra pointed out, its lifespan indeed depends highly on your pooch’s chewing habits. My little fur monster turned the “indestructible” Kong bed into shreds in merely 5 weeks! While some might argue it still lasted longer than the average plush toy (haha), I can’t help but feel a bit stung by the price vs durability ratio.

Might be on the hunt for a chew-proof alternative soon. Could anyone suggest a tough yet comfortable bed that can withstand some zealous chewing?

    #6285

Quick tip though – if your pup IS a serial gnawer, try introducing some chewable toys? They act as a wonderful distraction and keeps ’em occupied for ages! So mabye that could help prolong the kife of your Kong bed too?

Anyway, anyone else had any success with getting their dogs to favor toys over bedding? Or is Kong’s reputation as indestructible a bit of an exaggeration?

    #6288

I’ve personally found that keeping Bucky (my pup) stocked up on those hardy chew toys does keep him busy and away from gnawing on the bed too much. And just to add my two cents, instead of just stickin’ with one bed I got a couple – one for his crate and one for the living room so he can chill out with me while I catch my shows. So, has anyone tried other brands that might work as good or even better than Kong?

    #6292

I’ll tell yah though, these beds are pricy. Worth it for sure if you’re dealing with a serial chewer – they really hold up and save you buying a new one every other month. Anyone out there found any deals or sales on them lately?

    #6294

Also wondering if you guys might have some suggestions on how to introduce the bed to a dog who hasn’t had his own bed before? I’ve been asked by my cousin to help train her pup. Any advice or personal experience is much appreciated!

    #6296

As for getting your doggo accustomed to the bed, have you thought of making it irresistible by placing their favourite toy or a comfort blanket? That worked like a charm to get Brutus all cozy with his posh new throne. 😉 What kinds? Well, soft toys with their scent usually do the trick.

🐾 Love from me and Brutus 🐾

    #6299

That said, y’all are right about the price point. It’s defenitely on the higher side, but then again – what’s pricy if it saves ya from buying a new bed every couple of months, right?

When we got the Kong bed, I used Ralphie’s favourite blanket and played fetch using his favorite toy near the bed. That seemed to do the trick for him and it may help some of your pups too!

Have any of you tried using a spray or other scent-based deterrent to discourage chewing, especially when introducing a new bed? Just curious to see if that’s worked for anyone else.

    #6300

I introduced the bed to her by putting some of her favorite toys on it. Also, a suggestion, maybe dab a little bit of your scent on the bed? Like wear an old t-shirt for a day and then use it as a temporary cover for the bed. Sounds odd but could help your pup get acustomed faster.

Question: Has anyone tried to machine wash the bed yet? How’d that go?
